Wow. I'm actually stunned at some of the comments.
I get that there will always be a variety of views and perspectives but some just really seem to defy logical reasoning.
Take the comments about Bai Jing Ting looking like a teenager or even a middle schooler that they cannot take him seriously in this role. LMFAO. Even to the point of saying, '...he's better in a School Drama than this...' like WTF? Seriously? Bai Jing Ting is a 27 year old man ๐ซ๐๐ ๐๐ซ๐๐ฅ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ of how young he appears to the viewer. What's more ๐ซ๐๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐? A grown ass man acting like a 16 year old or a grown ass man acting his age? You don't think a 20 year old can be an EMT, a firefighter, a policeman because the dude irl looks like a flower boy and has a cute baby face? My son is 20 and one of his beautiful friends from high school, who happens to be a female, has been an independent EMT for 2 years now, and just past testing to be apart of a firefighter station, and lives there with the men. For those who cannot count, that's 18 years of age to start! ~and it's FEMALE. Maybe American standards are different than Asian, but if so, that's utterly sad that LOOKS matter more. hahahaha.....
Check yourselves and your attitudes regarding ๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐ฌ๐จ๐ง๐๐ฅ ๐๐ฉ๐ฉ๐๐๐ซ๐๐ง๐๐ being everything to a character. How vain do you have to be that this is all you concern yourself with about an actor/actress? The ageism and attractive stereotyping is just sad in this day and age, I'm baffled how prevalent it still is.
By this standard, the K-Drama, American Drama, J-Drama, & Turkish Drama of 'The Good Doctor' should be an utter flop and people disgusted by it. Thankfully, people can look past the '๐๐๐๐ฒ ๐๐๐๐' and accept the concept of someone being intelligent and capable despite their ๐ฅ๐จ๐จ๐ค๐ฌ ๐จ๐ซ ๐๐ ๐.
Yep. This is actually the S2 the producers were referring to. The dramas are based on the novel trilogy referred…
Yes and no. Basically, the trilogy novels by which Ashes of Love as a drama was sourced does not have a sequel per se. The author has an online novel where they have been recently writing a Book 2 for Ashes of Love, but, as written, it is not a continuation of the Ashes of Love lead characters story, but years later about Run Yuโs story.
As indicated above, Ashes of Love is part of a 3 novel compilation, where each story is basically a standalone story. However, again, that doesnโt preclude the PDs of Ashes of Love, the drama, to hire script writers and create their own Ashes of Love sequel, however, the PDs never indicated they were going to do that. Instead they made dramas of the other 2 standalone novels from the trilogy compilation. Those dramas are this one, โSkate Into Loveโ, & the yet to be released, โLove When the Stars Fallโ. Hope that answers your question.
Let's say that, due to Korean defamation laws, saying things about someone's work in a derogatory manner, whether true or not, is always a 'no-no'. Most outlets will err on being polite.
What is true is that an official from the PD Dept state that they desired to place a fresh face for the lead. It is true she completed the audition and reading stage successful, however, when it came to the actual filming it was off. There are several 'reasons' circulating, including the very rude version of it being about her 'poor acting'. The actress herself stated that she, herself was hesitant about it, but attempted to do her best with every intention of seeing it through. For PDs side, I think it maybe an issue with the Director or, truthfully, she did get in over her head that caused her to have difficulty in the actual conveyance of the character to the screen. Whatever the Director wanted from the character, she wasn't able to fulfill. Their view was that, when it came time to film, she just didn't "FIT" the character they wanted, and this is supposed to be a huge drama, so it needed to be addressed immediately before things went further.
Again, PD had every intention to use a "ROOKIE" actress but it didn't turn out as expected.
In this vein, PD has decided it will only offer the role to an "EXPERIENCED" actress. It is confirmed by Jung So Min herself that she has been offered the role, but her side has only stated, today, that she's favorably/positively reviewing the script. It's not assured she'll take the part.
