Maybe because it is one of the very few times you'll get the see the FL for this week's episodes. :D
Well, they're following the novel... Yu Tu has to go through this, because Jing Jing has always been the pursuer and now it's time for her to be the pursued instead.
Once he says to her, "....I'm going to be proactive from now on...." this drama is going to kill everyone watching it. You're gonna be dead, and you're gonna be dead while you watch Reba being cute.
Just confirmed with my friend, the series is not that popular with nitizens as it is with waigouren. Anyone who…
I'm not sure what you're talking about?
✅ If you search the Popular drama list on Douban it's No. 1. ✅ It tops the list on drama popularity on TVMao and currently carries a rating of 9.5 there, with mostly positive reviews. ✅ It tops the list on manmankan. ✅ It tops Tencent Video list with 'Love is True' second. Tencent Video is also airing the Olympics so the dramas have to compete with those views. It's surpassed 1.3 billion views, and those are all Chinese, because they don't count international views whatsoever. ✅ All the current data metrics have the drama first, as well as both lead actors.
Whatever problems netizens had with this drama, they'll have to STFU because the next 6 episodes will have nothing to do with a handheld game. In fact, that won't be a part of the drama's direction in the future.
I've read the novel and this entire drama is based on it down to exact dialogue. If you took the story itself and made it into a drama, it won't work, because it's, at most, a short cute story. However, Gu Man added 16 complete epilogue chapters that are just their life together. The fact that there is BTS of them together on a boat, and in the dessert with her dressed in historical costuming proves to me, they're going to do the entire 16 chapters...which means, LOOK OUT FOR UTTER SUGAR AND SWEETNESS.... I don't think I've ever watched a drama that will show what I think they'll be showing...and I'm looking forward to it...
Yes! That was the reason I was so excited about this, because I love all drama adaptations of her work. My favorite…
Every one of her adaptations I love and have rated 9/10 or higher. Come & Eat, Shan Shan (drama adaptation name Boss & Me) is my favorite. =)
I think the thing I love most about them is the CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. The characters aren't 100% perfect. They have flaws but what makes them perfect is how the grow and learn and develop MATURE COMMUNICATIONS skills. They say and do things you EXPECT for your normal average everyday citizen. They feel like people who fit into society. That see in your life and on the street and work place everyday. That's exactly the reason why much of her stuff is relatable.
You know why this drama is fresh and beautiful? Gu Man! I have finally read the novel and this drama is almost following it to a T with not much deviation, including the OTP’s words and actions. Gu Man writes relatable stories with couples who struggle in the mature ways we are seeing in regular life without all the additional nonsense and interference tropes you usually see. It’s why I love her writings so much.
I know what you are saying, You are saying that QJJ's unsolicited adverstisement would have been worth something…
I blame subtitling not the drama itself. When the drama is talking about his job, his college mates jobs, her job, and during their night walk he does read the endorsement, so that an average person in China would know what the worth of it is.
This is a Chinese drama, it's not up to them to make it explanatory to foreign viewers. We're lucky we get to watch this with subtitles. I provide the context because of this fact. Consider it the same as getting Translator Notes [TN] in Viki app to further explain what they're subtitling. Frankly, WeTV doesn't provide that level of context so you shouldn't expect it, nor downvote the drama because of a person's lack of Chinese culture, economics, and norms. ;)
Btw, I'll remind everyone that foreign views aren't even considered in Tencent's viewership stats, so that shows how much they care about whether we enjoy the drama or not. This is mainly for Chinese consumption. They're not worried if we downvote it because on all the Chinese data stats pages the drama as well as both starring actors have been on the top of the lists since the drama was released. Many netizens note that this is no small feat since the release of this drama competes against Olympics viewership, yet they're still pulling in big record numbers of views. =)
I finally got around to reading the novel, and WOW! It really does clarify a lot of the criticism people are throwing at it.
Below I made a long post regarding Yu Tu's salary, believing, based on the drama, he worked for Xi'an Aircraft Industrial Corp. Turns out, in the novel, Yu Tu actually works for Shanghai Aerospace Institution. My suggested Yu Tu earnings was based on the other company, but now that it's Shanghai which is MUCH lower than Xi'an, let me correct it. SAI's base salary is $239,188 CNY per year. I was saying that Yu Tu was making likely $46K USD working at Xi'an. Turns out he's making $37K USD working for SAI. [Salary Ref data: https://www.salaryexpert.com/salary/job/aerospace-engineering-head/china/shanghai ] [Ref. comment link: https://kisskh.at/62337-you-are-my-glory#comment-6849483]
Yu Tu really is poor.
