It was Ji Woo's friend and employer, Kim Hyung Ki, that was going to get Seo Joon in trouble. The reason Kim Hyung Ki was going to give up the pic to the Dispatch people was for money to cover his dad's debt and keep the restaurant afloat.
Firstly, Ji Woo left so that they wouldn't ever be caught together again, to further fuel the papz idea that he's in a relationship with Seo Joon. He didn't want to be thrown in with this kind of rumor/publicity.
He also asked Kim Pil Hyun to give him his deposit key money on the apartment.
Secondly, the next morning Ji Woo goes to Kim Hyung Ki's house to see that it's been locked off by the debt collectors. So, he calls him to come out. He offers to initially pay him $20k, likely the key money from the apartment, to cover and pay for any of Kim Hyung Ki's emergency debts. Ji Wo did that to protect Seo Joon from be extorted money by his friend and to help his friend out so he doesn't do anything rash.
Lastly, Ji Woo didn't want Seo Joon to find out about the situation at all. Unfortunately, the Dispatch girl already told him that Ji Woo's friend had pictures of him and Ji Woo together.

The 1S was mainly about Gao Shi De & Zhou Shu Yi.
The 2S will be about 3 couples; Gao Shi De-Zhou Shu Yi still as main OTP; Pei Shou Yi-Yu Zhen Xuan, & Bing Wei-Shi Zhe Yu. It's essentially shown in the difference between the primary posters for either season. S2, doesn't just have the OTP on the cover. As well, the posted bts pics from S2 are essentially all of Pei Shou Yi & Yu Zhen Xuan, suggesting that they will be the focus a bit more in S2. Of course, I or anyone else except those involved with Result Entertainment are the only ones who really know what the percentage are for each couple, but since the story is about our OTP, I believe they'd still be the main focus.

I think you're confused. I never suggested that they've been in contact over the 5 years. It's clear from the text & what Shide says that they haven't had contact with each other in 5 years.

So, clearly, whether they've been in contact or not, it's been 5 years from the date they graduated, which was when Shide left for the USA.
What I'm saying is, we don't know what the reason for the separation was for, 5 years ago. We have no idea what split them up. Go back to episode 1 @1:30 and listen to what Shuyi says. Does he say he needs to win his senior year swim meet competition or his freshman year? Then ask yourselves, “...for a guy who ranks #1 in everything, especially academically, would it take him 4 years to transfer and would he wait 4 years to be with Shuyi at the same school?...”
Remember that winning this swim meet was going to be Shuyi’s catalyst to tell Yu Xin he likes her, but Shide arrives, and she confesses to Zheng Wen. He throws himself in the pool, and Shide goes in after him. Since it is Shide saying how many days, we take it from his perspective not Shuyi’s. When Shuyi asked Shide, “..is this your first kiss?..” What is Shide’s reply? Does Shide think the bridge kiss is his first kiss or his second? Your answer lies in Shide’s perspective. They are 22 when they are actually together, since their age is given in the Chinese wikipedia page for this drama under both Shide & Shuyi’s character bio.
Last point: If Shide has a mental deficiency why would it be 8.75 years and not 27 years if he doesn’t even remember Shuyi exists? 8.75 years from what then???? If you want to think this way, you have to be able to answer that question accurately.

This was two grown men being mature, and when their differing personalities irritated each other, they mutually expressed their thoughts & feelings in their own unique way. Even an introvert who doesn't overly emote or talk, Ji Woo, found the words to convey, in a mature way, what was on his own mind. Better yet was the playful, forward, extrovert, Seo Joon, who became so connected to Ji Woo that he was able to read between the lines of anything Ji Woo said.
Consent is just a small fraction of the necessary premise of being "mature", it should not even have to be a discussion in this context. Everything about this plot was based in a developing relationship and how it would play out over time to either acquaintances, friends, or otherwise, and we were merely flies on the wall watching that process. I loved everything about this fact. This maturity went all the way down to the final scene where the underlying premise was: ..I care for you so much, I want to take care of you. Shall you let me do that? ...No, I can take care of myself. I just want to be your equal.. Heck, this was more mature and sophisticated, in terms of plot, than many hetero K-drama rom-coms. Impressive!!

Remember that winning this swim meet was going to be Shuyi’s catalyst to tell Yu Xin he likes her, but Shide arrives, and she confesses to Zheng Wen. He throws himself in the pool, and Shide goes in after him. Since it is Shide saying how many days, we take it from his perspective not Shuyi’s. When Shuyi asked Shide, “..is this your first kiss?..” What is Shide’s reply? Does Shide think the bridge kiss is his first kiss or his second? Your answer lies in Shide’s perspective. They are 22 when they are actually together, since their age is given in the Chinese wikipedia page for this drama under both Shide & Shuyi’s character bio.
Last point: If Shide has a mental deficiency why would it be 8.75 years and not 27 years if he doesn’t even remember Shuyi exists? 8.75 years from what then???? If you want to think this way, you have to be able to answer that question accurately.
1) "Earth has rotated 1826 times around its axis."
*1 rotation = 24 hours.
*1826 days / 365 days = 5 years
2) "Earth has rotated around the sun 5 times."
*1 rotation = 1 year.
*5 rotations = 5 years.
So, now is the confusion about Zhou Shuyi’s background.
Specific descriptions of each character in their *present* state as of episode 1 are given per online drama data page.
Shuyi’s status:
1) Mixed race. Dad is Japanese. Dad romances mom in Taiwan. Mom is Taiwanese.
2) Shuyi is born in Japan, where he attends Kindergarten to 4th grade and ranks #1. He speaks fluent Japanese because of this. His mom passes away when he’s going into 5th grade.
3) Shuyi moves to Taiwan to attend school where he meets Gao Shide in 5th grade. From 5th grade to end of high school he will rank #2 under Shide.
4) Per Taiwan primary & secondary education:
Elementary 5th grade to high school 12th grade is 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th= 8 yrs
5) Shuyi attends college to get away from Shide and constantly ranking #2. Shide transfer to Shuyi’s college part way through the school year = 0.75yrs
What Gao Shide says in the dialogue:
“After we’ve been separated for 76,692 hours….” Text on screen says, “FIVE YEARS LATER”
*76692 hrs / 24 hrs = 3195.5 days
*3195.5 days / 365 days = 8.75 years
Thus, after the 8.75 years when Gao Shide & Zhou Shuyi weren’t together *as a couple*, they became a couple. Now it is 5 years since they've seen each other *after* they were a couple.
No mental issue. Only issue is that they haven’t seen each other, for whatever reason, for 5 years.

This wasn't high school, but two grown men, each with their own life experiences that shaped their current personalities.
This was two grown men being mature, and when their differing personalities irritated each other, they mutually expressed their thoughts & feelings in their own unique way. Even an introvert who doesn't overly emote or talk, Ji Woo, found the words to convey, in a mature way, what was on his own mind. Better yet was the playful, forward, extrovert, Seo Joon, who became so connected to Ji Woo that he was able to read between the lines of anything Ji Woo said.
Consent is just a small fraction of the necessary premise of being "mature", it should not even have to be a discussion in this context. Everything about this plot was based in a developing relationship and how it would play out over time to either acquaintances, friends, or otherwise, and we were merely flies on the wall watching that process. I loved everything about this fact. This maturity went all the way down to the final scene where the underlying premise was: ..I care for you so much, I want to take care of you. Shall you let me do that? ...No, I can take care of myself. I just want to be your equal.. Heck, this was more mature and sophisticated, in terms of plot, than many hetero K-drama rom-coms. Impressive!!
