RY wanted to make JL happy and prepared birthday gifts for her. But JL says how can these things make her happy. She asks RY does he understand what happened to her family and does he know what death means. RY says he understands that she can't see her family again and he would do anything to return her family to her. But he doesn't have the ability to do that. JL walks away. JL looks at the four snow men and realises that it is her father, first, second and third brother. RY talks about each of their characteristics. And JL imagines her family is with her, telling her to stop crying and to live happily. 😭 RY says he will give her rabbit, fish and her family to her every year in the future. JL says RY is also her family. JL is happy.
The next morning, JL eats longevity noodles and calls RY husband for the first time. RY gets all shy. JL asks RY if she can set up an apothecary to raise some medicinal worms and different types of insects . RY agrees. JL asks if RY can eat some of the worms. She asks to keep everything secret. He notices something wrong with her arm, but JL says it's fine. RY agrees to everything. JL asks if he has questions. RY asks if she can call him husband again. Both look happier.
JL pays respects to her family again and seems happier and moving forward with life.
It is almost the new year. RY and JL go shopping for medicines and fool around happily.
RY's Uncle has invited a doctor to check and cure RY. The doctor brings out some insects, RY knows more about the insects and instruments than the doctor. He says he has seen them often and offers to show the doctor the insects he raised. The doctor is shocked that RY knows more than him and suspects he is a disciple of JL's master. The doctor eats some cake on the table and appears to poison himself. Later we find out that RY took the cakes from JL's appothacary.
RY takes JL's blankets and possessions back into his room. He tells JL that he wants to live and sleep together. He knows that husbands and wives sleep together. JL says he should say it more confidently if that's what he wants. RY pulls JL into bed. RY sees the bruises on JL's back and asks what they are. JL lies and says it's nothing.
The new emperor is meeting with his Uncle. The Uncle is asking for his daughter to become a Princess, the new emperor pretends to be stupid and goes along with it.
All the noble family's are meeting in the palace to greet the emperor for new years including RY and JL. JL sees the noble family's and has been secretly investigating to find out who plotted against the He family.
A eunuch spills tea on JL, and she walks away to go home first. Another eunuch approaches her , telling her the princess wants to see her. She gets suspicious and questions the eunuch. It turns out it is the new emperor, he apologizes to JL for not protecting the He family. He tells her he is pretending to be stupid and the person who is really in control is his Uncle. He asks JL to support him, he has heard of her many accomplishments in Nan Jiang. He offers her the position of his General, for the future of Jia Lin. But he realises He family put her together with RY so she can have a normal life, so he will not blame her if she refuses. JL asks why does the new emperor believe in her so much.
RY's Uncle accepted the marriage, so it is valid, he said JL is a Rong now.
RY's Uncle knows JL poisoned RY. It's understandable that Uncle hates JL but does he need to be so cruel, he is definitely taking out his anger on JL because RY became silly. Even the servant outside the door couldn't bear to see JL being beaten like that. 🫣
I might be completely wrong, and I am sure other people have guessed the same thing, but I think this is a premonition.…
I have had similar thoughts that what is happening now is just a bad premonition. But how far are they going to take this tragedy, right until the end where both die, or one dies, and one lives in depression for life? I think one option is that they let this tragic premonition play out for most of the rest of the episodes and they wake up near the end and realise they need to cherish each other and JL is happy to marry RY. They all leave the capital to live a quiet life some where else like on the mountain to avoid their bad destiny.
Or second option is, RY and JL wake up soon like in the next episode, return to four years ago at the divination party and unravel what happened to cause the death of the He family. They marry. Then RY needs to enter politics or get closer to the emperor to gain power to prevent the tragedy of the He family. JL also needs to gain power through the military somehow to help.

He Shan was dismissed in episode 12, for helping fight the soldiers with HQT t give time for JL and RY to get married. At least in the next episode 14, RY is not cured.

Zhan Ping brings in the longevity noodles and says even though the noodles were not hand made by RY. RY asked his kitchen to prepare the noodles and it is the thought that counts. Zhan Ping whispers to JL, that if he didn't stop RY from making the noodles himself then JL wouldn't have had any noodles to eat this morning. JL's age hasn't been mentioned. But in this episode RY's Uncle said he raised RY until 20 yrs old preciously then RY met JL. So I guess RY is now around 24 yrs old.
Also I remember, in episode 10, when they are in the border town, eldest brother and He General were talking and they said eligible batchelers were stopping JL in the street regularly, to ask for marriage. But JL didn't see any one she likes. General He said it's okay if she doesn't marry as long as she's happy. So at this point she should be married.

The cat 😺 jumps into the carriage, RY likes 😺 and picks it up. While Zhan Ping is busy with the stall owner, RY wanders into the street alone.
He is looking for a gift for JL's birthday and gets tricked into going in a gambling den.
A gambler helps RY lose all of his money betting while RY plays with the 😺. The gambling manager tries to force RY to bet with his piece of jade but RY refuses. RY is forced to bet the jade when threatened, RY gets angry and he uses his ability to see the next roll of the dice and wins. RY keeps winning by using his ability and ends up with a back pack full of money, gold and silver.
The gambling manager accuses him of cheating. RY accused the gambling manager of have something in his sleeve. They find a magnetic ball and chaos erupts. The gold and the 😺 is packed away in the backpack and RY leaves.
RY checks the 🐈 and it is sleeping. He also finds a stack of paper money, he thinks it is waste paper and tries to find somewhere to throw it away. Some suspicious people are following RY, but they get distracted by the money discarded by RY, and they end up fighting amongst themselves.
RY walks away, JL is looking for him and picks him up . The 😺 makes it into Rong manor, but runs off. They go home and JL moves into a separate room to be alone. JL is transcribing something, I think it may be Rong family laws.

In Rong family's ancestral hall, RY's Uncle tells JL he has raised RY preciously and he is like his son. He says ever since RY met JL , RY has been getting injured often. He thinks JL is a unlucky star. He says he wants to confirm his suspicions and directly asks JL if she poisoned RY. JL admits it and bows to RY's ancestors.
JL gets beaten as punishment for RY falling into the lake. She hobbles back to her room , she asks for the injury medicine and realises this is not her home He family manor and she won't be treated well here. She misses her family and dreams about their happy times and also HQT death.
Rong Yu prepares a suprise for JL and sets up snow men holding swords as gifts, also folded paper rabbits and a lucky fish he caught in the lake.
JL comes out to see the suprise, RY tells her it's her birthday tomorrow and he prepared this suprise to make her happy. He tells her he caught the fish in the lake and asks if she is happy with the gifts. JL gets angry that he fell in the lake to catch the fish and gets angry at RY for being outside in the snow after falling into the lake.
It's sad that JL is getting mistreated in Rong manor I hope RY notices her injuries soon and helps her.

RY said aleast He Shan has a home to return to, but his wife no longer has a home and she can't find her family because they are dead. At least RY understands what has happened to JL's family and is trying to make her happy.
