Wu Bi (Xu Bin) is such a young talented actor/artist! He sang most of the series soundtracks, even danced very well in that awkward school dance! Don't get me started with his acting, it's phenomenal! When he cries, I cry 😭 wishing all the best in his career and lok forward to seeing him in S2 😘
In next week's last 4 episodes, I hope the drama gives us what we have been waiting for; the declaration of love, be it a proper kiss or words of confession.
The drama undeniably endorses BL thru the fujoshi's fantasy scenes and Han's father's overly campy father who in episode 20 kept saying Wubi is so manly and handsome, come on, wtf, 😂
Doudou also said, wait for me to come back before you guys 'giving sweets' as in doing sweet things / fan service, if you know what I mean!
Airing at the moment:China - Stay with meTaiwan - Stay by my sideHong Kong - Stay stillDid they do it on purpose…
It is only coincidental the English titles use the same word stay because the direct translation of SWM would have been 'Brother, Don' t Run Away' which would be offputting if you guys see this title. Stay Still is 'The person(s) from downstairs'
I'm too tired to read in between the lines. I like BL so this is not for me but I'm happy for all of the people…
In the original addicted series which was pure BL and followed the book closely, many viewers could not stand the sexual part of the series and consider the relationship toxic, this is just the more romantic version but surely BL.
As a third generation chinese diaspora from Malaysia who could read, write and speak Mandarin and been to China…
News anchors in China and many countries including mine must be able to speak in standard mandarin with no regional slangs which may be unknown to outsiders.
While the Chinese government mandates all schools must promote mandarin speaking and of course learning the writing including those ethnic minorities like Uyghurs and Tibetans, the government cannot force people to adapt Beijing or shanghai accent (one of the most neutral accents).
I notice when actors filming film based in shanghai or Zhejiang region , they can be more comfortable dubbing themselves but Beijing or north eastern accent has very distinct tongue rolling way of speaking (only suyi father has real Beijing accent) like how the glasgow accent is hard for other English speakers to acquire that tongue rolling way of speaking English.
Of course, the voice actors can get much work if the actors are from southern China or western China (sichuan). I said wubi and suyi don't have strong accents and I was right cos one is from Shanghai and the latter is from canton which was why I heard wuyi speaking Cantonese in one of the Bts to Wubi, I who couldn't respond back that dialect. 😂
While I like Taiwanese accent in regular people, many actors in BL drama deliver lines so poorly spoken, I could not take Taiwanese BLs seriously.
QUESTION REGARDING DUBBINGAs many of us know, the Chinese dub all shows/movies because the govt mandates that…
As a third generation chinese diaspora from Malaysia who could read, write and speak Mandarin and been to China dozens of time for holiday, here are my explanations for dubbing in chinese dramas.
Mandarin is spoken as the mother tongue in north, central and south western (Beijing, sichuan, wuhan, yunan, etc) part of China with various different accents but still not as unintelligible as dialects like those found in the south eastern provinces like Canton(including Hong Kong) Amoy (like Taiwan as well) , Hainan where many south East Asia diasporas migrated to. I speak both Cantonese and Amoy dialects at home and with some friends.
People from these mandarin speaking belt don't usually have problem learning standard mandarin accent but Beijing accent is hard for those outside Beijing and north east to pick up since many have only moved to work there for a few years.
Beijing where this drama was set in and north east provinces have very distinct and heavy accent like Cockney for English accent while Shanghai which is another film production hub uses standard mandarin which is easier for everyone in China to pick up.
In this drama, I think most actors dub themselves but the Beijing accent is not very strong which was why some even thought it was a Taiwanese production.
Doudou is obviously dubbed by another actor probably it was her first acting job and some lines are too hard for young person to memorise and utter.
Next week, the episodes will be the start of second half of the series, we should know whether it is BL or bromance route it is taking. If it is the latter, they'd better have some good excuses for wu bi intense jealousy and su yi ambiguous thoughts about his stepbrother!
In Asian fujoshi circle, such stepbrothers' love is considered very hot which was mentioned in History 2 (crossing…
Social Justice Warriors you will often find them in comment section, hating a drama when there is no censual kiss. If this drama later has a scene where wu bi touches su yu face and give a peck, SJW may come out in force to lower the rating.
I never thought of stepbrother romance as it is something rarely happening in real life. I had a crush on my younger cousin in teenage years and we had our virgin sex as 13 & 11 years old but nothing developed further due to time apart later on. Do you think such relationship was an incest?
What I gathered from this comment section people don’t know what incest means nor they understand the difference…
In Asian fujoshi circle, such stepbrothers' love is considered very hot which was mentioned in History 2 (crossing the line) by the fujoshi school mate which I find very funny.
SJW also dislike the original Addicted for its 'abusive and toxic' relationship which, from my experience in an all boy school, I can tell you many of our schoolmates did play such touching, cuddling and resisting acts during their early puberty, even most of them later turned out to be straight.
How come she used thunder to kill ? That thunder attacked only one and don't harm any one else. How could ahe…
She uses her influence in the Embroidery Unit to sew the curtains for Grand Consort Yu’s buddhist tent. She sews conductive threads (hence, she practices balancing the needles on water for 8 hours) into thick material (Grand Consort Yu’s head palace maid comments on the coarse and thickness of the curtain when thin silk was meant to be used). Consort Yu was the only one near the curtain when lightning struck.
