The ending is WZ and YY goes to the past in different timeline. WZ is no longer Phoenix and YY is no longer deity. Since emperor plot has failed, Phoenix no longer being hunted. So there is no more ill fated romance tribulation. Now, WZ and YY can have happy ending as CY and WY. What happen in present time line, still happen though.

It's still happened in the present time line though. They only goes to the past in different time line. But now they will have happy ending since WZ is no longer Phoenix and YY is no longer deity. They don't have ill fated romance tribulation anymore.

I have the same question regarding Yi Er becoming emperor too. In the novel, there is no emperor. But the prince who was supposed to be next emperor is coward. But I am not sure if it from Yan family or not since it was said Yan family prestige has greatly declined after heaven emperor missing and Yan Yue become demon. Don't know what happen with Yan Luo in the novel.
