Mainland thrillers are rarely good… not their strongest forte… and usually it is pretty one-dimensional…. Like The Longest Night… I bookmarked A Murderous Affair in Horizon Tower but haven’t watched it yet…

I have others but they are usually from a police perspective… like it’s mostly a police/detective main plot…. 😒 Under the Skin was pretty good… and also Be Reborn..

Yes. Mostly Mainland thrillers are pretty bad….. and the ones which are good are too one-dimensional and just heavy…… I tried watching The Long Night…. Failed….

Did you watch Beyond Evil? That main actor reaaaaaallllyyyy looks like male version of Kate Moss… I also couldn’t get into that drama…. Lol. I just keep focusing on that guy’s eyes and like can’t pay attention.

Lol. Yes. I’m surprised at how tall he is…. Only Vengo Gao is as tall as him…. And maybe only a few more… Mainland actors (esp the ones that get the main roles) aren’t that tall in general.

Looolll… I tried Flower of Evil twice but both times I failed to engage in the series because of that ML…. That actor reminds me of the male version of Kate Moss….. I keep getting distracted by his super far apart eyes…. 🤣🤣🤣

It honestly caught me by surprised. I clicked on the play button without much expectations…. Just coz I find the main actress very pleasant. So I usually will give the dramas she’s in a chance; like watch the first episode at least…. I even made a joke about the title of this series in one of the posts above….

Yea, I’m super curious too. They haven’t revealed the ML’s personal storyline yet. Surprised the screenplay wasn’t adapted from a novel/webtoon… it’s really well-written so far…. It truly has kept me very curious. 🤣

Yea, but she DEFO took the materials to bargain…. Think the price was RMB2million… and there was also a glimpse of her ex-bf and her having a convo because her ex-bf is involved. There were a few exchanges but I don’t remember all of them. But main point is she did leverage on the info she has obtained so far… both from her audit and the materials she got from her best friend. Looks like she wants more than money…

Btw, they’ve released clips hinting that her best friend also has a hidden agenda, but nothing has been revealed on the ramifications of it yet…..

Yes!! Balance! Which is so damn rare in Mainland dramas…. Like I’m surprised I actually didn’t FF anything and the pace was superbly engaging for all the released episodes….

Oh I watched The Eight as well. Was good but I wasn’t hooked or charmed by it though… unlike this one… maybe coz I like Elvira Cai….. I find her face + voice very pleasant…. And easily acceptable for most people.

Yeap let’s hope they do… just checked, it’s 38 episodes… a slight stretch.. looks like another 10 episodes or so would be enough… fingers crossed in hopes that they developed this melodrama + thriller well…

Well I think they do… and her best friend in a way is kinda like her just that the FL does it the silent way by not explaining anything (so she’s also prickly) and her best friend just says everything to her without filters instead of hiding things (prickly in her own way)…..

Just that it has now become sensitive because of the situation she is in…. But her best friend mentioned that she has always reminded her even throughout the marriage…. In a way I think that’s a precious friend…… someone who’d really tell you facts and the truth even when you are in denial and it’s painful to hear…. To be fair, everything her best friend has said is true although she communicated it awfully (but that happens when people are really close hence why squabbles between siblings happen so often)…. She isn’t that kinda dumb… she’s really smart actually…. But she has become dumb in the sense of being obsolete…and she never made an effort to keep up due to comfort….

It’s also true that she has lost the ability to judge well and is swinging from side to side…. Overly suspicious or suddenly overly trusting…. because the FL likely fears people she is close to now versus a stranger due to deceit of her dead husband, which isn’t necessarily right….. any being can have ulterior motives, regardless of someone close or a stranger…

I can’t believe I didn’t resist temptation and started binge watching….. didn’t expect it to be so good, Mainland dramas are usually a disappointment when it comes to thrillers. This one is actually pretty darn good so far…..

Damn, I will be left stranded for 2 weeks….. 😠 the suspense is killing meeeee….
