since TMOPB i don't think i have hated any 2FL that much in my life. Too much screen time dedicated for such vile, hateful, and infuriating character. She drains the life out of me.
ok after ep24 ML has turned 180 degree around. Their romance is full of sweets with lots of kisses (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ.…
Definitely. But be patient while waiting for the romance to bloom, because it's quite slow-burning. Once it does their chemistry is off the chart, as ML automatically gravitates towards FL whenever they're in the same room. The plot is solid, realistically portraying the life of editors and authors, with well-crafted, multifaceted, and down-to-earth characters, and no one acting uncharacteristically nor out of sync with their motives. No rage-inducing third party trying to sabotage the leads' relationship. No noble idiocy and stupid misunderstandings/breakup. No toxic masculinity nor any damsel in distress. More importantly, I was afraid i would suffer from secondhand embarrassment, but turns out this is far from the case.
Overall this is a feel-good and empowering drama, thanks a lot to FL. I adore her outstanding competence, her unwavering perseverance and commitment to her career, her unyielding attitude while she protects who she cares for and what she believes in. Not to mention her upbeat personality, her perceptiveness, her quick wit and savage tongue, and her superb decision-making and problem-solving skill. ML, who has both flaws and merits, grew on me big time later thanks to his character development in the latter half of the drama, which took place naturally and characteristically. My previous negative impression about him witnessed a major change as he becomes a lot more mature, driven, responsible, and affectionate.
this is PG15 at most. Don't look at the rating and expect there's any overly steamy or revealing scenes. It feels like 2ML has more kiss scenes than ML lol.
What i like most is its realistic portrayal of human nature and relationships. Not all romance will come to a happy ending. Not all love is like eternal love. I also love the character development here, especially FL. I didn't like ML initially, because he gives off the selfish home-wrecker vibe. but he improved towards the end. Overall a decent watch if you're looking for solid plot for mature audience that realistically depicts life.
On ep10. FL and Nong Ying are the reasons i haven't dropped this. Not a single male character here appeal to me. ML lacks a spine for deciding to forgive those who tried to kill FL without much objection. His vessels, Sun Mo and lord Zhu, are incredibly annoying. I really can't stand their high-road attitudes when they tried to kill the innocent in the name of eliminating potential enemies. -- on ep12 and I really can't understand the writer when s/he wrote ML's character, who lacks a lot in competence, and whose helplessness just irks me. -- on ep13 and facepalm at ML using a knife swinging at the chain to break it with one hand lol. that's not how it works. -- ep14 and dropped.
I really can't stand Qian Cheng's childishness and selfishness under the guise of doing for ML's sake. I really don't get his relentless and unreasonable animosity towards FL. He's such a saboteur that makes me enjoy the drama significantly less. After all the hoax he did to sabotage their relationship, he simply absolved himself by saying "No matter whom he ends up choosing, I'll back him up." Lmao, how hypocritical (¬_¬). Dude you just caused their breakup. I really hate it when the writers of Chinese dramas cook up rage-inducing cannon fodders doing outrageous things, after which they would backtrack and get a pat on the back as if nothing bad had happened.
I watched this on fastforward to look for the heart-wrenching angst at the end, where ML would have to face FL's death eventually. But nope, the entire drama built up to nothing! Just a bunch of filler as FL likes to stick her nose into everything. Leads have really weak chemistry. By the end the drama is filled with all sorts of bizarre stuff with no explanation. Such a waste of time.
Absurd plot written by a teenager with illogical events that went unexplained. Over-the-top acting and too many cringey & clichéd moments >"<. Tacky dialogues that feel scripted. Weak chemistry that makes main leads look like siblings together. Poorly written, one-dimensional characters with noble idiocy trope. 2FL is the typical crazy obsessed superficial girl who acts as the cannon fodder for FL's jealousy. FL is a self-victimized girl with a tendency to pull the breakup card and drown in her own sorrows/mope around by herself in the name of sacrificing for the sake of ML. ML is a groveler who is always the one to apologize first and make amends. This coupled with his wooden acting make the buildup to their romance as well as their kiss scenes appear very forced and unconvincing. Felt like a chore to watch. I'm not against clichés when they're done right, but this is not the case. Not recommended.
It's a cute youth drama with nice cinematography, but the plot lacks tension and the romance lacks a bit of passion. I lost interest after the leads got together (ep20). The pacing is a bit off for me, going too fast at some points and too slow at others. Some scenes felt incomplete and glossed over, since they didn't show the reactions of the characters after certain events took place, leaving me wondering how the characters feel. I could only surmise them being anxious, melancholic, doubtful, or glad and triumphant. They should've underscored those emotions instead of skipping them.
On the other hand, characters here are well-crafted. Their chemistry clicks because of the decent acting. I'm surprised ML is only 21 y.o but he can emote and portray his character very naturally, with subtle & layered nuances and in a non-melodramatic manner, which allows me to feel his warmth towards FL despite his cold facade, instead of making me feel frustrated. Other actors might not be able pull this off and come off as annoying, obnoxious, and unrelatable.
cute, fluffy, non-cringey, and tenderly sweet. I love both mains here. FL is no damsel in distress but a bright, witty, and independent girl with a passion for detective works; while ML is an introverted genius turning into an affectionate boyfriend with superb husband material after falling in love with FL. His gaze conveys a lot of affection and adoration towards her. Their romance is pure and full of swoon-worthy moments with no secondhand embarrassment. Just what i need. Glad i found this.
I enjoyed this season a lot more than the sequel, mainly because of JSM. For me those are 2 separate dramas, since GYJ couldn't pull off that strong and independent vibe of Mudeok, who is super quick-witted and resourceful with a sharp tongue and an indomitable spirit, never submitting nor relying on anyone to rescue her but herself. Instead she turned into a complete mellow and lovelorn character who grovels for love and is resigned to fate, waiting to be saved by someone. That FL from season 1 is completely ruined in season 2. It's not just her memory being erased, it's her character too (;一_一).
ML is a two-timer who goes back and forth between FL and 2FL. When 2FL is away he fell for FL, and when FL walked away he went back with 2FL. When he met FL again 2 years later 2FL was his gf, yet he still made a move on FL despite knowing she had a bf already (¬_¬). He's worse than the ML in the Chinese remake.