Rest assured, the PD of a huge TvN drama isn't looking to be stuck without an actress going into filming. They've already released some hyped up dramas, some that have been received more favorably than others. They're obviously well aware of fighting for market share. Their current most popular dramas after 'Vincenzo'; 'Navillera'; & 'Mouse' finished are 'Mine'; 'My Roommate Is a Gumiho'; 'Doom at Your Service'; 'The Devil Judge'; & 'You Are My Spring'. They're currently on a roll and the shareholders of CJ E&M have certain expectations now. Simply giving a look to a fresh new face despite not having an actual good fit on screen isn't one of them. The intentions were there on both the actress & PD's part but they failed for whatever reasons. I believe, since the actress had already been in a NetFlix drama and did well, they had higher expectations for her than she could fill.
Sorry if this might sound rude to ur comment or whatever but by any chance have u watched a spanish series called…
I wrote what I did before I've even watched the scene because of these very comments. The idea that I have to accept the premise of a plot or I can't watch it is ludicrous. I suffer from DND syndrome, so it's often the case I finish dramas/movies that I could rate a 1.
It's like these people have never read a Roger or Ebert review and don't understand the concept. A critic can take the overall premise of the plot and say it explores toxic relationship tropes. The critic can also evaluate whether they handled that trope well.
As it stands, for me at episode 2, I'm curious why we're even ๐ฃ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ talking about this ๐จ๐ง๐ issue. This person has broken into the home, not once, but twice, which is illegal, as far as I know, and approached a person who was passed out on sleeping pills. The person is stalking someone, invading their privacy, and, the mere fact he held back doesn't discount, he broke in the home and got into another person's personal space without their consent. It starts off with a horribly ๐ญ๐จ๐ฑ๐ข๐ situation...and acting like that's normal behavior, it's no wonder that #MeToo exists. Anyone who saw this scene and thought, "... oh look... how cute..." has issues.
He also physically assaults a person he doesn't know over something he misconstrues and lord knows how far he would have taken it if someone else didn't come along and scare him off. Again, randomly assaulting someone in an alley is ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐ ๐๐ฅ, as far as I know. That's even more toxic behavior. So, when you put these initially things together with the issue of 'whether or not it's rape' really begs the question: How could you watch all these ๐จ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ซ ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐ ๐๐ฅ ๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ, and then come away with the idea that anything else he has done isn't just as questionable?
You really have to set your mind aside to believe there's anything appropriate in this guy's behavior, even at episode 2, without the sex.
Sorry if this might sound rude to ur comment or whatever but by any chance have u watched a spanish series called…
I don't need you to explain the motivation of characters in a drama that actors are portraying, either in Spain or Taiwan.
Sorry if this might sound rude but did you watch the video I posted in the link? That's real life. What you are describing is make-believe. It's a drama created in someone's mind and put on screen as a fantasy. It's not a documentary. Gaslighting is a thing. Date rape is a thing. Trying to excuse it or normalize it is your own issue. Of course, we all know there are rape victims, for reasons all their own, most not good reasons, they don't say a thing, or accept it, or go along with it... but trying to convince me that someone drunk can consent to sex isn't really a positive attitude to take. The video explains the reasons why, regardless of whether or not you think it's harmful.
"A lot of people are saying yes, when in fact, no," Fortier-Brown said. "Even though we're in a relationship, even though we've had consensual sex, even though we're both drunk, it does not matter. If one party is drunk or both parties are drunk, you cannot have consensual sex. And there is not implied consent in a relationship."
The idea of confirmed consent is very important: "Argentinian company Tulipรกn has created a "consent condom" that requires four hands to be opened, intending to raise awareness about consent in the bedroom. "If they don't say yes, it means no," the tagline on a video demonstration says. "Consent is the most important thing in sex." https://twitter.com/TulipanARG/status/1110978099368394752?s=20
I'm in the process of getting ready to watch this show and I see the 2 sides of the fence going at it here in the comments section. I haven't watched the scene in question, but I think what stunned me, reading some of the comments below, some which are pretty vehement about it as well, in this day and age, was the idea, anywhere in the world, that '...people get people drunk to have sex with them all the time...and that's not rape...' is really mindblowing.
People still grapple with the idea of consent. I know, in my country, if the person is physically, & mentally unable to give consent, either due to age, or capacity to do so, and you do something to them, it's considered rape. People act as if they've never heard the term "Date Rape" &/or that somehow doesn't apply to guys, because... well.... they're guys. But that still couldn't be further from the truth, since gender has no issue with ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐ฅ๐๐ฐ๐ฌ regarding this matter.
