I'm loving this series to death, but I don't see nothing wrong with the rating? 8.3 is a high rating and it also accounts to some of the little flaws of the series.
Look, this series is not about perfect characters. Most of them are bad people (they're in the mafia after all), and some of them are toxic and problematic, but you know what? I'm here for it! This series is dark and gritty, with a dash of comedy and action, sexual chemistry and romance and such raw performances! It took a while to get its pace but now I'm fully addicted! I can't see anyone rather than Apo and Mile playing Kinn and Porsche. They portray perfectly the dark side of these characters but also their vulnerability and tenderness with all the nuance necessary to pull it off. I'm blown away by these two!
Does Kinn apologise for that night in the novel too? I loved that he apologised twice and showed remorse!
I think I prefer it much more like it happens in the series then. I think the script writers read the room and the BL audience and realised that following the novel to a T wouldn't work in a visual medium like a series. It also makes us love Kinn more and root for them as a couple which might not have happened if Kinn was so unapologetic of his actions like in the novel.

We need to remember that none of these characters are good people. Not even our beloved Kinn and Pete who being in the mafia makes them kill people and do lots of shady business. But regardless we love these characters because it's fiction. Vegas is an awful person and I don't want him to win, but still I'm interested in seeing what he'll bring to the table and he has such a magnetic charisma! I'm intrigued by this character and need to see more of him. The actor is also performing this role perfectly.

I haven't read the novel nor know any spoilers about it but I had this personal theory that Kim is looking for clues about another child raised by his father in the mafia that he thinks it's Porsche. Hence that hand print of a child in the father's office ad his interest in Porsche and therefor Porschay to get more information about Porsche and his childhood. I could be totally wrong but I think his reasons is to investigate a family secret. I also like your idea of Kim wanting to protect Kinn due to feeling guilt for leaving the mafia and pursuing a dream that was also Kinn's dream. He could also be investigating an internal conspiracy in the family as we get this idea that there's a mole/traitor on the inside and he might suspect Porsche's involvement in it due to his rapid entry and rise in the bodyguard hierarchy and getting so close to Kinn all of a sudden. Apparently there wasn't much background info on Porsche when they hired him as opposed to all the other bodyguards.

It's rare to see such chemistry in K-BL and even kdrama in general, but theirs was fire. And the way they looked at each other so fool of love. Amazing!

Oh I see! Was it political censorship? Knowing the situation in Thailand I thought they risked a lot and was surprised they were even allowed to broadcast it. I thought maybe they gave such a mild and vague resolution to Tawi could be to avoid pissing some people out and the series be canceled? I felt they had a lot more to say.
This series is brilliant but I think the last episodes were too rushed and as if there are missing scenes and some things weren't quite explained. Anyways one of the best BL series!
