There's only one part where I don't understand what you mean. In fact the genre of the Tale of Wanderer on JJWXC is Romance. Meaning Romance between men of course. Since the literary genre 'romance' isn't gender sensitive. As to teh term 'danmei', it's far from being 'lgbt contents'. I don't want to enter into this though within this discussion. But what I'll say, is that there are many misconceptions about this "type of literature". People who are interested could read about it on Chinese sites (translating the page into English, for example), rather than on wikipedia.

And I don't take anything you are writing wrongly. This is a discussion as it is meant to be:)))

As you said, in all of the dramas with m/f leads, you'll take a couple as a couple. But it's also because the drama offers this to you on a platter (starting from genre, synopsis and everything else). I can't actually remember any drama without skinship:) Including danmei adaptations by the way. A touch is skinship:) And personally, for me, one touch, well filmed, is worth more than a whole sex scene without chemistry:)
What you are saying is valid. But the truth is also, that the same exact scene between m/f leads that would immediately be perceived as flirting:), won't be the case of m/m leads, if you 'don't want' to see Romance.
Are danmei adaptations different from other dramas (in terms of how the relationship is portrayed)? Definitely. They give way to many interpretations. And I don't really mean that it is about whether or not it's love or friendship. For me, the interpretation lies in understanding the deeper meaning of some of the 'confessions', understanding every 'touch', every 'gaze', understanding from when they starting having feelings for each other, do they love each other or are they lovers. All of these are 'handed to you' in dramas with m/f dramas. But personally for me, THIS is also where the beauty lies in these danmei adaptations. Amongst other things, of course.

I am certainly not saying that everyone should see what I see, or that everyone should ask the same questions. More than that. These dramas offer a lot, so it is quite possible to simply watch them for martial arts, acting, story (depending on a drama), not even wondering about the 'nature of the relationship'.

Whatever I think of a drama, I still remind the official information to those who haven't watched the drama yet, and and ask them to take that into consideration as the only Truth.

I read one or two comments asking if this is bl or saying they'd rather watch 'bromance'...
I would like to ask a question. If tomorrow I wish to watch a drama about friendship, would I choose an adaptation of Romeo and Juliet? :) But let me leave this aside for a second...

I think people's interpretations are valid as far as :
- they aren't presenting their opinions as universal truth,
- the 'interpretation' isn't simply them 'denying' Romance because of their mentality. This isn't called interpretation any more, and has nothing to do with the drama itself.
- as far as they aren't based on wrong information.

The simple fact is, no one can insist that it is 'categorized' as a 'bromance or as 'romance', since neither of these genres is mentioned on Youku. Anyone telling the opposite, is spreading wrong information.

Also, please do not spread information saying this is bromance because of china's censorship. China censors sexual contents. Should we all agree that 'no sex' means 'no love or romance'? :)

It's really scary as to how wrong information can pass from one fan to another and be presented and perceived as truth in the end... Please remember that anything else you are reading on other pages (tags, etc...) are written by fans and amateurs...

Officially, this is a martial arts drama, costume, plot-driven (武侠,, 古装, 剧情). The only other official information is that the Source is a Romance (爱情).

And more importantly, instead of believing anyone, watch and trust your own eyes and feelings. If it's love you see, then love it is.

Isn't it like in life? Sometimes one gaze is enough to show or understand someone's feelings....

There shouldn't be 'censored' tag on ANY drama on MDL,
And everyone should remember that 'tags' are written by fans or amateurs and not to be taken remotely seriously...

You are writing 'recommendations' but thesey aren't about the drama but about 'your mentality. And you are watching cinema to teach instead of watching to learn... It's a waste watching a film, if you have decided in advance as to what you are going to see..

What you don't agree with, isn't to be repeated either, again, even if you are going to negate it.

It's a shame that dramas like this don't get more exposure on MDL. I'd even say 'necessary exposure'.
I definitely recommend it to everyone.

And those who liked it, may be could share a post in the feeds to promote it ? I don't know if people are using this feature, since I am forgetting to use it too most of the times, but, when adding a drama to a list, or when adding an episode, pushing the MDL button, will share the information in the feeds...

If we start watching or not watching shows because of 'politics'... Should we boycott american show because they start war somewhere, should we boycott iphones because they 'employ' minors? I am just wondering as to what is the mark of your phone. Or of many of us... Cosmetcs? Clothes? Do you or does everyone else check where and how they are produced?
What other things, brands, actors (from different countries), you boycott except for 'produce 101'? Or, could this be this the only 'issue' in the world to cause a heartache?

In any case, this will be my one and only post this matter. Because, this is 'politics'. And because everything seems to be ok to be used today to manipulate social media and fans.

I know several languages but have been telling one thing recently. Why on earth I didn't learn chinese before???
I am getting frustrated that I can't watch chinese entertainment without subs or even more importantly read the novels.
I am trying to change that and started to learn (after cql). I have learnt a bit since then, but still have a way to go.

I didnt check the messages above, so have no idea what the debate is about (avoiding the site not to come across spoilers), but I came accross your name, and happen to know the answers to the questions since I have checked all of the official information in the past.

CQL genres on tencent are : Fantasy, Costume. The third word written in 'Plot'. I assume to show it is plot-driven.

MDZS genre on JJWXC is Romance.

This doesn't mean that all of the other sites are going to use this information only. From what I have understood some sites include other 'genres' and 'tags' since watchers tend to "search" for contents by using these criteria. And therefore, they might add more genres or tags, so that people can find the contents by more criteria.

However, I believe to solve any debate of any kind, we should go with the official broadcasting channel and the publisher's site (tencent and jjwxc, as you mentioned), since the criteria here would have been approved by the authors and filmmakers.

I won't write about the whole 'censorship' thing, since I have a very different take on it. We can discuss it another time:)
But to just tell my opinion about the expression.
If you check the dictionary definition of a soulmate, a friend can be your soulmate.
But thinking about it, from a different point of view, a friend or a soulmate can become your husband or your wife. Therefore the word soulmate doesn't mean it 'should be' the person you love, but that it could be the person you love:)
Personally, I have always thought of a 'soulmate' as of your second half.
And this is why, after thinking about it for a while, I thought that 'soulmate' was in fact an excellent and very accurate translation, since it allows you to interpret it the way you feel. It is up to you to understand, whether they are friends or more than that. The word would be right word for both cases.
