Ending was so predictable…….. Mainland will do everything to show that the law and the govt. trumps everything….. =.= though I admit the theme on nature vs. nurture was well played… they totally could have executed it better though
Yea it is but even the novel is quite mellow unlike Untamed with explicit scenes in the novel… I personally…
Yea! Totally… but they are also like probably a decade older and likely more experienced than the Untamed leads (just vaguely recalling from memory, reality could differ)…. That is a significant difference….
No Shitz. I was totally captivated by their chemistry….. like….. 😳. Also coz Simon Gong is very “foxy”….. he’s not exactly feminine but more of androgynous and he is tall!
it’s just really unfortunate on wot happened to Zhang Zhe Han after…. Poor dude. Really blown out of proportion….
Mr Gu is an alcoholic who drinks big amounts of alcohol everyday....and turns out to be so athetlic that he could…
Lol. I thought about that too… but he seems to be a high functioning alcoholic though…. I have met people like that in real life…. And they can do it until their body gives in one day, likely when they are older. Like >50yrs old..
He is truly a man with a strange appeal…. Far from wot I would describe as handsome or good looking but he just has this enigmatic charm… it’s crazy. And he is a damn good actor…
Super weird and odd drama that just caused me to have my eyes glued tight to the screen for the first few episodes. (I watched it with no expectations…., had no idea wot to expect…) I think one reason is that it’s so realistic and applicable to Asian families….
I do think many Asian families, low-middle class…. is like depicted…… and also how it reflects the struggles of the generation in the 27 to 40 yrs old range…. And how there is sucha huge gap in understanding and mentality between that generation and their parents…. Education, stability and how society is now mostly white collared workers…… is something very different versus back in the day…. It is depressing though, but I do believe a lot of people had similar thoughts at some point. I for one could totally relate to so many scenarios if I was dealt the same hands… the dialogues are so relatable….
And Son Seok Kyu… made Mr.Gu super duper charming and attractive although he is really not good looking…. 🤣
It’s amazing how Korean actors are all so consistent and capable/talented…. Esp all the minor and supporting roles…. Like they are so good. It’s crazy… Lee El was like a completely different person versus her role in Goblin…. She was drop dead gorgeous and badass there…. Even spooky and sexy all at the same time…. 😳
The ending is as weird as the whole TV series itself….. was just a very unexpected end… not bad and not good….
The Louis Litt equivalent for this was just so bad… and downright wrong…. The original series was just exceptional…. Season 8,9 might be a bit weak… but… this is a challenging remake. This Korean one was still worthy I spse…. Worth the watch but MDL’s score is totally reflective…
Let's give this a try, I'm a huge fan of the original but I'm tempted to try this version since they chose Jang…
Haha. I was a big fan of the original Suits… I think this one doesn’t really compare but physically (and also his demeanour), the dude does really feel like Mike from the original series. I keep seeing Mike in him. 😳 The rest of the characters are just alright… Jang Dong Gun is like half-ish…., his room presence really doesn’t command the same kinda attention…. But his acting capabilities made up for it, and the plot for him was well-written. All the female characters were disappointing esp given how all the female characters in the original series were like “Wow”. The equivalent of Louis Litt was just downright wrong… 🤦♀️ For one the wardrobe for the entire cast was an epic fail…. And that was an important aspect for the original Suits esp apparent for all the female leads.. the chemistry between both the male leads were solid though, esp the dialogues between them.. that was very similar to the original series.
It’s an okay attempt at a remake I spse… still worthy…
Overall, this is a good, slow-paced drama (if you like that kind of thing). I was left with a few questions at…
1. So that she doesn’t carry that guilt with her especially since they are dating. I might have lied too. It’s just weird. In a way his mother died to save her. 2. Overwhelmed with her mother. Like she has always ran away her whole life… I was a bit surprised when she did it too… but some people choose to relocate to try to start a new life again kinda thing….
Same here.I told a lot of people nivirna in fire is overatted. Very slow drama.JOL tops is for me.
Yeasssss. I mean it was very smart and intricate…. But after I completed it I just felt…. “Sorry… why did I spend all that time watching it….?I mean great, I understood how a person got revenge but like wth… not only was it beyond sad…. Was it really necessary!?!?”
The FL is seriously super cute and attractive here. She’s not even my type… Lol. I can’t imagine any guy resisting a young girl like that….. 🤣 even girls won’t be able to resist her considering she is so manipulative… but she does it just right though..
But I think the order is wrong though… Reunion occurs later than Tomb of Sea… I think Qin Hao’s eyes are…
I read it. Not all…. There is a very solid unofficial English translation by Merebear. She (I’m assuming it’s a she) even does all the side stories and extras. Those are super fun to read. So I enjoy reading those that have less action sequences in them.
But I think the order is wrong though… Reunion occurs later than Tomb of Sea… I think Qin Hao’s eyes are…
Fair point on XiaoGe. I forgot about that Ten Years thingy and he was absent.. Yea, defo that pain man… like the lost of the naivety.. taken over by maturity and shrewdness.. which was why I felt it was kinda odd because Zhu Yi Long reverted to the naive Wu Xie…. And his Second Uncle ruled his life there which was so cute…
I watched Reunion before starting this (I'm only five episodes in) and idk if Zhu Yi Long in addition to the novel…
But I think the order is wrong though… Reunion occurs later than Tomb of Sea… I think Qin Hao’s eyes are naturally more…… seasoned, weathered…. Like it’s really convincing given all that Wu Xie has experienced.
