Your comment struck a cord with me. I agreed almost all of it, I too suffered from seeing it as a biopic especially…
Hi, hope you had a good day?
I wanted to send my reply as a message instead of on the TTD comment section cos it was getting really long but lemme know if that's not cool. Tho I'm not sure how it works or if I have to send you a friend request first so I did that.
Wuxia and Xianxia, sounds confusing but fun to figure out. MLC does look the same storywise as TBOY but I'll bow to your knowledge on which is a better starter drama. But do you mean dense like too much is happening at every time?
My first cdrama ever was Hikaru no go (have you watched?) which I unexpectedly adored and has become one of my all time favorite dramas anywhere but I noticed that they don't make a lot like that which is sad but IDWTBBWY looks exactly like something in the vein that I'd like so it's officially on my list and I'll check it on Viki like you said. I haven't watched that many dramas but I've been lucky to see only good subs so yay!
I hear you about the BGM, it does set the mood and can elevate a story and I respect that you can pick up on it easily. Maybe I should start paying better attention, might make dramas even more enjoyable.
The way you talk about NIF and the reception it has makes me want to watch it so I will but I'm busy at the moment. Go ahead sounds good but looking through, it seems like the siblings?? fall in love or something which 😬😬
Sunshine by my side is purely a romance right?? I just find watching romances soooo hard. Deeply embedded, not the main plot point and barely mentioned then cool or I need the slowest burn that ever burned, like cold coals catching fire with only the heat of the sun as their fuel (or something dramatic like that). Seriously, my fav romance is Hailey and Jay from Chicago P.D and it took a minute (season 8 or 9) but that's what I loved. First I loved them as characters and then watching them grow as partners over seasons had me rooting for it to become more then they got together so gently and married so quietly and then it's just so understated and barely there (as it should be in a cop show) that when they do anything "couply" I just smile. And watching them relate is lovely and I think they have a solid foundation and Jay even became shady for her and just a lot of things I don't think can be depicted easily in a drama so I mostly just stay away.
Your comment struck a cord with me. I agreed almost all of it, I too suffered from seeing it as a biopic especially…
I will certainly try UTS, I have a couple of episodes already. I also love good art so I'm excited.
I've heard of Nirvana in fire but I haven't been able to watch a good martial arts cdrama yet cos the effects in them look so weird whenever I glance at it. I watched Under the microscope as a starter to costume dramas and it was simple and good tho not great and I haven't been able to watch any since. But I've heard about Blood of youth and I was going to try that as my next costume drama before NIF to know what to expect esp as I think NIF is the deeper one and I don't want to just jump in and then jump back out.
I love character driven stories also, they are some of the best but I'm the opposite when it comes to OSTs, I don't really pay attention to the music but if it's good enough to break through to my brain then I consider it awesome like Signal's intro song but I can count on one hand how many OSTs I actually remember and still have like two fingers left.
I will check out Nobody knows cos you recommended it but the FL was in Sky Castle and I didn't love it or anyone in it so it'll be tentative. Good detectives seems like fun.
I don't mind the recommendations at all. I do like crime/thriller dramas, I like bromances but I don't watch just for it as I've found bromance without a good story is nothing, I rarely if ever watch a romance, and I absolutely love found family and slice of life's if you know any from anywhere please.
Your comment struck a cord with me. I agreed almost all of it, I too suffered from seeing it as a biopic especially…
I'm glad you'd recommend UTS, will certainly check it out. I've heard good things but alot of crime dramas are not what I'd hoped.
You know as you said it, I hadn't thought that way but I agree, the reasoning process was choppy atimes and sometimes I just gave up on the flow of it and thought maybe twas me or the subs esp when they were trying to spell it out to the cops.. so thanks for that. I hate illogical storytelling even in a fantasy story but this wasn't that so we good.
10 is a masterpiece for you! do you think that exists?? Like the perfect crime, it might be impossible you know? I've given a couple of 10s but for me that's when I wouldn't change a scene, I loved where I met them, who I met and am happy about where I left them. The story was told clearly and flowingly (is that a word?), well acted and my mood/feelings have a lot to do with it, like in 'Would you like a cup of coffee', any other time than when I watched it and it might have been a solid 8 but where I was emotionally made it a 10. I wouldn't add an episode, take away a dialogue, change the cast and I'm happy that drama world exists as imperfect as it could be. Maybe that is my masterpiece 🤔😳. I wonder what would be a masterpiece for you?
I actually can't tell that English is not your first language, you're really articulate. And I was actually asking about TTD but thanks for also giving me your feedback on UTS.
There are both Korean and Chinese dramas titled Nobody knows.. you're talking about the Korean one, right?
The hardest part of the watch was NOT seeing it as a biopic. I mean, I know it's based on a book that tells some…
Your comment struck a cord with me. I agreed almost all of it, I too suffered from seeing it as a biopic especially by ep 4, that case messed with me and I was ready to drop cos tho I like crime dramas, I don't need the psychological burden hearing some things can sometimes create but I had to see how it all ended (or it wouldn't leave my mind) so after creeping through it with my ff & rewind button, I decided I could handle it tho my buttons were my friends especially during interrogations, some things I just don't need to hear (fictional or not).