ok after ep24 ML has turned 180 degree around. Their romance is full of sweets with lots of kisses (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ. I love FL here a lot. She's independent, persistent, and quick-witted. She fights and stands up for herself and others, and wouldn't let those she cares about suffer any grievances if she could help it.

first kiss on ep19. -- it gets better on ep20 with the non-verbal confession (semi-confession). -- ML's identity got exposed on ep23, after which FL left. I still think she forgives too easily. And ML has the avoidant tendency to find faults and shift the blame onto the one he's supposed to apologize so that he could feel less guilty. This negatively impact my impression of him. -- ML's character growth (or him stop being an arrogant tsundere who's ignorant of his fault) is on ep24 when they reconcile.

on ep17. If you expect an intense romance where the leads are heads over heels to each other, this is not it. Plus it feels like ML is a pubescent child in perpetual denial, who would rather lie to cover up his previous lies than be honest. Don't expect him to proactively (much less relentlessly) chase her, because for half the show he would pretend like he didn't care, act unbothered and unwilling, and find circumventing/indirect ways to make her come to him first. He wouldn't typically show any emotional expression that indicates he's in love with her either, except the few special times they accidentally had skinship. Every time I thought they have a tiny bit of sparks, he threw a wet blanket on it with his typical 'i'll reject first then reluctantly accept because i want her to cave in first and coax me'. *sigh*
Also, irl if i found out my confidante adopts 2 identities without me knowing to fool me i'd feel really pissed and betrayed.
I'm on ep10 and tbh, although the leads characters are nice, they barely have any chemistry. They look like 2 colleagues or 2 platonic friends instead of a couple, cuz i can't see the pull between them. Maybe because I'm not sold on ML's acting. His gaze doesn't convey affection towards FL. He always looks indifferent/nonchalant and denies and says the opposite of what he thinks or means, which makes him seem so reluctant. This coupled with his lack of microexpressions unfortunately make me unconvinced in their lukewarm romance.
food porn drama with sweet and fluffy romance that gives ya diabetes. But the thing with the brother is totally stupid and uncalled for. Such a rage-inducing character. Skip him if you can.
thanks for the spoiler. I almost dropped at ep 10 because ML kept rejecting her in the name of protecting her. He keeps doing that again and again, despite going through many things with her. Up to ep 10 she always has had to take the initiative to make amends and to confess to him. He just gave her the cold shoulder and watch her being heartbroken. Such noble idiocy *facepalm*. This is the reason why i dropped. I'll give it another try then.
Gosh FL is such a despo throughout the entire show. She gave me so much secondhand embarrassment. After enduring and fast-forwarding through 25 eps, i really dgaf about the ending anymore. Should've dropped sooner.
