This was on my PTW list 4 a while, and having just finished Age of Youth I was excited to watch OTJ thinking it…
EmmaMartin I think you're right. I recently watched the 2nd season after hearing some good reviews and was pleasantly surprised! Not only is there better eye candy:-* but the character development is SOOO much better. Still, after 42 episodes I feel the character growth should have been better:-/
I enjoyed watching this drama. Even though it was full of melo moments, there were cute moments too. The beginning and ending eps are what really got me. Thats when all the feels were hit. The middle dragged a bit for me, maybe we could have cut a few eps here and there, but otherwise a solid choice for a action/legal thriller.
Started this 4 Lee Kwang Soo (yay finally in a main lead role) & knew this was going 2 be funny, but the actual hilarity of it all was AMAZING! Usually pass on family dramas just bc of cliches that are deal breakers 4 me: controlling & mean mothers, weak males/jerky Chaebols, heartbreaking 2nd leads, etc. But w/Lee Kwang Soo as lead, the comedy tag, & how short it was, I thought I'd give it a try. I was NOT disappointed. There was a bit more potty humor than was necessary, but even then I couldn't stop laughing. Don't think that its all laughs & no heart, bc there is...& boy did it hit me in the feels for the final few eps. Recommend this to ALL, it'l!l remind you of your own family at least a few times throughout the series, Feel good drama
I'm surprised I like this as much as I did seeing as there is NO romance in this at all. But the acting, the cases and the over chemistry between characters was so hypnotic, I couldn't help but continue to watch. I actually wouldn't mind a special/season 2. (I believe the kinda bromance between Shi Mok & Dong Jae would be amazing!) Sigh
Loved this drama! Its an ensemble driven series for sure. Everyone gets their time to relay their story, even…
Sure! There is a little in the form of slow burn goodness where the leads learn to love again, but this isnt a "romance" drama. Its more about learning to live with and move on from past heart-breaks in life.
If you're over the high school love dramas, then this is a good mature romance drama alternative. It didn't hook me immediately but it slowly builds interest with slow burn goodness. My only problems w/the drama are that as much character growth and depth ALL the characters get, they slip back into their annoying, over-bearing ways that almost made me drop this drama in the beginning. It was very frustrating. & in terms of the ending, Ling Ling and Jun Sheng ended up in a better position than any of our leads,IMHO. They still had their family, each other and Jun Sheng was promoted too? Meanwhile our three Musketeers split up, took major hits to their reputations and were loveless. Still salty after the ending :-/
He Han is now my favorite male character. Jin Dong did an amazing job with this role and now I have to watch him…
I picked this up after finishing season 2 of Ode to Joy. Jin Dong does such a good job of playing the supportive "friend" but I was hoping as male lead of this drama he'd end up with the girl. Unfortunately he plays the suffering-in-silent character to well for writers to let him EVER get the girl! Let me know how you like Surgeons. I don't want spoilers, but darn it I don't think my feels can take another Jin Dong drama where he 'just misses out' on his happiness :'-(
haha I completed this drama two days ago, but my memory is bad, and I already forgot how Mo Yi Huai died when…
G-Dragon of dramas? LOL! You should try watching Palace: The Lock Heart Jade. Exact same plot, a bit more serious but still has the comedy, plus a more solid ending :-)
Such a sweet drama. The majority of the drama is a lower budget, more comedic Scarlet Heart: girl time travels to past only to find herself in a love triangle w/the princes fighting for the throne. Its funny, cute, with a lot more heart than I was expecting. BUT the ending suffered from, what felt like a rushed ending that I feel are common in Cdramas. Plus it went from historical w/slight fantasy for 20 eps & then turned into a complete Wuxia for the last 5 eps! I mean WTF?! If not for that, I might have ranked this higher :-/
I was NOT a big fan of the 1st season, but I'm glad my MDL friends pushed me to watch the 2nd season. It was great! The character growth is SOOOOO much better and relatable than what I saw in season 1. And Guan Guan actually had a role. I was so upset that she wasn't used as well in the 1st season :-( Must admit, had Wei Wei come back instead of Bao Yi Fan, I would have immediately dropped this season. There was something so creepy ab his and An Di's relationship. Can't wait to for season 3 to drool over Bao Yi Fan for another 50+ eps! :-*
I thought I was the only one who was shipping Yun Xian and Ye Xian in the Imperial Doctress! By the time Ye Xian entered the story the love triangle was so intense I was ok with rooting a completely different ship! LOL
IDK why it took me so long to finish this show: the acting was great, the action is some of the best I've seen, & the plot was refreshing (although they lost me a bit at the end w/all the virus talk). & can I just say that I'm SO glad that Kim Tae Hoon plays a good
Guy in this. I've only seen him as a villain in dramas so I loved him in this. So of course his character just HAD to die :'( Argh! The problem I had was that, even though it was good there was nothing really grabbing me and making me want to watch the next episodes side after halfway through. But I'd recommend this for any mystery/crime drama fans wanting something for a long weekend. Solid.
