Title Squid Game Spoiler
I don't get why people think show is predictable, when the show intentionally foreshadows and hints everything.…
It was obvious from the way that it was directed that it was supposed to be the big plot twist (and many people didn't figure it out). Foreshadowing and predictability are two different things. There are many series that foreshadow stuff, but they are not predictable, because the details that reveal the truth are handled in a different way. These types of series are the ones that you rewatch and day ''wow, how didn't I notice that?''. This one though was pretty much in your face. I didn't mind it though. What this show managed to do (for me at least) is making the viewer feel suspense and thrill, even though we knew that the main players would survive (at least in the first eps).

Well we all have our preferences! I have watched similar themed series and movies too, but I really liked this one and I found the games much more thrilling than in Alice, even though it was obvious who was going to survive. I dropped the movie of ATGW, because it was pretty ridiculous. These kind o movies need some good production value. The manga was great though.

I didn't notice the first one, but for me the plot twists were easy to guess. When the massacre happened, it was obvious that the front man basically followed the order of the old man to stop. Nevertheless, it was quite thrilling to watch.

After 'light on me' I also expected this to be longer. However, the most important thing is to be good. I suppose I will wait till it finishes to watch it though.

You are welcome. It says 00, because it is currently being broadcasted. Next to the clock, it says the date and the time that it is being broadcasted, so you can check there.
There is also an airing calendar, if you press you profile picture (on laptop at least). In the airing calendar you can choose 'your list' option and in that way you are able to see the time and the date that a series will be broadcasted.

The first episode is currently airing for about an hour now. If you log into mdl from your laptop and not from the app, there is a clock under every series that says the time that the series will be broadcasted.

She is really a good actress. Unfortunately the characters she plays are not the best. I hope this will change here.

I mentioned them because you said that "People who dropped it or put it on hold should not be able to vote imo because you can only judge something correctly if you actually have seen it." I don't think it really matters though. The rating will stabilize sooner or later. There are irresponsible raters from both sides. Many have rated it badly just by watching two eps and others have given it a ten also by watching two eps (last time I even stumbled on someone's watchlist marked it as watched all 16 episodes). So I think that pretty much the ratings will be a point up or down until 10 episodes or so, since many have voted in favor or not of the drama.

Exactly it is mostly about projection and the execution. (Also because of the title, many, including myself, waited for something close to Dazai's novel). For me, for example, I felt much more emotions while watching my mister than while watching lost, even though technically lost is closer to my experience.

No one said they voted though. I don't rate something in my on hold or dropped list either, but everyone can do what they think is the best. It bothers me too, if someone rates a series after just watching 2 eps, but if they have watched 10 and didn't like it, why not rate it? If a series is bad, then many people will drop it. If those people didn't rate it, then all of the series would have very high ratings. Besides that, many people are rating the series while it is ongoing, hence the current rating. The majority is from people that are watching it, not from people that have dropped it or put in on hold, like it happens with so many other series. Also, I think that in general the bar for romances is easier to reach. It doesn't really matter if irrational things happen, because it is a romance. People watch it, because they want to see something light to pass their time and to feel good. If it satisfies them, then they consider it a good romance. But series like this one are harder to like. It is much harder to make the audience feel empathy for characters, if they have never felt anything similar. These kind of shows are not just to pass the time. They are there to make people feel comfort and understand other human beings. But it is much more difficult for people to feel that they connect with these characters. Besides that, people that watch these kind of series have different criteria for a good series and they are much more strict. They also tend to compare. Also, I don't think it is right to judge the rating so early. Many people including myself are waiting for this to finish, before they rate it. And for me right now, it is certainly a good series, but also not a 10.

I don't fully agree with that. Romances are certainly more popular, if they are good, but that doesn't really mean anything. Many people were anticipating this drama and it just didn't click with them in the first two episodes, so they either put it on hold or dropped it (when it was first released the feeds were full with posts of this drama). This is not a series for everyone and many people don't like going back home to watch a depressing series after a hard day. Besides that, there are many "mature" dramas with pretty high ratings (My mister, Mother, Stranger etc) and this one hasn't even ended yet for us to judge its rating. I will agree though with another comment here, that non Korean dramas get less attention, but if they are good they will shine anyway.

Can you tell me if this had any nudity in it? I'm planning to watch this with my 14 year old brother.
There is some nudity (basically we see an ass of an old man) and a sex scene. However in the first scene, the nudity is the least you should worry about (if you want more info, I can tell you). Besides that there is quite a lot of blood, so if you are worried about something, it shouldn't be the nudity πŸ˜…

I completely agree. They could have simply put some Korean actors to play the VIPs and if they wanted to bring the foreign element in, they could have used Korean actors that speak English. It was quite cringy and disturbing to watch, and even if that was their aim, it could have been executed better. Even if it was kept that way, there was no need for so many cringy dialogues.

imo the plot hole/disappointing parts : - The police officier/brother it didn't make sense at all, at the end…
I agree about the first one. It could have been executed way better, since it was quite an interesting side story. I didn't mind the fact that we didn't get to fully know some things (like the whole organ trafficking one), but they could have given the story more depth. However, if there is another season, I am pretty sure that the cop has survived somehow.

Well, for me the main problem with the 'twists' was that they were pretty obvious to guess. I was almost sure about both of them (the old guy and the frontman), but not 100%. If they had deleted that scene that the frontman gave an order, after the old man shouted for the massacre to stop, then I would have been surprised, but they gave it away quite easily and I say that as a person that usually doesn't pay that much attention to details.
I agree about your fourth point. Especially about Min Nyeo. She was way too irritating and I couldn't stand her, The way she overacted ruined the atmosphere for me, especially the whole bathroom scene.
About Gi Hoon, I admit I liked that a lot, for the reason you didn't lol. I liked that in the end. the winner was not the good guy and the hero. I also liked how they dealt with his character. It seemed at some points that he was turning good and then he fooled the old man to survive. I loved how his character was morally gray (mostly to the pitiful side) and I also wasn't rooting for him in the beginning, Since the two people that took part in the final were quite unlikable I ended up rooting for the lesser evil. (The whole present to his daughter situation, was also brilliant and showed his addiction to gambling).
For me the most well done part of the show, were definitely the games. Even though we knew (especially in the beginning) who will stay alive, it created a tense atmosphere and it was quite suspenseful to watch, even though we knew the outcome.

idk but this voting part is so lame if ppl r saying this show is too brutal then the players shouldnt even have…
I personally liked that part a lot. It is the only show I have seen in this genre that actually gave their players an option. All of the shows/movies I have seen the players never had a choice and anyone could guess that if they could vote, they wouldn't play. I think this is one of the parts that set it apart from series/movies in this genre. For me at least, that made it even more brutal, since it basically showed that the outside world is as hellish as the game. The fact that people willingly chose to play in a game that they knew it could cost their lives is even more disturbing, especially since they lived it first. I feel that it had the amount of brutality and blood that fits perfectly to these kind of themes. It was brutal, but not too brutal to look away from the screen.