Now, I cannot speak to Taiwanese laws, but I'm definitely sure that the EU are similar in scope to the USA on this subject. Also, in the USA, filming someone, no matter what it is about, in certain states, ๐ซ๐๐ช๐ฎ๐ข๐ซ๐๐ฌ the person's permission. On yes, people do it anyway, but you can sue them for a whole lot of money for it. So, ๐ฒ๐๐ฌ, there are laws clear on this..and they're clear for a reason.
Heck, even after all of this, ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฅ๐ข๐๐ everywhere around the world realize there are dumbfucks who still don't get what ๐๐จ๐ง๐ฌ๐๐ง๐ญ means... So, back in 2015, the Thames Valley Police created a video ๐ฌ๐ฉ๐๐๐ข๐๐ข๐๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฒ designed to make it ๐๐ซ๐ฒ๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ฅ clear what consent is exactly.... and, yes, they talk about the "...they were once conscious and gave consent...but then became unconscious, thus, unable to give consent...and yes, you can change your mind in between the time it takes to consent and become unconscious..." so, ๐๐ฏ๐๐ง ๐ข๐, and that's a big if, based on what I've read, the person gave consent, if at the point things happened they were passed out or unconscious, they're no longer ๐๐๐ฉ๐๐๐ฅ๐ of giving you their consent... which means, they said, "๐ง๐จ".
Is this really set during the Three Kingdoms period? I think the names of the kingdoms were Pei and Yu, not Wei,…
It's supposed to be a lose interpretation wuxia that's set during that time period of 3 Kingdoms, i.e. AD220-280. It's just the 'historical time period'. Wuxia, as a genre, often equate to the English genre term 'historical fantasy', but nonetheless, regularly simply 'historical fiction'. It's not meant to be even a 'docu-drama' since wuxia is, itself, pure fiction. Regardless, they are usually based in either 'alternative history' or 'speculative history' at a minimum. Thus, take them with a grain of salt historically and enjoy the fantasy. ;)
Hmm... I think you're not in the medical field and either don't understand addiction vs dependence, as well as…
You're saying that opioid detox withdrawal last "2 weeks max", & acute withdrawal is rare & not as intense as Loony? REALLY? Bear in mind that Loony was taking DXM on a regular basis, or what is commonly known as Robotripping that puts you in a state of psychosis much like if you were taking PCP, until he went cold turkey in a prison cell without any tapering meds that would have been afforded to him if he was in a medical detox facility.
Listen to this FULL explanation of the detox process, and start @2:21 when they describe "week 2" of detoxing regarding the "symptoms dialed up in intensity", then "week 3"...
Then head to the ending, where he talks about the "aggressive tapering regiment" his doctors had him on over a 4 week period that sent him in to the tailspin, versus the CDC's recommendation of "10% reduction/wk" that would last push the process of weening off the drugs over 15 weeks total @13:20...
and then go back to my point, that Looney was Robotripping on the regular then quit cold turkey in a jail cell without any proper medical care, or tapering process whatsoever.
I understand people like to think that simply not have the drugs in their body, and with a few days rest and relaxation, they're cured, but that's not the reality with opioids... and tbh, the show had it more accurate than you people who use "medically detoxed" patients and their withdrawals as an example. This show was giving you a taste of prison life.
Wow. โCheerleaderโ? Take note. The fact this has already been okayed to be released means that the CCP is in support of this kind of sexism towards women.
Yeah, naw, the coincidence are real, not that relationship, if you look at it without Shipper eyes.
He didn't renew his contract with VAA, and his contract was up in Oct, 2019. He works under his family's agency, managed by his dad now. lol.
Nadine, had re-upped her contract in 2014 to 2024, then again in 2016, I think, to 2029. She's now suing VAA for 'predatory practices' to get out of her contract. She's stuck in a lawsuit with them.
