It didn't read as humiliation to me but more of a fierce will to rebel. Kudos to Naphat for managing to pull it off without looking the least bit silly.
There's a scene in ep.10 that might not be clear to some viewers. Spoiler below
King Nanda is so enraged that he tells Mingyi Swa to wear a woman's dress and kneel to apologise and ask for forgiveness. MS walking into court in that red wrap for women is what stuns the king and his courtiers. It is very humiliating for a man to wear women's clothing.
Damn. I cried from beginning to end. What a great finale. Lots of great moments and silence was used to maximum effect in certain scenes. To think Nared tried so hard to save Mingyi Swa only for his own father to push him toward certain death. King Nanda deserved what he got in the end; an empire and a legacy destroyed by his own hands.
Poor Mingyi Swa deserved better 😭 Superb acting by Tre and Naphat.
So true. It seems like he is telling fate I am going to give you what you want.
Today's episode official tagline: "Can the friendship of a younger brother overcome Heaven's will, or will it be defeated by a destiny that can't be defied?"
Re-watching ep.9: Mingyi Swa's outlook has changed in this episode to an almost fatalistic rebellion against fate. His anger and resentment when he looks at his father ordering him to war against his sworn brother, his quiet sorrow and helplessness when he says goodbye to Nared, his knowing and wary look as he gazes at his second brother and sees the jealousy there and that he can't trust him.
The culmination of all the bottled feelings comes out in this sentence: "So what if I die?"
Oh my god, the editing was just perfection. The team who did it deserves an award! Not a single misstep in the penultimate episode.
Poor Mingyi Swa deserved better 😭 Superb acting by Tre and Naphat.
It's going to be brutal
