That’s true, but I think it’s partially coz Mainland’s production was kinda behind esp back then, so they probably weren’t that open and creative yet when it comes plots and themes…. Even now the creativity bit still has a lot of room for improvement…
But seriously the development and progress the past 5 yrs has been exponential for the Mainland productions. Like it’s super apparent in all aspects… CGI, storyline, color grading, wardrobe etc.
Why on Earth did they change the cast…. 🙄🙄🙄😒😒😒😡😡😡 and I’m sorry to say this but the replacements didn’t fill in the large shoes…..
Lee Tae Gon and the actress who was his stepmother was the perfect cast, their chemistry was off the charts and it’s actually believable…. Lee Tae Gon looks entirely like the role… lol. Like if he lies….. you’d just fall for his charm just because of his face+gaze… 🤣 WHYYYYY did they change that actor…??? I wanted to watch him on the receiving end in S3!!! Ughhhhhhhh!!! Even Seung Hoon… could totally see why they paired him with that wife/ex-wife, they look visually stunning on-screen. Just like some couples in real life. All the replacements were epic fail.
Seo Ban is so damn sweet and cool…. 😍😍 his story kinda reminds me of Koo Jun Yup and Barbie Hsu in real life, it’s seriously quite similar. The most surprising thing is Barbie Hsu’s ex-husband reacted the exact same way like how it was portrayed in this series. Makjang aside, I actually think the whole infidelity + couple situations + family dialogues + wisdom are quite realistic and was very thought-provoking. Love the Seo Ban couple the most because it’s really plausible and realistic….
Really sad that there isn’t a Season 4 given the crazy extreme ending.

Uhh, your questions are a bit odd for this drama though…. It isn’t exactly the typical romance series. I mean there is a very touching one at the end…. But the main theme isn’t actually about the couples getting tog…. 🤔 it’s quite a unique series, difficult to describe… but there aren’t many like heart wrenching, fluttering moments like the typical romance series…. It completely isn’t the focus of the series at all… it’s basically closer to the genres they tagged above in the Details section, there isn’t even Romance mentioned….
This was surprisingly quite good. They were quite smart to keep it short at 8 episodes… it’s not like a hit but worth the watch at least… and it is quite exciting+engaging…

Hahaha. Yes, it took me quite a while to realise that both the series have a Fatty… I was so confused coz I watched like Candle in the Tomb in random order….. and I was like Shitz. No wonder I got confused.
Yea, so the thing about Candle in the Tomb is the main plot is quite straightforward…. It is basically like Indiana Jones storyline but for tomb raiding. It’s mostly about trying to lift the curse. So there arent any “grey” elements unlike Daomu Biji whereby there are borderline plots I.e open-ended questions on some of the characters on whether they are fully human (I believe this is so it doesn’t get censored/banned in Mainland)…. And the plots are a lot more complicated and convoluted with no true main plot.
Damn… this was really good… and kudos to the scriptwriter… the dialogues and also a lot of the scenarios were very realistic… regardless of ones’ sexual preferences…
Geez. Ji Jin Hee was good in this role man…. He basically nailed it and he even looks the part…. I watched because of Son Seok Kyu….. also really liked his role here… kinda cute and silly at times. Lol.
I’m surprised the plot and the execution was really solid… it’s actually comparable to the American version unlike the Korean Suits… I really hope there is a Season 2 for this one..

No worries…but defo watch the Jin Dong one first. And if you really have a lot of time watch the Wrath of Time one as the very first then only do the Jin Dong one… coz as much as I already have some form of background…. it was a bit all over the place for me coz I ended up watching all of them in a random order…. I have no idea why MDL refuses to link up all the Candle in the Tomb series. They did it for Daomu Biji but I submitted a request for them to link it up but they just refused it. They gave like a really vague explanation on why they rejected it.
So basically you have to look for it on your own. I think they’ve adapted until the 7th volume for TV series already. With 5th and 6th not released yet I think…