But, it's no coincidence that the relationship was announced to be over after so many years, only months after he left VAA. ;)
You know what, even with Abe as a zombie, if an American writer wrote all the Founding Fathers as pieces of crap, and advanced British dialect, music, styles, and sensibilities in place of anything American, not just once, but twice, and tried to make it seem like everything that the USA is and has been was influenced 100% by Britain fullstop, and American citizens having little influence and import, I'd spit on the projects too. Zombies are one thing. 100% insulting the entire heritage of a nation, its traditions, music, for the sake of zombies is an entirely other thing. You don't need to promote another country as your own to get there, period.
Even Abe Lincoln and George Washington did not do half of what King Sejong the Great did for his nation and its citizens around 300 years before the Founding Fathers' time. He gave them their written language so even the poorest could be literate; traditional Korean medicine; gave people station and merit based solely on their talent and not their class; helped labor including through taxation by changing that based on your ability to pay and prosperity. Heck he was so forward thinking that in the 1400s he was already giving SLAVE class women MATURITY LEAVE as well as giving paternity leave.
NOW, have a drama, where the writer & production are influenced by Chinese investors, and then that drama makes out Korea as fully Chinese influenced, devoid of its own identity, where its citizens even speak in a Chinese dialect, and then make their beloved humanitarian king, who disregard class status in order to care for his own people, to be a person that thinks solely about class & status within his own family, while people speak banmal to him...and you'll understand that this isn't merely being pissed off about seeing Abe Lincoln as a zombie, which also got criticized for 'historical inaccuracies', but like depicting Abe as a racist hater out to get POC. I think a LOT of Americans would be pissed if someone attempted to CHANGE history to THAT extent...
SO... unless you really understand the FULL context, it's best to just stay out of it.
I'm the LAST person who believes in cancel culture, but in certain situation, where things are just really over-the-top, there's room for offense. There are examples out there, especially in religious circles, where certain things are just way too sacred to be spat on. This situation is no different. Koreans have a right to be pissed off...
AND it's obviously no coincidence that its the same writer embroiled in the controversies around Mr. Queen. It's also no coincidence the writer is of part Chinese ethnicity who signed a drama writing deal with Jaiping Pictures, a company that has indicated, during the 100th year anniversary of the CCP, along with the CCP's renewed push for propaganda + 'Wolf Warrior Diplomacy' of not allowing any criticism of the CCP & China whatsoever, to invest in 4-5 dramas in 2021 with OTHER FAMOUS Kroean drama writers in attempt to form "producing partnerships with Korean domestic boradcasters, large OTT & production companies". Let's be clear, the Chinese representatives are attached to the Chinese National Academy, majority are Chinese nationals, and their purpose and goal is to PROMOTE, via propaganda, CCP Chinese historical view, and influence, period.
Again, if you don't understand the historical importance amidst the backdrop of China's "Northeast Project" with the reinterpretation of Gojoseon, Goguryeo, and Balhae being historically Chinese NOT KOREAN, and laying claims on North Korea HISTORY, and the FACT that the very company THIS writer signed a contract with, Jaiping Pictures, is committed to promoting the ideas outlayed in China's "Northeast Project', you seriously don't understand the MULTINATIONAL and DIPLOMATIC problems involved in regards to this Chinese NATIONAL PROPAGANDA. This is what the CCP looks to with AVG citizens. That they are more interested in being entertained than the cultural ramifications AND THE INFLUENCE ON YOUTH that entails. You wonder why the CCP spends ALL its time CENSORING certain topics within their own country, NOT ALLOWING CRITICISM OF THEIR COUNTRY, all for the very reason, IT INFLUENCES YOUTH, and that you don't understand, in a CAPITALIST NATION why that matters. The Chinese get it. That's how the CCP can function while taking away its citizens freedoms.
