This is the first time I’ve seen a crossover in a C-drama! I’m so excited to see these two men, both completely crazy about their women, doing what they do best: leading troops into battle.

Well, they do put me off. I usually avoid sad endings like the plague. I like being able to enjoy the stories I watch and come away with a sense of satisfaction when they’re over. I hit play knowing what I was getting myself into, and I’m sticking around until the end because Cheng Lei is my favorite actor. He’s the only reason I’m willing to put myself through the emotional roller coaster that is TLOA.

I just hope the ending, whatever it turns out to be, is well done. Despite all the heartbreak and the flaws in the writing, this is still my favorite drama. I’m devastated. My heart is in my throat. Episode 34 absolutely wrecked me. I know we have two beautiful scenes coming up, but the episodes themselves are going to be heartbreaking. And this is a Republican era drama, so half the characters we love, if not all of them, are going to die by the end.

Why did I have to get so invested in a melodrama when it’s the genre I hate watching the most? I usually run in the opposite direction! 😭
