lol, yea, WH doesnt want to, his dad said it, everyone said it 🤣 but because his parents n his friends are at the canal, n in a sense, we saw that when he’s in emotional turmoil, he would go to the river, his heart is still belonged to the canal. I understand you feel it’s absurd, Thats why I explained the bond between the ML and SML are that of brothers, and they always want the best for each other. and because they love the girl so much, whoever can provide well for her (because in their mind, she deserves it), can have her, because their love is not about possessing her, but giving her what makes her happy. in the end, WH admitted he wanted to possesses her 😉 and said to SML that even if he agrees to let SML takes her, FH wouldn’t, in the end, it’s what FH’s wish to be.

they don’t wait for each other. I’m not sure how/why you come to this conclusion. they were not rushing to claim each other because they know each other. she loves him, but always feel he’s not in love with her as much as she is in love with him. Thats why only later on, when she has enough confirmation, she asked if he has a crush on her (keep in mind, she had I think twice confessed her love for him but always get rejected/brushed off 😆 being rejected before, she kinda know her place lol, and hence not confess any further).

in regards to why WH did not outright ask her out, because in his own words, he explained that he wanted to have the house, the money, the security then he will ask her because to him, shes worth it, and he wants her to feel how special she is to him (it’s silly, but that his ideas).

no worry at all, I enjoyed discussing dramas. however, I disagree with she always choose this kind of scripts: if you talk about love triangle, almost 99% of Chinese drama there will be a love triangle. however, almost none of BL’s drama where she was with a guy then break up with him then be with the ML, apart from SOKP. in almost all of her dramas, she knew who she wants to be with, it’s not her fault that other guys are interested in her and want to pursuit her?! using just 1 trope - love triangle to say she pick the same kind of script is a little bit harsh 😐 because that is too vast lol.

there’s a difference here though. technically they all grew up together, they have been friends for so long, they are practically family, but they also know they are not blood related, so there bounds to be crush/swayed of emotions. and each of these kids are good kid, they stand up for each other, be there for each other, if you are not moved by that, then Thats strange! lol!there was even a moment where I felt HaiKou feel something special about FH: asking her to have dinner with him to welcome him home. if it’s not close friend, idk what is.contrary to the typical idol angst, this drama doesnt make you feel that way. yes, XC can’t be with FH, and he’s sad about it, and shes sad that she made him sad, but they understood they both each other’s family and love each other in a way. the drama has always show positive light at the end of the tunnel.and you know they are not milking the angst, it’s when WH said: I’m not stopping you (from confessing with FH). and times n times again, WH would keep thinking of helping XC. he never once think or doing anything to jeopardise XC because of FH! nor do you see XC does anything to sabotage the other. which is very much like real life as well. irl, ppl understands love can’t be forced, and so even though you’ll be sad, you will have to learn to be ok!

also it seems you misinterpreted everything: FH (fl) has been in love with ml since she was young. there was flashback of her trying to kiss him, and he knew it! and the amount of times their parents teased them about FH loves him = you will be blind to not notice lol. and FH’s love for WH is not expressed through words but actions. and WH noticed that. Thats why he’s deeply in love with her. even the last thing FH did, was for WH! so her love for him was not out of the blue!
2nd - there is no jealousy cliche (as explained at the beginning)
3 - he waited for her because he knew himself. he’s a very smart boy, at a young age, he always knows what he wants. and their relationship isn’t just a quick meeting here n there. their relationship has a foundation of 27+years! she made a mark on his heart during his lowest points: when no one believes him, not his parents, not his teacher and not his friend, she was there, telling him he can do it all if he just believe himself! when he kept failing and giving up, she was there, reminding him he has her and so pick yourself up where you fail. she has stopped telling him she wants to marry him, but she has always quietly being there for him, without expecting anything in return. if you don’t love this kind of women, the audience would throw plates and bowls at the TV 😆

agree that He’s wife is terrible, but FH isn’t wrong. you should fight for your rights, especially in China, where they will skim you if they can. however, FH didn’t know the way He’a wife goes about it. as seen later on, she’s very much opposed their method
