Thanks for this bit of info. The references to Jade Rabbit make soo much more sense now. :) It wasn't explained…
There are so many moments like this in this drama. It's a very cerebral drama, yet not over dramatizing and subtle. Another example would be when his Leader, Guan Zai, is in the hospital, and, in front of Yu Tu, his wife mentions about the "meat buns" she bought him from the stall down in front of the building that he has enjoyed so much. If you're not paying really close attention, you won't realize that this is a SUBTLE indication of how much Yu Tu THINKS about JingJing in everything by this point. When he leaves to go to see JingJing, he goes down to the stall and buys her 'meat buns' for the 1st time.... ..AND.. ..that's why the PDs have her make such a big deal about WHY he all-of-a-sudden bought her 'meat buns'. ...Viewers might just think -- 'Ahhh...she's upset it'll make her fat' -- but that wasn't the REAL point to those scenes, now were they? ๐
This is how this drama rolls. You have to truly appreciate it as poetic art, because not only is it cerebral like this, but the visuals, and I don't mean the co-stars, as far as texture, design concepts, & cinematography, are so masterful and on point. ๐
I was thinking about how important the '๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ข๐ญ' [็ๅ - ๐รน๐ญรน] is to this drama. I don't think the drama, or the novel, really explained it. Again, I've said, with regards to certain '๐ค๐ง๐จ๐ฐ๐ง' facts in China, because they're just part of std cultural history, many ๐๐จ๐ซ๐๐ข๐ ๐ง๐๐ซ๐ฌ aren't going to automatically know the backstory, and why Yu Tu's aerospace unit is so stuck on the mobilization of their new rover. So, I decided to provide the context to JingJing's comment, "๐๐จ๐ฎ ๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐ฅ๐ซ๐๐๐๐ฒ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐ซ๐๐๐๐ข๐ญ ๐ฐ๐ก๐จ ๐ก๐๐ฌ ๐ฌ๐๐๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐ฆ๐จ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ซ๐ฌ." & the 'Jade Rabbit's backstory, and why :
The fact that Jing Jing used this comment to encourage Yu Tu, himself, regarding his past work, whether he stays an Aerospace Engineer or does something else proves how much she continued to follow his interest, and how much she truly cares. As opposed to any other potential female interest Yu Tu could have, she is the only one who provides him comfort in a way suitable to his personality.
Additionally, there is China's Yutu-2 rover on the moon that is currently operational. It was launched 7 December 2018, with the landing site being on the far side of the moon. As of 12 May, 2021, it has traveled 2,326 ft/708.9 m as opposed to Yutu-1's final distance traveled of 377 ft/114.8 m. I point this out, because it is very likely that the rover our ML's unit is working on putting so much diligent effort into making sure it can travel well, is THIS rover.
Let's not spread or eat ๐here!! People taking advantage of the Kris Wu atmosphere is simply BS. It has no place…
It upsets me because this ๐ is stupid anyway! 1st, it's his private life. 2nd, it's not underaged, or anything ILLEGAL. 3rd, if the ๐ is true that was 2 years of dating, AND FOR AN ACTOR THAT'S A LONG TIME. 4th, it's only 1 woman. 5th, ghosting someone when you're busy acting sometimes happens. I think a lot of girls AND guys have had stuff like that happen. 6th, their breakup, AFTER 2 YEARS, is none of our business, let alone who, how, and why he dated someone as well, for wealth, looks, personality, w/e tf it is. Who cares?!
The only reason this so-called "comic mrkting acct" is getting attn for this ๐ is because it's a supposed FAN he was dating! Is there a law against meeting a FAN and connecting, and deciding to date them I'm unaware of now???
Again, if what the ๐ said is true, it's not like he took advantage of her, forced her to be intimate, then dumped her ass. She willingly spent money on him. Fine. She paid to be with him at his set. Fine. A guy isn't ready to have a family wants to make sure you don't pull a 'Sarah Casinghini' on a Mike D'Angelo, and ask her to use BC isn't strange. How is that unusual? HE WAS WITH HER FOR 2 YEARS. LMFAO! Break ups happen. He's with you for 2 years and you say he left you after financially using you and got bored with you this month?? HE'S FUCKING BUSY PROMOTING RIGHT NOW!! If this really is his former girlfriend, I feel sorry for him, and I'm glad he broke up with her.
Let's not spread or eat ๐here!! People taking advantage of the Kris Wu atmosphere is simply BS. It has no place…
Well, YY is NOT an IDOL. He's an actor. The only IDOL on that movie set was Zhu Zhengting. The whole Kris Wu situation is regarding IDOLs and their crazy ass fandoms when something goes wrong. Thus, bring up ๐ stuff here isn't going to help her clarify shit, because we're foreigners for the most part who don't follow weibo trends, nor every single piece of Chinese gossip.