I disagree with you on one point tho.. KNG looked fyne in everything, sometimes I'd pause especially in his suits with the dark shirts and just admire, so he was pretty much the light part of this for me. Also I never expected to find my very second drama crush in this show but apparently quiet, confident and competent is my type like HSM (the male lead in Stranger/secret forest) so I was a goner by like ep 6, thank you show for that.
I saw in your drama list that you've watched Under the skin. I'm thinking of watching it, would you say it's good? Also can I ask if you could tell me what you didn't like about this show?
Really enjoyed the first half right up to the catching and questioning of the killer by ep 8 but just could not get with the second half. I watched it with my sister and we took a break after ep 8 and while we were excited to continue, we wondered what the rest could possibly be about. After applauding the quick discovery of the killer, the whole thing got too bloated and at times ridiculous. Seriously, I get that it had to be really sordid to involve all the bad guys but the whole thing was truly overkill. I rolled my eyes so much from like episode 10 it wasn't even funny. Seriously what is with the death of the twin 🙄. Poor girl was never going to make it out of that night, it was so ridiculous the initial serial killer still got her back 🙄. Seriously!?
Also can anyone anywhere explain what in the world the redevelopment plan was about? My sister kept asking if redevelopment is a bad thing or are we just not thinking right. Cos 5-10yrs after the deaths, why wasn't a serious push made to redevelop, isn't it a good thing in most cases and it's not like the town suddenly became murder town, infact till the daughter dies, it seemed like there'd been no murders for over 20yrs (we know different but the town doesn't). But here the word redevelopment seemed shady and I just never got why! If the bad guy will actually build the mall or whatever then what does it have to do with anything or was it a money grabbing scheme. It seemed like the residents wanted it but it was being stalled by something which apparently shall not be named. I just don't get the whole thing and it must be important because it was mentioned sooo many times and looked to be the reason for living for two out of our three big baddies. Also now that all three important people in the town have been arrested, is that it? No redevelopment? I just want to understand 😭
I think this is one of those shows that you just have to find (or it finds you lol) at the right time. I LOVE…
This right here is my exact sentiment. The timing matters I think. I watched this at a time when it seemed heaven sent and fell deeply and now I can't find anything like it no matter the recs I see.
In a year where it seemed like I couldn't find a single drama to hold my attention long term and end amazing.. this is a breathe of fresh air. I enjoyed the show, the story and especially the acting. Also this might sound weird but I like the faces of this cast. It's so real and nice 😁😊
I would say ML's elder brother doesn't seem that well off either because we have no idea if he paid the debt or…
I think it was supposed to lean realistic, like how life is not neatly tied up with a bow at the end of difficult circumstances but I agree with you, the end was not good for me either. Thought about what you said and it's true, no one except FL seemed to have a resolute end. But why do you think ML made up with his wife who's apparently going to live abroad till their son graduates college🙄 (saw somewhere that this was in the conversation at the cafe at the last episode). Not saying they didn't but if loneliness made her cheat then this doesn't seem to be a good answer to trying to rebuild. So, I was leaning towards divorced. Especially with that weird thing between him and IU at the end. It is really a messy end.
I had put off watching this show for many years even-though I felt that I will like this one. I did like this…
I would say ML's elder brother doesn't seem that well off either because we have no idea if he paid the debt or if he's back with his wife or anything really. Seems like he spent his saved up money on a brothers day out or something. So, maybe still leaving with his mum and that's it? Do we just assume his end as with ML's marital status or did I miss it entirely.
I suggest My Wife's Having an Affair This Week (also known as Listen to Love). It has everything you listed above,…
Thanks for the recommendation. It looks alot like what I was looking for and I'm hoping it delivers but it's the same actor as PDH and I honestly felt put off with him by the end in my mister but I'll still check it out. Thanks again ♥️.
That's good to hear. I like the Coach Carter type of story where a mentor or teacher makes a difference so I'm really looking forward to it. The only thing thats stopping me is to see if there'll be a big romantic development between the students.
The end is just up to our imaginations, isn't it?? Please if anyone knows a show where there's been cheating by a married woman and the story deals with how the man handles it, -forgiveness, also cheating, divorce or something like that, but ultimately leading to healing, please can you recommend some for me.. Alot of what I see are women dealing with cheating men but haven't seen the other way around. Especially as a focus on the man and how they heal the marriage. Thanks♥️.
You gave this drama a 1 star. Just say you are an anti and move on, it's funny how you think it isn't obvious…
Do you think maybe you're misunderstanding the OP. They sound like they are cool with the actors but the story isn't their cup of tea. Isn't it okay for them to say so if that's the case? I'm personally not watching this just wanted to see how it was going but 4 episodes can sometimes tell you what to expect. At least they weren't being unnecessarily mean.
I absolutely loved every second of this drama. A reviewer put it in a way I resonate with and will never forget. To paraphrase; show is gentle with my heart and never makes me afraid of what's coming next, good or bad. You just knew you were in safe hands because there was so much care put into telling a lovely story and I felt and appreciated that. This was a wonderful watch for me, I'd only seen the synopsis, had never heard of the actors or even seen the trailer but the synopsis seemed like my jam and turns out it was everything I wanted.
Felt like watching a book unfold and that's one of my favorite types of shows. Mehn I love the found family trope♥️
