I should have known better than to watch a drama while is on air. All I want is to watch the next episode!!
Me too!

I wouldn't call them overrated (not all of them at least) I completely understand what you are saying with the…
First of all I saw persona the second it came out. I liked 2 out of 4 stories and IU was really good. I probably frased it wrong. A great amount of Kdramas have a plot with romance, but that doesn't mean that it only has that. Most Kdramas are a mixture of a lot of genres. In a romance drama for example you can find -besides romance and drama- political aspects especially in historicals, supernatural elements, investigation, comedy and even horror. Not only women watch romance Kdramas and as I said they are not just romance. Of course if someone is not a big fan of romance series at all they can watch other genres like horror (The guest), investigation (missing noir m) psychological (white christmas) slice of life (my mister) political (doctor prisoner) school dramas with a tone of investigation (class of lies -currently airing and it is amazing) and many others. The great thing about Kdramas -in comparison to western TV shows- is not only the variety and the mix of genres but also the amount of episodes. Imagine that while in the US there are some series that have been going on for years while new series get cut in Korea when a show airs it gets to finish and the public doesn't get to complain about something being on TV for a long time. They are also easy to watch because of the amount of episodes so most people have seen a lot kdramas. So all in all, there are a lot of Kdramas that don't focus on romance or are a mix of genres. A great example is Hotel del Luna, it is romance, drama, historical, horror (for the faint hearted) and comedy. Another one is money flower (that I am currently watching) that is mostly politics with a bit of romance (if people see it that way...)
If you are looking for something that will get you thinking and it needs all of your attention maybe try Doctor Prisoner.
If you are looking something with no romance at all I recommend (as I said before) Children of nobody.

I am literally losing count of how many outfits IU changes in one episode and they are all marvelous!

It is just you. lol. It is NOT that they are mediocre, just that you are probably not watching the appropriate…
It is natural for popular dramas to have comments like this. Most of them have. Some people even hate on dramas, for the sole reason that they are popular. Personal opinion, but you really should stay away from comments as much as you can. If you find a drama and you like the plot and you feel like watching it then just watch it. Many people will like a drama and many people will not. Just because some people say that it dragged on or it is boring doesn't mean that you will believe the same if you watch it. Besides like you said you are a newbie and many people who write comments like that have seen many dramas and they can compare them with their favourites, but you -beacuse you haven't watched many- might find your favourite amongst the "draggy and boring ones". Lastly not everyone has the same taste. People who hate psychological-horror-investigation dramas will probably hate OCN dramas, but people who like these genres will love them. You have to understand that most drama watchers have tried watching almost every genre because the dramas are not long (mostly 20 episodes) so people who hate romance have watched romance dramas and people who love it have watched investigation dramas. That means that the comments can be like that because people give a chance to everything without caring about the genre.
All in all, give a chance to Kdramas. Some of them are fantastic and because I have seen your mydramalist I dont thing you have watched enough or some good romance to judge that. Surely some romance dramas are cringeworthy but others are beautiful!
Have a nice day

I'm new to K-drama so excuse me if I come off as someone hating on K-drama but is it me or are most K-dramas just…
I wouldn't call them overrated (not all of them at least) I completely understand what you are saying with the romance. Kdramas are mostly popular because of it and it is something that the channels want to promote, because most viewers are woman and they like romance (including me). Don't get me wrong there are some fantastic romance Kdramas like Empress Ki that is filled with politics and many others. I just think that you haven't found a drama that you really like, so you can appreciate Kdramas. I,for example started watching goblin as my first Kdrama, because of the reviews and rating and I couldn't go past the first three episodes. From your comment I understand that you probably don't really like romance so I would recommend the following drama :
The guest(horror), My mister, Doctor prisoner(this one is amazing full of mind games), Trap, Children of nobody, Prison playbook -and most OCN dramas-. There are also some classics that I havent watched like Voice, Signal, Stranger etc. You probably won't like hotel del Luna. It isn't horror, mostly fantasy-fairy tale kind of story. You will not get scared -unless you get scared very very easily- I really like it though, it is different from what I am used to watching, the cinematography and the costumes are gorgeous. IU is fantastic in her role and I like her character in this series. But again it has romance so I dont think you will like it!

I really like this show so far. It's been a while since I anticipated new episodes for a series so much. Can't wait for next week.

First drama I've seen here with glowing comments. Is this a dream? Can a drama really be THAT good? Please sell…
Honestly, I can't convince you to watch this, because plain words won't do it justice. It is a story of everyday people, dealing with difficulties and it is simply perfect. It's one of those series that gives people comfort, and it is not over the top or full of plot twists/action etc. It is fantastic in its plainness, and it portrays one of the most beautiful relationships. Overall, just watch it!

I agree and disagree at the same time! It is so wrong, but it sounds nice in a way that I can't explain...
I am learning Spanish for years now, that is why I gave my opinion. Even though it is wrong it doesn't sound bad to me. It probably sounds bad, to people like you, who are native Spanish speakers, and I understand that.

It's HOTEL DE LA LUNA. It's so bothersome to read BAD SPANISH.

I don't know why everyone takes this so seriously. This is a 'what if' article, it will probably never happen.
Us was a great movie in my opinion and whoever has seen it, knows that it contains lots of symbolism that is connected to the US, and is a statement from the director as an African-American.
Korea would probably, never remake this movie, and even if they did they would probably make it in a way that it would fit the Korean culture and the problems that their society is facing.

Really liked your review, but I think you posted this on the wrong page. This is the movie sequel of the series and I think that it's not out yet.
Sorry if I am mistaken!

Is it just me or bullies from east asia part are the worst?? I mean, western part also probably have very serious…
This is something that only people who are living there can answer you. They certainly have a different philosophy in a lot of matters, if you compare them with other countries.
What I can certainly say is that the Japanese want to show to the viewers a problem that has been going on in schools, and bullying is not the only one. Another problem they usually use is the strict family theme. I am not saying that things are not serious there in that kind of matters, because they probably are if we see them in so many movies and series. I am only saying that other countries don't want to use that kind of theme, because it is a 'dangerous one'. All in all I think that we see bullying as a humongous issue in Japan, comparing with others, because they show it a lot in movies and series, and I am saying that because I was thinking the same way that you did. Not that bullying is not serious there, but we tend to think that it is the worse, because they depict it so much.
I don't know how many episodes you have watched, but there are other educational matters, that have been addressed and they have almost no attention, even if it is probably something that happens all over the world.
Plus 'you bite me I bite you' is something that is happening everywhere, even in the smallest issues, I would say it is a human way of doing things - not that it is good- but many people think that way.

I am not sure if I should watch this. Is this drama very heavy? The plot sounds really dramatic and I need something…
From what you said I don't think you should watch this. I am currently on episode 20 and I really like this, but I don't think it is what you are looking for at the moment. Every episode is like a battle of wits and it is more a political drama than anything else -at least for me-. I haven't watched the dramas that you mentioned, so I can't answer to that. I would definitely tell you though, to give it a try if you ever want to watch something like this, because in my opinion it can keep the viewer invested.