But Zhu YiLong’s eyes are naturally quite naive… which then reminds me of the young Wu Xie… 😔 and also he is in reality younger…
But they are both really good actors. I’ve never watched Qin Hao before prior to this,
😒😒😒 how ridiculous, just because she is much older than the original character but it’s called acting…
Ah. Trailers are a good tell-tale…
Good point on JoL. Coz it literally just got cut-off. 🤣 not even kidding.
MingLan vs. Dream of Splendour….. hurmmm no. Not the same though I can see why some might think so. DoS was good but not great for me. MingLan has a very unique theme though…. It’s very specific by the author of that novel. Something which I believe all girls should watch when they are like 18 or so. 🤓 So it was kind of different for me in that sense…
Really?!?! Honestly I think C-dramas could be quite repetitive in term of plots (probably why I found DoS good but not great, like it was a mashup of a few dramas and by mid-way of the drama I already felt 😕… so it would have worked if I was really into Crystal Liu or the ML, they were good, chemistry was great too…. Just by mid-way it reminded me of so many other C-dramas, and I’m neutral towards most of the actors and actresses, so I started to become very rational, and nothing was really out of the ordinary, like OST, the set, costumes etc)… but Forever and Ever was so different… I think I’d always remember it. I thought the author was quite smart in choosing a modern setting. But apparently she said she took inspiration from her own life… something like that. Haha, maybe you just won’t like it coz it’s very obvious One and Only had a much bigger fanbase. But I’m kinda weird as well. Lol, I fit in the minority more often than not.
SSS should partially be due to the FL, the casting of the FL. Her acting wasn’t bad but I reckon it had the same issue as Ever Night… like just unsuitable esp physically + visually. So it turns out a bit odd for a lot of people. I was alright with it, I mean I noticed it but it didn’t annoy me.
Not exactly.. but more of the framework of the whole series was similar… like the romance’s pacing… and how the whole series is structured, like how they weaved it with the politics/feud bit… also the nature of the politics is kinda similar as well…. but there are still some differences in main themes… coz TLB is revenge… that was apparent. And TLB is kinda philosophical coz they touched on Taoism/Confucianism in the 2nd half.. Rebel Princess wasn’t like that and had some other differing themes.
Haha, I also like all genres except….. war… lol. I don’t like to watch war movies or series… and pure comedy…. I hardly like pure comedies mostly because I don’t find it funny and just go 😒…. That aside everything goes even horror. 🤣 uhhh…. I’m a big fan of the whole The Lost Tomb series and Ghost Blows out the Light… like you, I also loved WoH and Untamed, but I’m probably in the minority whereby I thought the former was better than the latter. I have a long list because I’ve just had so much more at-home time during this pandemic… so on top of the ones that I’ve mentioned/we’ve discussed and excluding K-dramas….. Ancient Detective, Master of my Own (going to mention this again 🤣), Legacy, The Imperial Coroner, Eternal Love of Dream, Miss S, The Sword and the Brocade.
I really like mysteries and like case-solving/investigative stuff… so there is a bunch of that which warrants for a separate discussion coz… C-dramas are kinda behind in that genre. You mentioned Reset. I know that was like a dark horse… I haven’t watched it yet but it’s on my list. Another one which I noticed you didn’t mention and it’s super popular was Love and Redemption…. I totally didn’t like it… and also didn’t really understand why it was such a big hit… 🤔 I think for me who the specific actor or actress is matters and whether they fit that role really matters… like I watched Love and Redemption actually but I had the same feeling with Ashes of Love… it was a tad better, I FF and ended up finishing it… but Ashes of Love I didn’t. I watched maybe 15 episodes and then watched the last 3 episodes…something like that… coz for example I don’t think I’ve ever been very into any of the series Cheng Yi has starred in as the main role…. but I don’t think he’s a bad actor. He’s alright… and he isn’t annoying/weird or anything, I have nothing against him… just he picks all these roles which are very masculine…. Or like powerful and every time I see him I think he is so….. tiny…. And he looks so much like a high school kid/university student…. 😔 He actually looks pretty androgynous…
Another example would be Mysteries of Love, I thought the plot was unique too…. But I think the colour grading/production quality really annoyed me…. And the leads…. I found the ML’s acting or more of his facial expression very odd. Lol. Although his physique totally fits the role. So couldn’t get into it. Didn’t exactly complete it. On the opposite end of the spectrum would be Love btwn Fairy and Devil.. I’m totally neutral towards both Esther Yu and Dylan Wang, don’t think I’ve even watched them before but the CGI and the OSTs were really like… woah… lol. And the ML could really act… he really fits the role. And the most amazing thing is the FL didn’t annoy me… hahaha. She deserves praise for it coz she totally isn’t my style. She did really well!
I don’t know if the story was good or bad because takahashi issei and aoi yu performances was just mesmerizing.…
The one where he told her “I married you not to have kids.”…. That is modern romance right there…. And it’s true that everyone gets married for different reasons and having kids is really one of the main reasons…. Which in a way I’ve always found that really sad…
