I think this drama is 24 episodes now after reading Korean netizen's comments... They're all saying 24 episodes... Anyhow...wow episode 7 and 8 are intense! I do believe because there are 24 episodes in store that the writers are setting up the story and it will get better. I was the same as you in the beginning since I wanted to watch this for Park Bo Gum but the first episode felt too long for me. I just wasnt used to the format at first so i decided to watch R1997. And now i can see why so many people love this series. I'm now loving 1988 a lot now after reply 1997. So i high recommend start with 1997 so you'll get used to the format. Plus 1997 was really good actually and episode lengths are much shorter (30-40mins each). I skipped 1994 though since ut didnt hook me as much as 1997 did...and 1988 outshined 1997 in my opinion. So go watch 1997 then this, THEN you'll be like me and understand why so many people loved this :D
It made me laugh, cry, and smile. One of the best dramas about family for me. Dont be put off with the number of episodes because it is so worth it. 53 episodes (they're only 1 hour long each) will fly by really fast since the pace isn't slow at all. The kids and their father touched me so much at the end! It balances everything well and romance isnt a focus either just like 1988 (but it does have enough romance to satisfy you). It teaches you to value your family and lots life lessons to take away. That drama made me realised how much I miss and love my family :) so if you're loving 1988 then What Happens to My Family is a great one to watch!!
You should definitely give it a try (if you're unsure just read the reviews). Its worth it in my opinion. ^^

I find him so attractive the first time I saw him in Hello Monster/IRY. Now after watching a bunch of YouTube videos of him singing, dancing, MC-ing, playing piano and even his Reply 1988 drama...I'm swooning!! ❤ I can't believe I'm 1 year older than him! This the first time I've ever swoon over a celebrity younger than me. Bo Gum-ah, Hwaiting! I look forward to your future roles in 2016. Please I hope you find yourself more successful and in lead roles next year!

I read it on dramabeans. Yep i think his memory will deteriorate later on...remember this is a 24 episode drama so they haven't reached that point yet but I believe he will start to lose his memories later on and this is where PMY will play a bigger role.
Because of Taekie (reply 1988) I wanna marathon this drama again. The wait for 1988's episodes is just too long for me!! I'm missing Bogummy on screen :P

I agree! I was loving this drama until that ending!!!! There was no cliché stuff, that was the reason why I love this drama...it was refreshing. BUT if they pulled the amnesia trope, I'm gonna drop it for now until this drama finishes airing and just wait for people's comments to see if it's worth continuing to watch. Don't want to waste my time when I could be watching better dramas like Remember.
