QM truly loves QQ but he doesn't know how to express it at all. Due to his childhood and the absence of anyone who loved him or showed him any affection, he just does what he thinks a woman would like. Shower her with gifts and prestige and honour and hope she'll stay with him. He really is pitiful and QQ as a modern woman sees it more clearly than these people in ancient times.

Their story and doomed romance was a main draw for me. They're both complex characters.

LOVE the way Wei Yan handled things in the last scene of Ep.37. Cut from the same cloth indeed.

I read the novel and it wasn't like this. They reduced his role and his character's complexity. I like FCY but her story shouldn't have been the focus because it's frankly not as interesting as his trauma and 17 years of pain and endurance for revenge.

I hope he gets offered more roles after this. He's such a versatile actor

We didn't get to see anything of his character or reputation. It's the biggest let down of this drama.

It's not the 40 eps. It's the way the writing didn't include subplots and foreshadowing in the first 20 eps and left it all to the last 5 episodes. That's lazy.

I think it's bad writing and the fact there aren't enough eps left.

There is talk of them being offered main roles for a drama. So let's hope it pans out

Oh god yes. It used to be a grand scene with a hundred extras. Not a small family sized banquet XD

I think the uncle as a character and actor could have been better utilized in this drama. He had a lot of potential but it's all gone or reduced to a few lines in these last episodes