If you further don't get where I'm going with this, then you need to add the backdrop of recent INTERNATIONAL discussions regarding the unification of North AND South Korea and juxtapose that with China's "Northeast Project" push to rewrite history, along with China's more recent attitude towards military action against Taiwan, as well as its deferment of governmental elections to the end of the year in Hong Kong. China believes that any current talks on this matter are similar to Silla and Tang Dynasty and that China is required to be a part of the talks, US troops must leave the regions, economic agreements including special RIGHTS for future investments in Korea be validated, and Chinese military allowed to be stationed and a part of the stabilization process. These are things that China has been pushing since 2017, and the instituting of Chinese academic nationals in the involvement of upcoming KOREAN dramas used for propaganda purposes are NOT going unnoticed by South Korean citizens. They're not interested in having their history distorted in a way that disavows its own culture so that the CCP can claim cultural dominance over the entire region for their own POLITICAL purposes, attempts at colonization, and imperialism while pretending others are the historical imperialists. That includes revising history to claim the attempts of nuclear expansion in the region is a direct reaction to aggression by the USA, when the USA/Korea have been involved in military maneuvers predate any NK nukes by a decade. In the entire history of the DMZ there has and certainly won't be any aggressive invasive move on the part of the USA or Korea. The ones lobbing bombs over civilians heads are not them. But, by China parring things down in these terms of "US aggression", it can pretend that it is the ONLY reasonable party in the mix, and the 'international peace keeper' while bolstering its influence over the entire Korean peninsula, making it truly the only real winner in any solutions.
Let's not for a second believe that Koreans are so far removed from their own historical cultural awareness of what it was like to pay alms to China for its existence as a "tributary state" and the fact the China is using academia to reinvigorate the Tang Dynasty's "ethnic and cultural" importance in Korea, its claims that its part of Chinese history, NOT KOREA'S HISTORY, and that Koreans believe it's anything BUT utter nonsense.
Watch his 1st drama where he was the lead, Maiden Holmes, then say that. lol.
Okay then, I get it.
Well, but for a new actor who first started acting in May, 2019, and who already received a new actor award this past January 2021, as well as filming his 5th drama, as a supporting actor in a highly anticipated novel adaptation drama, I think that the Chinese entertainment industry thinks heโs a good actor. Itโs actually quite impressive to be so new, and have 3 of your 5 dramas already released within only 1 year and a half, considering how long it takes for dramas to release.
Anyway, you complained about the kiss scenes, then said he needed to improve so I thought you meant he doesnโt know how to โkissโ act which, if you watched โMaiden Holmesโ youโd know very well thatโs not true. And as far as that drama is considered, as his first drama, his acting was extremely good. Have to take into account that the actor is quite smart, in that he got scouted at his university where he was majoring in electrical engineering and a member of the Aerospace Agency around 2016. It wasnโt something that he planned on doing until 3 years before. his first drama that ended up being a starring role with an older more experienced actress as his co-star.
No, hate.... I see you have your definition of new and inexperienced. I just look at the overall quality, comparative to whatโs already out there. For me, his just as good now than some of the current *hot* young top Chinese actors. ;)
Tbh I'm a little bit disappointed that Zhang Ling He is not the main character nevertheless I guess young adult…
This is an IDOL drama. The fact that he got cast in a lead role at all is a big accomplishment, since he is also a new actor who got his 1st drama only in 2019, and debuted the end of 2020. He's already got 5 dramas under his belt, with 3 of them already aired, including this one, which is HUGE in the world of C-dramas that take forever to release from announced production, & completed filming/editing.
The male lead for this drama, He Luo Luo, came in 2nd for 'Produce Camp 2019' and was a guest member for 'Produce Camp 2020' and a member of the idol group R1SE. Since this is an 'idol drama', it's meant to feature and debut him as an actor for the future. His success does somewhat get based on how well this drama is received. This is his 1st lead role. Tbh, he's lucky he has such a NEWLY popular actor playing lead along side him, since, I suspect, not just his own fan base, but Zhang Ling He's fanbase is coming to watch giving him even more exposure. If he can keep up with Ling He's acting skills, it will be to his benefit.
On another note, Zhang Ling He doesn't need anyone's help. He's already becoming extremely successful, and has already won an acting newcomer award in January, 2021. His 1st drama was released in August, 2020... so, that's a pretty huge achievement.
I get that there will always be a variety of views and perspectives but some just really seem to defy logical reasoning.

Watch for yourselves if you're still confused about it:

But, it's no coincidence that the relationship was announced to be over after so many years, only months after he left VAA. ;)
For me, his just as good now than some of the current *hot* young top Chinese actors. ;)
The average wait for the DVD is 6 months. Depending on the popularity of the work, a subber will get provided the subs around that time.
