And even the thriller, more often than not it’s about money… just like the Abby Choi case… and in a way it’s kinda similar coz it’s caused by a group of people… like super eery in the sense Abby Choi’s chauffeur is also like the brother of the ex-husband. Somehow it reminds me of the chauffeur in this series. 😳

BUT…. I thought it was an amazing series.. the parallels contrasting, weirded out but… it’s so engaging… mostly coz of the way it was shot… so the high production quality made a massive difference. Otherwise it would have just came out weird, b.s and totally crappy…

Oh yea, for sure. I most defo understood the marriage dynamic even from the start. I still think it’s a tad abstract…
But the thriller yea, I mean they kinda cheated with the whole fall guy, but he’s just the stand-in guy.. the last domino to fall…. It’s coz all 4 of them prior… like the dude who raped her, wife, the chauffeur, esp the guy downstairs actually… I mean. Xia Bing Qing is quite crazy honestly… lol. And it reminds me girls can be kinda crazy if they want to be… so her reaction is always bizarre.. at least I think so.. for me, I would have either sued his ass… or just take loadsa money and bolt. Or maybe both, But she wanted to do kamikaze… 🤔🤔🤔 I’m not a big revenge person… so… yea.

Btw, they defo shortened the ending, I read that her colleague actually kissed her in the novel… which made her go through a revelation because she was really shocked.. but in the series they just made it into a ambiguous confession…

I just finished the raw Ep. I like the case though. I think it’s one of the more realistic non-psycho thriller cases. It’s actually highly plausible… in current times. I was sorta expecting this kinda ending, it was one of the scenarios. It was the “butterfly effect” thing she hinted earlier. So the entire thing is a domino effect basically… the final killer as much as he was a random person isn’t all that random to begin with… It all truly started with the guy who raped her and subsequently the guy downstairs…. And also to be absolutely fair, she did have a Stockholm syndrome thing going on whereby her response was also…. Really out of the ordinary.

But yes, the whole parallel thing with her home life, esp the ending I watched just now…. Yea. So like the novel, they left it as an open ending. Without ever explaining why he was at the hotel and who the mystery girl was…. That bit was a bit too abstract for my liking… it leaves a lot of food for thought but…. Ummm…. Yea, I mean to be fair, a good amount of relationships and marriages are….. “abstract”… but I was hoping for more than that I spse.

Lol. To be really fair.., there are loadsa 2 “incapable” parents though…, hence why I find it quite ironic… if we look around now, and even precedent generations… there are loadsa it. I don’t know if that is why the kid is so mature… maybe nature or maybe nurture..

Sad. If so then I think the TV adaptation did a decent job. I was really trying to read it via MTL but only got snippets here and there, so couldn’t totally piece tog the entire puzzle.

Lol. Love your questions. So I did some digging into the novel. It looks like these are the questions they explored… but they provided very metaphorical answers and gave an open ending. So the whole novel was wrapped around realism… whilst also projecting these mistrust and doubts… cracks in a marriage… so how valuable is monogamy… wot is everyone’s definition of monogamy….?

Lol. I like your last statement! I laughed…. everyone is so riled up by Song Jia’s character. I am too. Esp the whole car exchange… but there really are discrepancies… and I’m as curious to this as much as I’m curious wrt on-going case…

But then….. I really hope they provide an explanation for the discrepancies though…. Regardless of who is having the mental illness… like… esp the points I mentioned in the spoiler. I also really want to understand wot is on about the hotel room thing… hence why I tracked down the novel…. But…. There is no Eng translation and it’s not a webnovel, it’s a published book… had to collect bits and pieces via the web…

The on-going case I have no doubts it will be solved… it has been progressing well.

1. Like Pei Zhen and him…. She sent him signals but it seems like they both have contradicting memories on wot actually took place wrt his response….. I legit don’t think she was hallucinating though…. Wot took place in the room, fine, that was her deduction… but wot she said about him telling her if she divorced then he’d follow suit…. That’s……. 🤔
2. The slitting of FL’s wrist…. Hurmmmm…. Is he not hallucinating? She clearly doesn’t even have a scar… she was unscathed.

Guys and girls. Regardless… I still really liked this drama. Still looking forward to the ending, kinda counting down.
Everyone is so pissed at the FL (including me, kinda reminds me of some real life people I’ve met that have said the exact same things) but no one brought up like how the ML might have a psychological thing going on… 🤣

I still think it’s super good although there are so many eye-rolling moments. The lead actress really managed the role super well. She totally makes your blood boil, but at the same time puts one at awe when it comes to her commitment to work.

I kinda respect the husband for not equally giving her back by constantly asking her if she actually loves him. Work as a reason only takes it that far, at some point it becomes an excuse. If it was me I’d just shut her up by asking why did she even ask for a divorce in the first place even when everything is just suspicion without proof. I don’t see her throwing all suspects into prison….. 🙄 super double-standards. Which fine, she admitted. But she’s being super unfair.

I swear Lee Dong Wook literally became better looking the past 2-3 yrs. like did he actually get micro-surgery on his face? Or is the change in hairstyle that big an impact? She really….. knows how to suffocate and drain a person…. Not even kidding. I mean wot kinda bullshit was she trying to justify when they were talking in the car….. She’s super self-centred.

But I personally think she’s very…. Uhh… self-centred… I wouldn’t say she’s selfish per se… but she has this thing whereby she is lost in her own world and everything revolves around herself mostly… until she comes back to reality at times. Yeap, couldn’t agree more… and hence why she admitted it… when she gave analogies to their 15 year relationship. She admitted that she has sort of fallen out of love with him. I don’t think she has 0 love for him anymore…. But then I also think she has gotten to the point whereby she’s completely fine without him… hence why she said…. Because I don’t love you anymore, hence there is completely 0 tolerance for any flaws. I actually think this is so true in any relationship/marriage…
I don’t think she realised it consciously until her husband actually blurted it out…. In a way…. This whole communication could have came earlier…. Then maybe…… there would be something left to salvage… coz…. I really don’t think it was the husband’s fault that she doesn’t really love him anymore… I think it was more of….