Just saw some negatif rumour about yang yang..hope its not true and damage the drama..
Let's not spread or eat ๐here!! People taking advantage of the Kris Wu atmosphere is simply BS. It has no place here, and has nothing to do with this drama or this actress, or supporting cast, or this production.
At the HS reunion right? I hope there's more then 2.
Clips of Yu Tu hugging JJ from behind are at the "Jing City No. 1 Middle School" where he takes her after that...it remains to be seen if we get the scenes from the originally created last chapter, OR the hot and steamy one of the REVISED last chapter. lol....
As it stands, I don't want to get people's hopes up because Gu Man, herself, said that she only revised it because of the complaints about the kiss she wrote, but, alas, even with the steamier version, her readers still said they preferred the originally written chapter. So, my guess, they'll keep it like the original, and we'll have to wait and see for more. =/
Just saw an interview with Reba where the interviewer said that YangYang, in a previous interview, said he would get a bit shy with Reba during their kissing scenes and asked her if she felt the same.
Reba's answer?
NO! Not at all.
Poor Yang Yang.... I guess he didn't know what to do with himself now that he gets an actress who actually knows how to do a proper kiss scene.
Freaking cannot wait to see it!! I think there's a reason that they've never spoiled in any trailer of a FULL kiss between them and we have no idea how many they'll have. ;) I simply know that, based on the novel, their 1st kiss should be in Ep. 21.
I'm not sure what you're talking about?โ If you search the Popular drama list on Douban it's No. 1. โ It tops…
Of course, because the novel is very short and 80% from JJ's perspective. 80% of the problems with his co-workers, and stuff that happens at his work is guess work. We got a very cursory understanding of what was going on with him, mainly from what he says to her, and the rumor mill chapters. ;) In order to have a fully developed ML character, the PDs and scriptwriters definitely had to fill in the gaps.
As I've said before, this drama follows the novel to a T, not leaving anything out and adding very little extra.
No need to understand Mandarin but just YY's inability to keep a straight face and say his lines, is too funny!…
I love this. Do you see the ring on his finger??? He was startled at how natural a wife act she was putting on. That's such a natural thing to do, and he never recovered from it. lol. ==so, excited because it just goes to show that they're putting every little epilogue scene into this drama. This is when he's taking her to his job. hahaha.
I must say, when I read the novel (after the first week of airing) I started enjoying the drama even more. Especially…
It's a problem. I sometimes feel like we should all pool together and hire those UN translators who have to get every nuance and technical matter translated perfectly. Aiya... It can really be frustrating when they play loose and fast with the subs. =/
The trailer for episodes 19-24 are out and all I can say is Yu Tu is in hot pursuit within the first 2 episodes, and the original novel's ending happenings in episode 21.
That means the 16 chapter, sweet as honey, epilogue of their 2-3 year dating relationship antics start by the end of that episode. They're in full swing of their romance and enjoying clowning each other to spice up their relationship by ep 22, showing the dynamics of their relationship. By episode 23, the wolfish side of Yu Tu comes out. lol. By ep. 24, he's got her staying at his house for 3 days, and, unbeknownst to them, the Papz are camped outside his door after trailing them.
BTW, in Ep. 24, Janice Wu will play the actress that's Jing Jing's BFF that JJ couldn't betray by watching her BFF's ex-b/f's movie with Yu Tu when he asked. LFMAO.
How are all of you YAMGlorians doing today? Another wait for more episodes but in the meantime we can chat about…
Someone down the comments was complaining that YT doesn't have any style and wears the same windbreaker and clothes in almost every scene. lol.... Then I read the story, and realized, that's Yu Tu to a T. hahaha.
People, don't worry. He let's her play dress up with him. In certain ways, to prove his love, he becomes a very submissive man. ;)
without the "passive" aggressiveness and "implied" insults, their convo went like this:Xia Qing: starts off trying…
LMFAO., the thing is... without that actually being the dialogue, Yang Yang embodied Yu Tu and this sentiment with his body language so well, you know what he meant. The whole scene was pure art.
Istg there's a clip on Twitter someone posted that shows that part where YT walks past the JJ poster at the bus stop and as he passes the light on the poster goes out. This was just after the 2nd rejection.. Can we just stop and appreciate the kind of freaking art noveau cinematography style this drama has? The aesthetics are pleasing along with the fact that they're following the book basically line by line. The OST is just the *Chef's Kiss* to the whole thing.
