I don't understand what went wrong with this one. The 1st half was great and cute and had all the mafia/romance/crime/action that I was looking for. But somewhere along the way the plot started to feel disjointed. Like I was missing an important scene that would better explain the characters' actions. Like, I never understood if Mike He's character was supposed to be in love with Tang Yin or was it more of an intense need to protect someone so innocent....??Never really delved into his character so I could be more invested in his ending outside of how it related to Tang Yin and Jian Zi. Which is stupid since the major twist at the end is that he's a bad guy (i guess?) And after not a lot of build up and a major reveal He and Jian ZI just part ways amicably with a "so long safe journey:?!?!?! And that unnecessary open ending...I just can't. I would've been much happier if the drama had ended when the Lady Boss died. :-/
Even though I shipped Fashai with Daniel in the beginning I actually ended up wanting her to be with Chen Min. I was so excited to be on the right ship from the start and then they developed Chen Min's character a LOT more than Daniel's IMHO. I felt a cuter chemistry between the 2 in their scenes near the end and swooned every time. Second lead couple was great & I'm a little salty that not only did they kill Khun Jo, but there were only 3 people at his funeral! Not right dude! Overall, it's an ok drama, but seriously Fashai got kidnapped every other episode! That got old real quick -_-
This was a cute Lakorn. It didn't really get as crazy as it could have until the last 4 episodes (I mean, as far as Lakorns go, even its craziest moments weren't as bad as most). Its full of comedy to lighten things up, even though that comedy can get annoying and make going from one scene to the next seem odd. But for an introduction to Lakorns, or a weekend drama. Its fluffy, funny and filled with pretty people with great chemistry. You could do worse.
This really is a cute and quick drama. The last few episodes are chaotic and fast-paced. They could have taken a few minutes to properly link the plot from moving from one topic to another. Just fun! And the short segments at the end are delightful. Recommend to all!
I'm one of the many people whose main reason for watching The King's Woman was bc Dilmurat Dilraba & Zhang Vin were staring in it. Even though Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms wasn't my fav (I fell for Zhang Vin in the first few episodes and never really got over it:'-) I loved both actors in it. That being said, I loved this drama. The chemistry was explosive, there were no damsels in distress AT ALL, & even though I didn't like some of the male characters they weren't pushovers either. I hate that some dramas make it so one person has to be weak in order for another to be seen as strong. :-P There were many flashbacks (I fast-forwarded through those) and 1 or 2 characters that began as main roles that kinda of fell off with their absence being addressed in a throwaway line. That was annoying, but a great watch overall. The ending gave me all the feels, similar to Scarlet Heart Ryeo: the King ends up alone and heartbroken. If you're a fan of the King then it was heartbreaking. Otherwise you'd just be frustrated and think he got what he deserved. IDK As far as I'm concerned Dilmurat Dilraba & Zhang Vin are my new fav Cdrama pairing. More please!
I'm so glad you wrote about The Journey. This drama got me out of a slump and I loved it. Just the right amount of heart and comedy. BUT that ending.... >.< I took off an entire point from my rating just for that! It felt too open-ended for there NOT to be another season, but I haven't heard anything. If there is another season then I'd change my opinion, but if season 2 is the end...I'm so not happy with that and am disappointed that such a great drama just fell so flat at the end :'-(
All the feels! Glad I was able to get over my slump and watch this one. Cdramas with romance+fantasy/wuxia+historicals are quickly becoming my fav. My only complaint is the same as the one I had for 10 Miles of Peach Blossoms: only the OTP ends happily. Everyone else is dead or miserable (except Mi Yang & Li). Even the Mages, who we spent 56 episodes trying to clear were disbanded!! For that, this should have a tragedy tag. I was invested in at least Zhan finding happiness. It really hurt that he was a lonely Emperor in the end with no one left. (And no I don't count his wife, because that was one sided love. :-(
Queen of Mystery and Voice were 2 of my favorites in 2017, which is weird because I usually need a romance drama to make me rank them high. BUT the mystery element really did it for me this past year AND both dramas are slated to have sequels coming soon X-)
If I understood correctly, Kwang Ho will stop Mok Jin Woo in the past and the futur will change so I find it sad…
I agree with you. As much as I look forward to a happy ending it really annoys me when a drama gets messy at the end, especially when it was a solid drama throughout. I'd rather a sad ending then. Your theory makes sense about the time travel. I'll go with that understanding because otherwise I would be so confused at the end. Thanks!
