I felt sorry for him at the beginning, since he was being oppressed by the crown prince and his tutor told him to lay low, dont make yourself a target then all of a sudden instead of doing that he went out his way to outshine the crown prince with his memorial submission, I am like okaaaaaaaay.

Yes, the crown prince's attraction for men is one of the reasons that caused his downfall and given Li Tai (Prince Han in the drama) was competing against the crown prince for his position, it wouldnt surprise me if Chen Ji was also used by Prince Han, but that seem unlikely since the relationship between the two brothers were pretty strong at the beginning of the series. A double agent being used by the two princes!! Wow that would be mind boggling.

If you are hoping that they spend a lot of time together, then you are in for a huge disappointment. They see each other sporadically throughout the series, but during episodes 29 - 30 they spend a significant time together (they elope) but then Fu Rou returns to the palace due to someone meddling, and after that it is all back to sporadic time together. They marry at the end of the drama.

I mean everything Prince Zhou does has a reason, we get told in fact. For example when the crown princess tried to appeal to the empress as to why Prince Zhou shouldnt marry Fu Rou given her connections with the imperial servants. Not to mention a certain big plot twist in regards to Chen Ji/Fu Shui

Well the feelings the crown prince had for Chen Ji was genuine, whether or not Chen Ji felt the same is another (given a certain spoiler plottwist)

I stopped at episode 30, I will wait until the series ends then I will continue ^_^ the plot twists is going to make it interesting.

You are not the only one who finds her with Prince Zhou irritating, there is probably a #justice4ChuMu and #getalifeprincezhou on twitter. You have 44 episodes to wade through all the mess, misunderstanding, being apart, weird plotlines, very very dark stories, lot's of palace intrigues just to see 10 seconds of them together every episode or two (with the exception of a couple of episodes mid 20)
So my suggestion is to take a deep breath, and try and make yourself believe that this is a drama about the Tang dynasty, nothing about romance between the main leads, just the imperial family and it's count intrigues. Any romances you see are bonuses, any death you see are normal. Otherwise you will drop this drama ^_^

They see each other later on from time to time, it is only late 20s that they spend significant time together BUT you will see less of them together and more of Prince Zhou and her together which is probably throughout the entire drama. In many ways Fu Rou is the only main lead in the drama, ChuMu is a secondary character since his screentime is less than most of the secondary leads. We will probably find out when they broadcast the episodes. The source are here if you can read Chinese, but with the way the story is being written I am not surprised at the plot holes of the drama.

Yes, from spoilers Fu Shui is Chen Ji, also Prince Zhou's chess piece. As Chen Ji, he was to approach the crown prince in order to destroy his prince’s reputation and attempt to demote him. As Fu Shui, he works for Prince Zhou again.