I must say, when I read the novel (after the first week of airing) I started enjoying the drama even more. Especially…
Tencent subtitling isn't at the level of, say, Viki app with TNs to elaborate on cultural norms and, for mainly C-Dramas, the proper meaning of an idiom. Tencent subtitling is very perfunctory. With Gu Man's subtle yet detailed style of writing, I think some of what was happening went over foreign viewers heads. I really believe that people should read the novel in its entirety if they want to enjoy the drama. That's just my opinion.
Like you, I've loved it much, much more afterward, and it actually has brought me to tears quite a few times. Yang Yang's depiction of Yu Tu is unbelievably good. I really can see now how good an actor he really is because he's literally become Yu Tu. I went back and rewatched the other episodes again, and realized there was SO MUCH body language I missed. The biggest one was after she left him at the front of the restaurant. Before I was like, yeah, he's stressed out over everything. ...but then I read the book and was like... wow, he's incredible.
the drama follows the novel to the tee ( especially the important lines that make up the novel) and yes the epilogues…
Gu Manโs note to the end of that chapter talked about this โfamous aerospace engineerโ who decided to publish his love letters to his wifeโฆ. Fans were excited to read it. When they picked it up, they found that it was about basic physics and cosmology. LMFAO!
I feel like readers of the novel need to convey to viewers, who have no intention to read the source material of this drama, the subtle, and emotionally healthy points Gu Man is making. Character growth, EQ, relationship balance, and communication, are always central to her plots. Thatโs why, even if people make attempts to cause problems, they are always shutdown immediately, [ref. Love O2O or Boss & Me] For YAMG, I was absolutely floored how much Yang Yang had injected Yu Tu into his veins when he acted the scene in the book where he gets angry and defensive on JJโs behalf. He acted it EXACTLY how I imagined that scene in my head when I read it!
The most important part of this โhealthyโ emotional growth is understanding that, if Yu Tu, accepts her from the start, she will ALWAYS be at a disadvantage in the relationship, no matter how famous and rich she is! She will have been a FEMALE who pursued her mate. She will have been the one who could later have doubts because sheโll feel she always โloved him moreโ than he loved her. Didnโt his send off to his ex- clarify that?
Yu Tu has to feel all the pain of his stupidity in not taking the time to get to know someone because of his own arrogance and selfishness. He needs to pine over her for a LONG time! In the novel it is quite a few months, now isnโt it! His months must be equal to her 10-12 years! His Team Leader and co-workers even say it: He is melancholy, anti-social, sighing & looking up at the starsโฆitโs so romantic girls in his team are falling head over heels for himโฆbecause everyone can see how lovesick he is at that moment. The Team Leader points out that YT has never been this way before!! The drama encapsulates the entirety of Yu Tuโs emotional character growth. Thatโs why we donโt necessarily need to SEE JJ crying and pining as well!!!!! Because sheโs been there, done that! This is showing itโs HIS turn!! To equal out and balance the relationship!!! Itโs a necessary progression.. and itโs sad so many viewers donโt understand this and, thus, FEEL BORED over watching their ML perfecting himself for his woman!!!
JJ deserves to be the pursued NOW, and he has to have the proper character growth to stop being so arrogant and selfish in front of the woman he loves. He already told his mom thatโs sheโs not gonna get a doting daughter-in-law but the opposite. This is after worrying so long about his mom heโd quit a job he LOVES to protect!!! If people are so BORED they skip over these subtle hints that Gu Man lays down, again, I just feel like: SORRY! Itโs your loss, not mine!
Maybe because it is one of the very few times you'll get the see the FL for this week's episodes. :D
In the novel, he's like an adult Xiao Nai, in that, when provoked or they don't get to see each other for extended periods, he becomes 'a beast'. ...so the BTS with them lying on the bed peaked my interest quite a bit. LOL! ๐
You know what? I think you're totally missing out if you haven't read the novel in its entirety. If you lack patience with this drama, and exit now, I'll feel bad for you.
This novel was original a short story, not enough to generate even 21 episodes at this current length. However, Gu Man added 16 chapters of epilogue that are PURE sugary romance. It legit is them and their life together, and how they progress, over 2-3 years.
I've seen quite a bit of the BTS and it's obvious that this drama will encapsulate all 16 epilogues. LOL. At 18 episodes, we're at the part of the story just before the epilogues begin. I've also watched all 18, and I can tell you straight up that this drama follows the story practically line by line with nothing missing, and very little added.
That means if you give up watching it now because it's "boring", so be it... it's your loss. hahaha.
This is how this drama rolls. You have to truly appreciate it as poetic art, because not only is it cerebral like this, but the visuals, and I don't mean the co-stars, as far as texture, design concepts, & cinematography, are so masterful and on point. ๐
