Well…this is awkward. I really enjoyed the first episode. It felt cinematic, the action scenes were great, and…
Good job that you watched the series without switching off your brain! Look at the hysteria these fangirls are having at the comment sections. Already people calling it a masterpiece with what we have seen so far and their obsession is giving BL drama a bad name if producers think comedies in episode 2 & 3 work!
What did I just watch? A silly comedy in a university setting.... and I loved it? I have long considered that…
A real 'boy love' is supposed to happen when they are teenagers, so high school or university setting is most probable and still be a good watch if done right. Mid to late twenties something same sex romance should be considered LGBT.
If someone attractive looking has not had any straight or gay relationship / fixation before, that is just fairytale, gay fantasy.
This drama proves that Jp series are the best and number 1,
Many of their dramas know subtlety when required, in some of their storytelling. You don't need to show endless flashbacks like many Thai BL (such as Miracle of TB), we are not infantile, not all past stories to be told in flashbacks especially if you don't have good child actors.
I didn't read the novel so I'm a bit confused why there are so many characters with the surname "Feng" but are…
Guys, the chinese character for Feng Lan Xi (Yang Yang) family is 丰 (literal meaning is luxuriant) and Zhao Lu Si surname is 风 (literal meaning is Wind) which has the same pronunciation unfortunately, causing confusion. Both surnames are apparently not related.
Alright, now that this is over, can someone tell me if the ending is happy or not? I'm only grasping that it was…
With all the cliches and fan service kisses before the finale, the ending is of course a happy one. What's more, you get 5 minutes of flashbacks of their moments, isn't it wonderful? (Me being sarcastic)
This BL series is an absolute crap! It only gets points for hot leads and passionate kisses. The scripts are full of clichés yet some people think it should be better with longer episodes. Many of us just waited to see hot guys in actions once we saw the first 2 episodes and knew the quality of its filmmaking.
The finale is essentially 10 minutes long, 5 mins in flashbacks, the rest is intro and credit. What a waste of two handsome actors!
Why would a doctor and emergency crew NOT know the importance of getting a healthy young man's organs to donors?…
The more episodes you have watched, the more you will realise the writer has forgotten about consistency rules. The reaper appears to be doing romantic things to Prakan, no longer just his soul collecting job.
As a doctor, Prakan becomes too involved and emotional with the patients and fails to see the nature of reaper's job.
What's with so many flashbacks of reaper's past? Judt get it over with!
Shi Cheng Hao is indeed beautiful, and I like his shy, reserved character although J100 thinks he is dull. The…
@Jpny01 By the way, it takes as much effort for North East Asians to get golden tanned skin as most Westerners because they don't have long summer and their skin goes back to being fair once they stay out of the sun for a while.
If you have well sculptured body, it can look good in pale skin or any skin tone to be honest.
In country like Singapore (lived there 12 years) and Japan (as seen in adult films :-P), golden tanned skin is quite popular among young people. I also went sun tanning when living in Singapore until one day in my late thirty, I noticed I started to have freckles and black moles in arms and face. Upon research, I found that our skin gets damaged by UV light but it can be quickly repaired when young.
I stop sun tanning after that. I would just go for early morning or late evening sunshine for under 15 minutes when I could these days.
Shi Cheng Hao is indeed beautiful, and I like his shy, reserved character although J100 thinks he is dull. The…
@Jpny01 I think pale skin has been preferred in culture around the world for millenniums including the West. I read that the paradigm change in the West was the result of advancement in long distance travel where the English could go to French Riviera and Americans to California and Miami. Gay culture in California has also popularized the golden tanned skin with underwear line which you don't see as often in European gay scenes.
The pale skin look of Caucasians is also different from that of North East Asians (Chinese, Japanese, Koreans). Some white men look sickly with pale skin, rashes and freckles while north Asians' skin tend not to have freckles and rashes. That's why when you have mixed parentage, they could be perfect with more defined Caucasian features and smooth clear skin of east Asian.
From my experience and observations, gay culture in Asia or the West have a lot more varied taste for men than straight culture (standard body beauty for women). It is not true that Asian gay men mostly like zero fat; there are also a huge market for bears (hairy), chubby, skinny twinks and what's not. It is however true in some cultures/countries, gym fit bodies are more sought after such as in Taiwan, Korea and Singapore where they have 2 years mandatory army service for all male, based on my travel experience and chatting with people.
I remember that you detest the trip-fall-catch trope, but I enjoyed this one. First, it was blatant and obviously…
@LykeItRuff Ops, no wonder you were pissed off at me bitching about Max Lin, now that you find him more attractive of the two, sorry!
