The relationships in danmei adaptations are portrayed differently from other dramas, and however they are explained, the only way to understand it, would be to watch.

This is a Romance for me and has been from he moment one I watched it (without knowing anything about the novel at the time or anything written on any platform). But if I have to give technical information, to be fair to the person I am recommending this to, then, it's the information provided by filmmakers.

What does it mean for an actor to make growth in this or that genre? For example, Song Joong Ki, someone I like and everyone should know. He wasn't involved romantically in Sungkyunkwan Scandal (the bromance was nice:), neither in Deep Rooted Tree. Does this mean that after seeing his portrayal in these two dramas, we should have concluded that he isn't suited for a romance?
I am still watching Luoyang, I have reached episode 17, since I am not watching alone and can't bingewatch it, unfortunately. But I will already tell you, that I see more emotion than 'responsibility', and find the couple extremely lovable thanks to Yibo, but also the Actress who I find quite cute and enjoyable to watch.
Legend of Fei is a wuxia/romance, with a fair focus on the martial arts, since the story was about Fei becoming a legendary martial artist, after all. And Yibo, showed sides to him (including romantic side I enjoyed a lot:)), I hadn't seen before, and this is also a proof that he can transform. And I enjoyed Gank your heart, including the romance.

And anyone who knows LWJ from the book will probably understand what she meant. And Yibo proved LWJ could exist, exactly because he has the heart and the skills to do it.
Yibo doesn't only show his ability to transform in dramas but on stage. And therefore, he can play in anything.

The term BL has different meanings based on country, context, etc.
BL 'as in manga' or BL as in 'danmei' has certain characteristics (romanticizing for example). therefore it is not equivalent to homosexual.
When it comes to MDL, users use it equivalent to all drama with male leads. But these dramas, in reality can be based on a source that's BL (genre) or not.
Those who want to learn more, can refer to chinese sources rather than wikipedia and the like.
