The sad truth is Lu Yingying is a much nicer person. But thanks to Fu Rou and Chu Mo's meddling, the crown princess…
Also it would also seem that Fu Rou's action indirectly caused the death of consort Han. She saved the crown princess, who in turn had the opportunity to slander consort Han and uses a Taoist to frame her. Fu Rou should have let the crown princess die.
(This part I am not sure of, since I havent watched this part) And Fu Rou had two elixirs? That could have saved consort Han, but she uses the elixir to save Prince Liang, and the other one was taken by Prince Liang and wasted away.
Sigh sometimes Fu Rou's benevolence is also an act of stupidity.
Sigh!! The crown princess never learns does she? After being chastened and punished so many times, irresponsible words still flaps out of her mouth. My poor Consort Han (,╯︵╰,) I hate you crown princess!! I normally wouldnt wish any one to suffer captial punishment but she deserves a death by a thousand cuts!! Wouldnt surprise me if her sister's death (potential death) was also caused by her.
This is just a drama, which by no means truly represent actual history, so it depends on how the executive producer,…
Agreed. There are better ways to portray this drama for keeping the two main leads apart. Take Joy of Life for example. The focus is mainly on Fan Xian and Wan Er is hardly around him, yet the story is well executed with plots and intrigues that keeps people interested. There are dark moments of death and torture yet again they are done to build the main character up again Wan Er is not always around but she provides support and there isnt a need to use the "misunderstanding" plot device. I am aware it is a totally different type of drama, yet didnt we all start to watch Court Lady when it was funny and plot driven? Then all of a sudden that all changed to a history lesson about the Tang Dynasty, court intrigues and the usual romantic misunderstanding. More screentime of the main leads even if they arent together, and less of the palace family might work better, since they are the main leads. Yes certain people are shipping other couples, that doesnt need to be taken away from the drama, Just #MoreScreentime4ChuMu #LessHistoryLesson

I am at the middle of the first chapter, so far the drama follows the novel, it is pretty close considering other adaptation kind of butchers the source material, cough cough Douluo Continent. Then again the screenwriter is also the author so I shouldnt be surprised.
From other sources I have been reading, there are only 3 happy couples the rest are broken ones. ChuMu/FuRou, ChuLing/XinNan and the surprising couple - Lu Qi and Fu Yin.

Some people tell their stories really well, some dont and this happens to be one that doesnt, I dont think it is due to your expectation, it is more of this drama isnt well written
Please tell me why every higher up ( Queen, Concubines, King's sons, etc) are so nice and helpful. I'm not very…
This is just a drama, which by no means truly represent actual history, so it depends on how the executive producer, director and screenwriter wants to tell their story, it is just a story. What you see is probably the surface. I am not sure which episodes you are up to but:
The crown princess tries to have Chen Ji killed when she purposely tries to have Chen Ji injure himself while performing, that is evil and not nice. The crown princess then tries to implicate Prince Han in an assassination plot, again not nice. The Lu family burns the Fu mansion down causing Fu Yin's mother to die, again that is evil. Prince Zhou uses his position to force Fu Rou to marry him, again not nice. Prince Liang a Lecherous person attempts to have Princess XinNan's handmaid and Fu Rou later on.
Evil is subjective I guess, so your interpretation of evil might be different to mine since the example I listed I would classify them as evil or at the very least, bad.

A lot of people had high expectations as well, it started well, had a solid cast, the drama was screenwritten by the author of the novel who also wrote The General and I, but then, I dont know, it is as if Yu Zheng, the executive produce remade the Legend of Hao Lan into this. Yanxi palace was way better.
-How is the plot/writing/story of this drama? I tried ep 1 and was quite good. -Is the romance good or are the…
- Story - Good at the beginning, then turns dark and unpredictable around the 16th episode - Romance - Depends. Main characters romance are pretty much non existent, unless they are together which is rare and few, the secondary characters has more romance time than the main leads. - Side stories - too many and some of them are convulsed while others are building up for the main arcs, a couple of plot twists that will make your jaws drop but not really engaging enough to justify having 55 episodes, just too draggy,
I stopped watching at episode 30, will wait until the drama ends then will continue on, I usually skip scenes and fast forward to to scenes I like, after watching them I will return back and rewatch the entire drama without skipping. Personally I think the Long Ballad has a better and stronger story than this one, this one feels like the screenwriter/author started with a romance comedy set during the Tang Dynasty then decided to change the direction and gave us an adaptation of the history of the early Tang Dynasty with a sole main lead - the female one, the screentime of the main lead is equal to a secondary one, if not much less.
They see each other later on from time to time, it is only late 20s that they spend significant time together…
I have been reading up on what is going to happen, sadly there isnt enough, just dribs and drabs here and there, if only it was like the beginning, but nope, too many mini plots to draw out the series to 55 episodes, the screenwriter/author's work in the General and I wasnt even like this convulted, I wonder if Yu Zheng put his dirty hands into it and made a mess of it, I might go and read the webnovel to compare.
He would be perfect for a drama adaptation of The Scumbag system then (。✿‿✿。) It is based on a webnovel by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu who also wrote the webnovel that eventually became the drama adaptation called The Untamed
(This part I am not sure of, since I havent watched this part)