I adore this drama. Fun, fresh plot, fantasy-filled joy ride. My only gripe is with the ending. I NEED a season 3. I'm willing to wait, but I really want to see Ya Long in present day. He was my favorite part of the entire series. :-*
Can you reccomend me some cdramas? I'm starting to get into them :)
Sure! The Vigilantes in Masks (action/adventure historical with some romance) Lady & Liar (There are no weak women in this, it gets a bit crazy though) My Amazing Boyfriend (Cdrama version of You Who Came from the Stars) Boss & Me (cute, fluffy, romantic comedy with no SLS) The Imperial Doctress (The epitome of strong female character w/historical settings) Scarlet Heart (Cdrama and Kdrama are amazing, can't go wrong. The ending though....) Love O2O (rom-com set in college & on gaming)
I feel the same as you about that whole 'pathetic female lead.' I'm over it. Not really feeling the Kdramas this year, but there are many many MANY Cdramas on my PTW list I'm waiting to be subbed. Especially the historicals. They tend to have stronger female characters & more gripping stories :-)
I love when a crime/investigation genre meets romance. Something about the combo just makes the drama more intense, more comedic, more refreshing than just a another rom-com or basic crime drama or procedural. The plot in itself was great: twists and turns that I just wasn't ready for (in a good way). The relationship between Jin Wook and Ma Yi Deum was great. I wish there was a little more focus on the romance, but what we were given was enough to make me ship them together. They were so cute! & don't worry, the cases were amazing too and all somehow tied back into the main plotline. Applause to the writers. This is definitely a must watch ,
Love all of these, but I am SOOOO over the gender bender. It's been done to death, & very well too. I'd rather watch something new. But I admit to putting dramas on my PTW list just based on the Love to Hate synopsis. Its interesting to see what circumstances bring enemies together. Plus, if its a comedy its just as funny and leads to just as many misunderstandings as a gender bender.
Really enjoyed this drama. I won't lie, Anthony's fashion for the first half of the series was enough to keep me tuned in. The man can work a suit! The romance was obvious, but the overall plot was fun. All the crazy things that could go wrong in getting a drama made, did go wrong... & it was a joy to watch. I don't know why this is tagged as a melodrama. Maybe bc its a bit dated, but the melo moments were hilarious to me, & not as heavy as a true melo, so don't let that deter you.
It wasn't until the second half that I really got into this, but once I did I was loving it. I liked all the bromances between the cops. There were so many, it was truly a great ensemble. I didn't really like Shin Jae Yi(maybe it was the actress' choice or just the character in general), but liked how her character was used for comedic moments. BUT the ending.... Are they planning a 2nd season because NOTHING was solved/addressed!?! It was super annoying. Did Park Gwang Ho catch the killer in the past and change things? How much changed in the future? Tell me!! Ugh.. :-/
If I make it through at least half the series, I will most likely finish it. My fear of investing time into a drama that I lose interest in is why I choose not to watch longer dramas. But, sometimes, if its a high score or has been recommended a lot, I'll give it 1-2 episodes.
I love Ha Ji Won & was overexcited for this drama and her in the role as noona in a romance series again. BUT for some reason I didn't really ship her character with Kwak Hyun. TBH for the first 10 eps I thought Kwak Hyun Hyun and Kim Jae Gul were the same person (am I the only one who thought they looked similar, even their general style!). I liked Jae Gul's storyline and family much more & his banter with Eun Jae. So right there, I was over the romance, but stayed for the hospital ship part. The cases were interesting and endearing & I was more moved by the patients than the Drs. There were 1 or 2 plot holes that left me frutrated, the ending felt slapped together & the final 'plot twist' felt unnecessary. PM me for details, but I'm disappointed. I expected brilliance from a dram Ji WOn is a part of, but I can appreciate it as a basic medical romance, but nothing more than that.
I was soooo into Goblin (still re-watch it every now & then) that I ended up re-enacting entire scenes for my friends in an attempt to get them to watch too. The friends I performed for didn't watch ANY kind of dramas (Kdrama, Jdrama, Cdrama, nothing). SO there I am for 30 minutes re-enacting my favorite scenes, using all the Korean names, playing all the parts to a roomful of confused/concerned faces who simply wanted to know what tv show I was currently watching. Awkward... (^-^;)
The Vigilantes in Masks (action/adventure historical with some romance)
Lady & Liar (There are no weak women in this, it gets a bit crazy though)
My Amazing Boyfriend (Cdrama version of You Who Came from the Stars)
Boss & Me (cute, fluffy, romantic comedy with no SLS)
The Imperial Doctress (The epitome of strong female character w/historical settings)
Scarlet Heart (Cdrama and Kdrama are amazing, can't go wrong. The ending though....)
Love O2O (rom-com set in college & on gaming)