But then some commenters were bitching about "..why Yu Tu not get paid by Jing Jing for coaching..." Most replies were that they are former schoolmates, & I even felt, based on the drama, that he did it because he felt guilty about the online bashing of him rejecting her in high school.
Turns out, based on the novel, we were all wrong, those complaining about him not getting paid as well. It seemed to all go over everyone's head, but the interaction and reasoning is clearly stated in the novel but was a bit brushed over in the drama.
Here's the gist: "...Yu Tu clicked to go into WeChat. The research institute’s large work group was currently discussing this in full swing, and about three or four people had simultaneously posted a screenshot of Qiao Jing Jing’s Weibo post. ... ...Xie Yue Yi Lun: I’ve already asked. He said they did not hire her! They asked a less well-known star before and the charge was three hundred thousand for a post, so how would they even dare consider Qiao Jing Jing?"
So, besides her telling him her dilemma, and handing his company a unsolicited endorsement of one of their products that's estimated to be worth more than $300K CNY ...she goes on to beg him: "..Anyway you’re on vacation, so it should not affect your work …"
And although he felt he was in a difficult position he replied, “You trust me?” When she said yes, he felt it was so similar to when she asked him for help with math, & he didn't even remember why he rejected her back then...and his own thoughts NOW? "..I really have no reason to refuse at this moment. I do have nothing to do currently." So, he agrees.
I thought this was gonna b a cool drama about some game I neva heard of.BUT, it turns out to be a...Shameless…
Except it's literally the game Honor of Kings they're playing, it's not 100% about gaming. Yu Tu plays games to unwind since his real job is an Aerospace Engineer, and this drama is based ENTIRELY on a story written by Gu Man published by Jiuzhou Press; 1st edition (May 1, 2019) at 345 pages.
The drama was confirmed Oct. 19, 2020, and started filming December 16, 2020, and ended filming January 12, 2021 and is entirely based on Gu Man's book, including the EXACT game she uses in her book. Not 'Wild Rift' nor is 'Wild Rift' even mentioned. On top of that, beta release of 'Wild Rift' in the USA was done March, 2021, 2 months AFTER this drama was completed, and has been approved by NPPA in 2021, although there's not set release date by Tencent, and while doing this drama they had no way of knowing when or even IF the NPPA would approve it for release....
so please don't go making up your own erroneous stories to smear the drama. If you don't like the subject matter fine, but don't accuse production of things they haven't done.
I wasn't planning to watch this because I have already read the books and I am not a fan of Yang Zi's acting.…
I actually felt really bad for her to have any lasting footage of her in any relationship to him. I’m glad she made such a statement. Very respectful and dignified. I know you aren’t, but I happen to be a fan of hers and this just solidifies her worth to me.
U guys ask any decent 30 year old PhD engineer or other occupation in your circle if they can take care of their…
Oops. You're totally right.
So his accepting to help her out for fun and for free, out of the goodness, and kindness of his heart was two-fold. He original agreed to help her out as an online QQ friend...then agreed to help in person when he realized she was his schoolmate that got dissed publicly because of him. ;) No more explanation is needed other than Yu Tu is a nice guy with a month's worth of vacation time on his hands.
It's pretty serious when the CCP bans all fan supportive forum sites, CCTV and other agency admonish fans from showing any support, and they mute 3 entertainment industry women's accounts who had participated in slut shaming women who reported on Kris's behavior back in 2016 so that they are unable to defend him again. Then police out and confirm his mom for providing hush mom from Canada, when she had already been rumored to have done this same thing in the 2016 bed pic incident.
On August 1, QQ Music, NetEase Cloud Music, Kugou Music and other music platforms have removed Wu Yifan’s singer information and personal music works.
Wu Yifan and his studio Weibo , Weibo Chaohua, Douban Character Homepage, Baidu Baijiahao, Baidu Tieba , Toutiao, iQiyi Bubble Circle, etc. have all been banned, and the official blog of the TV series "Qing Zan Xing" has also deleted the relevant content.
Today, it is reported that Wu Yifan's info has disappeared from the homepage of the films and television dramas he has participated in and became the code name 1337000.
U guys ask any decent 30 year old PhD engineer or other occupation in your circle if they can take care of their…
I like how you skipped over my explanation. At 30, he's making $46K USD per year at his employment with Xi'An, PERIOD . Fine that he's single. But ask any "30 year old PhD engineer or other occupation" if they can support a wife and kids on that, while covering the cost of the healthcare for 1 of your parents when they get cancer. That is his dilemma. He's not living in YOUR world but his! He can NOT get a raise, based on Xi'an's pay grade for another 10 years. YES, his work is based on YEARS WORKED, end of discussion.
