At the beginning i thought it went too fast. But then now i'm on ep 10 and i jumped to the last ep to see the ending, because it's too slow. The chemistry between the leads is quite lacking. The first few eps was good though, since it's filled with comedy. After that it stagnates and became boring.
shallow romance with very steamy kisses. I don't like both leads, cuz FL is presumptuous/assuming while ML is capricious/fickle in their romantic pursuits. Watch for the kissing scenes.
Same here. But in modern day I feel pity for him. Every action he makes just making him more and more pathethic.…
It's a gray matter imo. The important thing is that she agreed to stay when she's free to leave. It may last or it may not, and she may leave to pursue her happiness later on, but i appreciate her accompanying him when he's most vulnerable. I pray that Gao repents and transforms into a better version of himself to deserve all her care, and becomes the happiness she seeks.
Btw, I wonder the same for the main couple tho, whether ML loves FL because of his appreciation for her sacrifice and persistence, or that he truly loves her. I mean, he first showed his interest towards her when he found her sleeping at the door. He made up with her only after she sacrificed herself posting that clip, damaging her own reputation. Also, she's always the one who has to cave in/ compromise for him and proactively make amends whenever they fight, regardless of whether it's her fault or not, or whether she got hurt deeply because of him without any apology from him or not. She's the only one who can stand his flaws and embrace him unconditionally. He didn't do much for her imo, aside from traumatizing her with his nonexistent communication skill. I find her masochistic ability to forgive and understand while enduring all the pain and humiliation he threw at her unreal lol. She's practically a saint. But with all that rant, they stick with each other in the end, which is all that matters.
Gao is my absolute favorite character in the entire show. His story resonates with me the most. He embodied the best antagonist in the most convincing fashion with profound emotional depth, whether it's inferiority, resentment, obsession, guilt, or rage. Those emotions are layered on top of his desire for reclaiming his dignity that he had to suppress because of ML, who heartlessly and unhesitantly trampled upon it time and time again without a hint of consideration for Gao's feelings, much less guilt or remorse. I can see why he holds such deep-rooted grudge. Regardless, he secretly yearns for validation from ML, which is the root cause for his fixation on upstaging and one-upping his frenemy.
Anyhow, it's very gratifying to see his vengeance on ML (ep23) (tbh the only one who can stand ML's arrogance and cold-bloodedness is FL). Every line he drops packs a punch, especially when coupled with his dark and ominous micro-expressions. I feel vindicated. Superb acting!
both protagonists and antagonists here are full of deceit. It's really hard to watch Xu Nian deceiving Qian Ya without remorse, as well as ML spying on FL.
I noticed the same contrast with Naksu. It just made GYJ not believeable as the real Naksu even when she starts…
yeah. I miss the hilarious, quick-witted, yet villainous, merciless, and badass Mudeok of an indomitable spirit, high sense of dignity, and relentless will to survive against all odds, instead of a timid, fearful Buyeon who's resigned to her fate. Mudeok would endure all kinds of hardships, be it loneliness or physical torment, cause she's self-reliant since childhood, and would never do things beneath her dignity, such as vying for someone's attention. Mudeok would do things on her own and is very quick on her feet to come up with a solution when she's put on a tight spot, whereas Buyeon is jumpy (she would hide at the sight of her mom's guards), uncreative (squeaking at the sight of bees as an excuse), and would lower herself to vie for her just-met husband's attention. Even with her memories back, she still doesn't have that proud, strong, and independent vibe that Mudeok has. Tbh i'm very disappointed with how her character changed in a very uncharacteristic fashion post-amnesia. I'll chalk this up to inconsistent writing and GYJ's acting.
After binging all 10 eps in 2 days i came to the conclusion that the amnesia plot is totally unnecessary (-_-), which makes their chemistry fall short and i find it really hard to connect to FL's character. They dragged it out tooo longgg, and could've condensed this season into 3-5 eps instead of 10. Instead of enjoying it like the first season, i was feeling bored and hoping it to be over. Further, i just can't connect to GYJ's character, since it's too different from the image JSM built in the previous season. She's no longer the sassy, savage, unyielding FL who refuses to be a victim and is set on being the decision-maker of her fate, but the mellow, lovelorn, and sulky one who was waiting for someone to save her, as if she changed/lost her personality completely. Also, she doesn't have that proud and domineering countenance, the commanding and sometimes playful tone, nor the killer/deadly eyes like JSM. It's really hard for me to convince myself that the two of them are the same person. Plus we never get to see FL doing any fight scene in this season (;一_一). Finally, I prefer Jang Uk's immense power being acquired through his own effort like season 1, rather than being bestowed upon him by a stone. It took the thrill out of everything.
i mean, why would she have the mudeok vibe if she’s never pretended to be her? mudeok was a persona naksu created…
true. but i still think something is missing. idk, their vibes are just different. JSM gave me that feeling of excitement and empowerment for being a proud maverick whose head is always up high no matter what life throws at her, and i'm always looking forward to her scenes, while the mellow and lovelorn image that GYJ portrays just doesn't match FL's previous self. I find myself waiting for her scenes to be over. I'm only currently on ep5 tho.
But if you disagree, that's totally fine and I'm glad you enjoyed it.