I think that accidental kiss was acceptable due to the way they moved. I would have liked it better if the lips touched the forehead due to their height difference. It is not as ridiculous as the one in Dear Doctor's episode 1 which is totally tropey to trip, accidentally grab the tower and fall on the floor with lips locked but without injuring their teeth or face.
Unfortunately for may BL obsessed fans here, they think episode 1 is cute, the theme song is cute, the twitching…
@FrankieCN Not only that, some fans are so crazy with dramas like KinnPorcshe and Bad Buddy that they sound like there is a second coming of Christ (耶稣基督的第二次降临).
Reasons this show, after two eps, has already stolen my heart (which is not often stolen by BLs these days):It…
Haha dude, I'm glad you enjoyed it. It's definitely a different vibe from Thai BL dramas if we haven't already checked out more than 10 of them released in the last one month!
I usually don't like guys with long hair but that bartender is so stunning even some straight guys may be tempted to look at him twice.
Hopefully, I won't have to add this to the list of dropped dramas lately.
In hindsight, maybe convincing him to go outside and then immediately leaving him by himself wasn’t the best…
The writer just strung together some Thai drama tropes (accidental falls, bitchy stepmom, annoying ex girlfriend) and this is the result; how often do you go to a bar/cafe with pool and predatory girls?
Someone said a character falling this exact pool has been used in another drama previously.
Short but SWEET! Obviously there are quite a few moments that didn't make sense/unrealistic, but really enjoyed…
I agree with what you have commented. Many people think it is a masterpiece, I think it is sweet but nothing powerful like recent Japanese dramas 'Love On The Line' and 'He Is Beautiful'. Many people are also shipping their fan service BTS, thinking they could be a couple in real life.
That episode is a mess. Even the scripts were bad, for instance, Green calling Chap 'Mr Nawee' a few times when…
The sex scene is however the only one that is watchable in the whole episode. We cannot expect straight actors to go totally "gay for pay".
Thai BL industry is already making a lot of improvement in sex scene since the early day of fish kissing with detached bodies. Apparently, the good money from this genre is attracting a lot of new handsome faces and more and more daring sex scenes.
Shi Cheng Hao is just beautiful - my goodness. And did you see the 8-pack on Max Lin? I like that the leads treat…
Shi Cheng Hao is indeed beautiful, and I like his shy, reserved character although J100 thinks he is dull. The tall paralegal in episode 1 called Boris Wong (see Casts & Crew) also catches my eyes. I wish they have given him more screen time or a better role.
Max Lin does have nice body which was unexpected. His make up is too thick however, it might be his request as everyone else's make up looks normal. He has what my friend likes to call "blowjob mouth" and I suspect he is gay in real life, with the thick make up and the gym fit body which is quite common among gay community there. He might be a Muscle Mary in real life from what I have seen in some Taiwanese shows featuring Muscle Mary's One Day Date with a Handsome Straight Guy.
I also find him a bit annoying with his overacting, especially obvious since I could understand Mandarin.
I hope so too that the accident is not some ridiculous, tropey kind of turn of event.
That episode is a mess. Even the scripts were bad, for instance, Green calling Chap 'Mr Nawee' a few times when…
Haha, at least you were paying attention, the episode is a mess. The ex is already annoying asking the same thing the next day. They definitely have sex since clothes were off. Aroused men are hard to just cool down and cuddle without a finale, if you know what I mean.
WTH is happned in ep 7, did they cut out scene? there are missing cnnections scenes
That episode is a mess. Even the scripts were bad, for instance, Green calling Chap 'Mr Nawee' a few times when trying to resusitate him. They had slept together and were not surrounded by crowd to call him so formally.
You always said it better than I could, Jpny01 ! I kept saying there was no inconsistency in Chap's behaviors…
@jpny01 This may sound controversial but bisexual men are less common in South East Asia than in the West, based on my encounters living in Europe for a few years and here in S.E.A. I have met or chatted online with dozens of locals during my trips in Europe and East Asia, so it is not just an observation drawn from just a few encounters.
The reasons could be social stigma with being bisexual or pansexual and Asians being less open and adventurous with their sexuality.
If a BL romance is between teenagers, it is believable they may be asexual before mingling with the opposite sex. The recent BL trend of going into romance stories between young adults or even men in late twenties not having any prior relationship or preference is too far fetched (such as Taiwan's Plus & Minus)!
In the case of Cherry Magic, it is plausible as many Tokyoites have no love life due to long working hours or indulging too much in anime (aka Otaku) or playing video games.
If they have a narrative about these BL characters interested in a man previously or simply as gays, then the cliches "coming out of closet" plot can be skipped. Otherwise, many BL fangirls may think why don't two handsome actors fall in love after being CP in the movie/drama!