Additionally, you obviously didn't pay attention to what was going on in this drama. Their high school group chat had talked shit about her being rejected by Yu Tu. It hit the headlines and became part of public gossip articles about the FAMOUS ACTRESS. He felt personally BAD about it so he went into the group chat to explain that this wasn't the case AND he ALSO stated, "...if there's anything else that needs to be done, let me know..." She originally brought him there under false pretenses, BUT immediately disclosed this fact to him then when she said, "...let's go for a walk..." not taking him up to her home said false issue, she let him know her exact issues. She asked for his help, and since he is on vacation for a month, she is a classmate that got publicly smeared over issues surrounding him, and he stated that he'd help with anything else, he WILLINGLY agreed to help her, FOR FREE, AND BRING HER BREAKFAST TO BOOT, of his own accord... AND THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED.
Please stop re-interpreting the facts of this drama to meet your own personal life and needs.
I always feel like Yang Yang's acting is a bit stiff.. Is it better in this drama?
I'm a Love O2O fan, and in the 1st episode I said, "...is this Xiao Nai on steriods...". Now I think he's anything BUT Xiao Nai. He doesn't have any of the qualities of Xiao Nai as a person, other than he gets attention for being smart and handsome. He is social but has few close friends. His school mates put him down, and his work is proprietary, thus, govt clearance is required in order for him to divulge anything about what he does.
At the point these 2 meet, they are 30, and both have their own quality work related issues that are juxtaposed to each other. Yu Tu is struggling under a lot of various pressures that he cannot talk about as a whole to anyone. Over the course of the 1st 12 episodes, he went from a conflicted introvert, holding in a multitude of emotions, to an emotionally freer human whenever he's with the FL. The only time he smiles, and he does so heartily, is when he is with her and her circle of colleagues. When he's with her, at this point, he carries 3 different expresses effortlessly that portray his inner thoughts about her: 1) dumbfounded, 2) amused, 3) touched. ...this is a slow burn... so the "in love" may or may not be there. It's up for the viewer watching Yu Tu to decide. ;)
Actually, you're statement is erroneous. You can merely google this information easily to verify. Chinese EX:☑️…
It's a 2-fold situation for YT. Banking is NOT merit based and economic driven, i.e. years put into the company. His aerospace govt job is based in the amount of years you have worked for the company for each increase. If you look at the link you can see how many years you have to work to get each additional pay increase. His working at Xi'an will mean he has to work at least a decade or more longer before he come close to what he can make now in investment banking. It's a real dilemma for him, and no small matter. Anyone wanting to trivialize his plight in this drama hasn't been in the workforce long, and doesn't understand what the loss of potential income over-time means to a person's retirement. I worked in aerospace i.e airlines as well as mfr, industrial building mfr, and cost analysis. I have a IB degree with a minor in Finance, and was recruited into aerospace by All Nippon Airways, although it wasn't my field of expertise, and they trained me fully. Now I'm self employed. I can completely appreciate the situation Yu Tu is in and that's why I felt the need to come to his defense.
I watched it to ep 12Yep my hope was let downA work college who got terminal disease (weak). And im still not sure…
Actually, you're statement is erroneous. You can merely google this information easily to verify.
Chinese EX: ☑️ If you work as an Engineer for Shanghai Aerospace, you'll be making $160k-$170K CNY, which is the equivalent to $26K USD per year. This is in 2021 inflationary dollars.
☑️ Further, a typical aerospace engineer in China actually makes between $287K CNY/$44K USD ~ $661K CNY/$102K and salary is based on years of experience. So to get the jump to the highest pay, you have had to work for 20 years in your field. The AVG is $402K CNY/$62K USD
☑️ On the other hand, you can read financial data from Wall Street analysts regarding "INVESTMENT BANKING" in China. Around a decade ago, China, starting climbing and becoming a leader in investment banking in Asia. NOW PRESENTLY, which is the basis of this drama, China has become a leader in investment banking, inc, DCM, ECM, as well as M&As. By 2016, China had taken over 76.6% of investment banking, in terms of fees, in Asia.
☑️ With this basis, Wall Street analysts have noted that previously banking worker lower salaries have been steadily increasing due to the realization that pay matters to maintaining topnotch employees in the field. Which means, that although local banks/securities are paying between comparatively $40K ~ $60K USD, the large banks are paying between $80K-$100K. That's not based in years of experience, that's IMMEDIATELY.
