Because the husband is weak and his mother is a simple uneducated woman. So the power in the household fell to FL's mother. FL's mother is from an influential family as seen from her original family being given the 9 degrees of family execution order by the emperor.

There are many mysteries yet but it's not impossible for her to hold power in the household. The second woman is only a concubine too.

Really like the friendship between FL and her pirate friend😄 Fujing can always be counted on for a strong performance.

Finished the first 4 eps. What a great start. No complaints at all in terms of the cast, costume design, or cinematography. And with 30 eps there won't be any fillers fortunately. Here's hoping it maintains the pace.
