CQL ASIDE (since I never compare it to anything else), from all dramas with male leads, I have seen.

This one is my #1.

What I am trying to say, is that, may be you shouldn't conclude that this genre isn't for you. This isn't about 'genre', but that this drama is really EXEMPLARY!
Especially, that if you have watched korean/thai/japanese dramas, even though, they are all grouped under 'bl' in the dramaland, these dramas do not belong to the same GENRE, because of their Source. But this is another topic for another time.

EDIT : the truth is, even though I am answering with regards to 'bl', but this is one my favourite Romances, all Dramas combined, irrespective the gender of the leads. Even people who do not watch 'bl' in general, if they'd realize that 'bls' are done for EVERYONE, the vast majority would love this.

Chinese really invest in productions. So much thought and professionalism input in a drama. I am lucky to be able to watch dramas like these, because, this has become a rarity...

Episode 15 was cute:)

It's been changed for a while. I was glad when it was changed because the old one was simply wrong.And gave this melodramatic feeling:) that didn't suit the mood of this drama.
But there are a few things in this one that, I think are more like viewer's feelings than 'narration'. And a few words that bother me a little. Especially when looking at it from a point of view of someone who is reading before watching.
I'll find time to tell in details what I mean.

I hope what I am saying isn't taken wrongly. But we have to make sure the description ATTRACTS. So if there's a chance to make it even better, we can work together.

Liking is a subjective feeling.

But, as to understanding the characters, I have to say, that love doesn't and shouldn't only come in conventional ways, especially in Fiction.

Sure, I use twitter, too. But even right now going on twitter, when searching with a tag, I can see only positive comments.
My point isn't that there aren't people who are writing crazy comments, but that this is still minority versus majority. And an intelligent person is going to understand, that 'bls' attract a lot of attention. And anti-fans are always going to find 'something' to attack the drama with. For one drama, it is going to be this, for another drama it is going to be something else. And frankly, anti fans don't even have to try hard most of the times. Because they'll use the word 'toxic' and then fans won't stop repeating it, spreading it, even if it is to deny.
Like you, I'd hate to see someone not watching this drama, because he or she read some comment. But the way to not let that happen is (in my opinion of course), not spread the negative comments, even if it is to defend the drama, not exaggerate, making it sound as if they are the majority (because they absolutely aren't).
I would like you to think of something. Right now, right on this page. For the last 2 weeks, who are the people who constantly bring up the word hate or negative reviews. The FANS. Sure, they do it out of the best intentions. But it doesn't change the fact, that if I came on this page today to get recommendations, I would believe that this drama isn't praised, and this 'misinformation' would come from the FANS themselves. Because for the last two weeks, 99 percent of the people who wrote on this page expressed their Love.

How are they going to be influenced? After all, even on international channels, 94 percent praise the drama. If they are going to listen to individuals (especially those who are just trying to say something negative since this is a bl), well, then, there's nothing we can do about it. People seeking recommendations should be intelligent too as to 'sort' the information they receive.

There's nothing wrong in liking a pretty face, since beauty evokes emotion:) And the source is 'danmei' after all. Aesthtetics is essential, isn't it?

I want to respond a little differently from ShortCircuit, because to me the romance began in episode 3, when I was first watching it. But the drama is done in a way, that the individual viewer's 'focus' and even 'worldview', I'd say, play a role too, in the viewing experience.

If your question is whether this resembles other 'bl's you have seen. My answer will be no.

But if you are ansking whether this is a romance, my answer is yes. Even though, I have to say, I think, it's best watching this drama, with a 'blank mind', and figuring out things by yourself.

And I want to mention, that today, I absolutely love the first two episodes. When I watched this for the first time, I got hooked from the beginning, but I starting 'liking' it after episode 3, when the leads meet for the first time in the past... From when on, I 'loved' it, I can't tell... Somewhere around the way and forever:)

I watch it fully. Then I make myself not watch for several days and then I rewatch from the beginning till the end. And, it's such a pleasure, every time...
There is really not a thing in this drama that isn't done perfectly well. From moment 1 to the very last scene. This isn't just an excellent short drama (I'd even say a film), this is really a guide on 'how to make them'.

Since I don't want to reply to every user bringing up the word 'hate', here's statistics...
The drama is rated 9.4 on the broadcasting channel and over 9 on other platforms.
If there are 'some' people attacking it, this, unfortunately, should be expected. But it's all about percentage.
And frankly, is it even possible for this drama not to be loved by most? Impossible!!! I'd know it without checking praises or statistics.

This formulation, that the drama gets so much hate, might be misunderstood. The drama has a rating of 8.3 which means that that vast majority of the viewers love it. I am not bringing up ratings to say they are important, nor to say it's a good or bad rating (personally, I have rated it 10). It is also both popular and high rated on other platforms.
I can understand your wondering about some users, but just to say that this the drama is highly praised and loved by the vaaaaast majority. As it should be!!!

I want to help out but don't know how, because I don't see as how did GL do well:) while gyy poorly. For me, if anything, it would be considered the opposite:) But, anyway, I think that the main point in the drama isn't who is successful and who isn't. They are playing different characters, who I assume will both play an important role in the upcoming episodes.

To add, as someone who loves XZ, I wouldn't want to miss his character and acting in this drama.

I really liked a-xius character. She showed weakness and strength at the same time. The whole story was really beautul.

The last episodes that aired today made me laugh:), but also made me so emotional...

Well written, with good dialogues( and I don't just mean the leads), consistent story, with a good cast overall.. A lot of thought ant effort has been put in this. I don't think we see many dramas like this these days. When you see the details matter.
Enjoyable at all times.