༶•┈┈⛧┈♛ ♛┈⛧┈┈•༶
🔘 So, if we sum all this information up, as well as include the dialogue of various scenes of this drama where the discussion of salaries, etc have been made, we can surmise this about Yu Tu's CURRENT situation:
✅ Yu Tu works for Xi'an Aircraft Industrial Corporation, based on the dramas information. The AVG salary for their employees is $385K CNY/$59K USD per year and is based on experience. We know, based on the time gap between graduating high school, or the last time he saw JJ, to now, is ~10 years. That includes his time in college which, generally is 4 years, but he's also a double major. For kicks, let's give him the high side. That means at most he's at +32% of the STARTING SALARY which would be ~ $300K. So, he is likely currently making $46K USD/yr. For a single man that can work. Add a wife, kids, and taking care of your parents... ¯\_(ツ゚)_/¯ [http://www.salaryexplorer.com/salary-survey.php?loc=3186&loctype=3]
✅ If we take the discussion with his friends in Finance, especially the conversational part about his current roommate/friend, saying that he's made $1M CNY the previous year. This equates to $150K USD per year. Of course, his college mates told him he'd likely have to start at the bottom of the ladder, but Yu Tu has many connections so he's not going to a SMALL or LOCAL bank, but a BIG banking firm. As stated before, and as the drama dialogue would suggest, that means that, at the least, he'd be making between $60K ~ $80K USD per year right off the bat.
✅ so if you add ✅⇔✅ that means that Yu Tu is debating between staying another 5 years in Aerospace to go from making $46K USD/yr to $64K USD/yr working endlessly and never seeing friends or family VERSUS making minimum $60K USD/yr NOW and within a few years getting paid similarly to his friends at over $100K USD/ year.
I mean if you think leaving $40K USD per year on the table that you could be saving and investing is not being a man, and he should "STFU" about it... I'd question your logic. For ANY Middle Class family THIS would be a HUGE decision to contemplate... So, I beg to differ with your interpretation.
Lots of the stuff you wrote is Japanese, so I do not understand. But, those portions that I do understand, they…
Actually, the only thing Japanese is the drama I'm comparing this this to based on the weibo/istg similarities. 乔晶晶工作室 is the Chinese weibo account that is using the Chinese pseudo-actress, Qiao Jing Jing, as the basis. Qiao Jing Jing is not a REAL person but the FL character in this drama played by Dilireba. [the pseudo weibo acct: https://weibo.com/u/1615524812?refer_flag=1005050010_&is_all=1]
The 乔晶晶工作室 [Qiao Jingjing Studio] weibo account is everything I didn't know I wanted for this drama. Reminds me of 'Kikazaru Koi ni wa Riyuu ga Atte' where Mashiba Kurumi's istg account was posted that matched up with the drama. This kind of immersion just puts dramas on a whole new level.
Not only did they post JJ's schedule but they 'refuted' her relationship with Yu Tu stating, "..please don't read too much into this. He's a classmate." LMFAO! ....[such perfection]
For anyone thinking that it should be normal for a production company to cancel or alter an actor's contract, and affect other actors who are innocent over an individual's private matters, I suggest that Korean talent agencies should **now** consider making certain addendums to their contract to avoid this kind of thing in the future from destroying their talent's livelihood to combat those ideas/attitudes.
As to Koreans in general, I'm just gonna state that your own Supreme Court justices disagreed with you back in 2015 when they overturned all laws criminalizing adultery on the precondition that it 𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 and the 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐮𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 includes 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐭𝐞 which includes one's sex life, and that said sex live is a 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞 matter.
That being said, this person is not a married man to boot. So, if your courts say this about someone 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐝 what are you ALL on about in 2021?
Do many find it distasteful behavior? You betcha! But it's not criminal. IT'S PRIVATE. Which means NOT PUBLIC, nor to be involved with their PUBLIC LIFE that includes their EMPLOYMENT.
I'm just gonna drop this here and say, 'Nowadays, people all around the world have lost their ever freaking loving minds over Canceling people and their careers over things they "DISLIKE" about someone and their behavior. MIND YOUR OWN FUCKING BUSINESS![https://www.cnn.com/2015/02/26/asia/south-korea-adultery/index.html]

Not only did they post JJ's schedule but they 'refuted' her relationship with Yu Tu stating, "..please don't read too much into this. He's a classmate." LMFAO! ....[such perfection]