This is exactly what everyone says: an easy to marathon sugary sweet rom-com full of the cute drama cliches we're all used to. I was expecting more from a network show though. It feels like a web series that got a bigger budget. Nothing wrong with that, but there are already many like this out there and done better IMHO.
This was one of the recs after finishing History of the Salaryman. Didn't give me the same feels, nor was the comedy as consistent & if I'm honest I didn't like the female lead as much as I did in HOTS. Maybe bc the villains were full blown evil rather than having any redemptive qualities (IMHO) but this wasn't as enjoyable. If I knew just how melo this was I'd never have started. Other than that: its a decent revenge drama, a bit of comedy here and there and some solid side characters. Just not my cup of tea :-(
Love them all. Usually the dramas with great OSTs get a better ranking from me: just another element to make an already good drama better & add to the feels!
I was so ready 2 hate this: I loved the Cdrama, I'm not a big fan of Lee Joon Gi, & w/the 20 episodes, it didn't look like it would hit the same feels as the Cdrama which was nearly twice as long. BUT I LOVED it. Just as much! I laughed myself out of my chair, I cried until my pillow was soaked & shipped Hae Soo with every prince at 1 time or another. The ending is such a turnoff IF there is no 2nd season. (same as the Cdrama they left it open ended). I'm hoping for a 2nd season, but if season 2 is anything like what they did w/2nd season of the Cdrama I'd rather just live w/1 stellar season & resort 2 fanfic. (it was really bad, guys :-(
Let me just say: I shipped Ka Suo and Shi harder than many romantic couples from other dramas i've given higher ratings to. I'm considering watching the 2nd season just for them (unless someone has advice to the contrary). The romances were "meh" after halfway through and the ending confused the crap out of me. Honestly? After 62 episodes, even if it was supposed to be a cliffhanger into a 2nd season, the viewers deserved a better ending. Or at least one that is better explained for those of us who haven't read the novel. Shame!
It's been a while since I've gone back to re-watch 1 or 2 scenes and end up re-watching most of the episode. Great drama. I'm a sucker whenever I get to see the relationship part play out rather than just have the drama climax with the couple getting together. The falling in love part is nice, but awesome writing really shines during the course of a couple's relationship. That's exactly what happened here. <3
This was SOOOO good! I'm usually unhappy when the romance in drama isn't front and center and resolved by the end, but bc there will be a season 2 I'm all for this ending & actually looking forward to solving the mysteries that were left unsolved. Perfect balance of drama & comedy, bromance/romance/friendship, and ALL the feels! Needs to be ranked higher ;-)
The ending was so bitter sweet. Had me in tears for the entire episode :'-) Kyung Pyo is such a perfect 2nd lead, but I'd love to see him as lead, especially in a romance drama. He needs to get the girl at least ONCE in his career!
Guy in this. I've only seen him as a villain in dramas so I loved him in this. So of course his character just HAD to die :'( Argh! The problem I had was that, even though it was good there was nothing really grabbing me and making me want to watch the next episodes side after halfway through.
