Title Shadow Love
In terms of depth LOTFG failed miserably SL is much better
Yeah, SL has better world-building and its characters feel more believable for its fantasy genre. What I’m saying is that people keep comparing them when it doesn’t make sense. Their plots have completely different goals

The only worthwhile thing in the Cdrama The Female General is Cheng Lei and his acting.

Title Shadow Love
I honestly don’t get why people keep comparing LOTFG and Shadow Love in their reviews. They’re totally different stories, genres, and characters, each with their own context. If superhero-style fantasy isn’t their thing, that’s fine, I get it. But beyond that, it feels like a lot of people are missing the bigger picture of this plot.

I’m surprised the drama is divided into arcs as I didn’t read any comments before starting, so that was unexpected.…
Their story arc really set the bar high for the ones that came after. Cheng Ao is another amazing character from Cheng Lei. His flirting with FL is a solid 10. They basically became each other’s rock
On A Familiar Stranger Sep 12, 2025
I’ve only got two episodes left and I really liked that mini-drama. Cheng Lei makes every single scene where he’s treating the FL’s wounds feel super sensual. In this one, in LOTFG, and in Shadow Love. The tension is just so good

It’s totally up to you and your personal taste. For me, I really loved his battles with those supernatural powers

How sweet!
I saw him in the Republican drama and really liked how his character was both clever and charming. And yes, I’d love to see him in a modern drama, where he can take on more complex roles that really bring out his acting talent.

The story’s actually adapted from a fantasy novel, and one of his personalities is basically a Marvel/Sony-style superhero with a Chinese twist. And as long as Jin’an has amnesia, his fights are gonna be like that.

Totally, he’s got this mysterious but super charming vibe.

😂 It's true! I just saw him in Shadow Love, and he’s shirtless so much. Honestly, Cheng Lei is a total visual delight
On Footprints of Change Sep 10, 2025
I just finished all 10 episodes of the first arc, and I totally binged them. I started it because of Cheng Lei, and I absolutely loved his performance as Cheng Ao. He’s a true gentleman in every sense. I adored those little smiles of admiration he gave the FL. Their relationship was just so beautiful, set against a society on the edge of both internal and external war. And I have to say, Cheng Lei is like fine wine in that formal suit. It fits him perfectly

what do you mean they got rid of Prince Annan? you mean he asked to strip his title? because as person he stayed
They didn’t show it, but I suspect he writes to his brother sometimes. He’s not dead to the world, unlike Li Shuang. I’m happy with what we got. That’s why I say: it’s not a perfect drama, but it’s perfect for my heart

The Jade Linglong process was forced inside his body, which is why he turns into a child. He couldn’t handle the transformation. On top of that, the blood exchange isn’t complete

I wish there could’ve been a political marriage between Taijin and Yao State wherein General Li and Prince Annan…
The writers decided to stick with the same ending as the novel, instead of making up a new one. They could have, sure. But to me, it fit the characters’ desires. They always wanted to live freely, without having to carry the political weight of their titles, merits, and family name

I’m also happy it’s rising in the ratings. And yeah, the ending with all three personalities fused is just…
For me, he wasn’t completely Jin’an. In certain moments, I saw Annan. For example, when he asks Li Shuang why no one pampers or takes care of him after putting the orphanage kids to bed. That kind of petulance is totally the prince. His walk is Annan, but how he cares for Li Shuang is Jin’an
