Did Bai Lu actually cut her hair for this drama? When she has scenes with long hair it looks more like a wig than the short hair.

Amazing drama. It shows a glimpse into the chaos that existed in China during that period, but it doesn't go much into history or politics, rather focuses on the students of the military academy during that turmoil. Great acting, great story, high quality drama, and very human.

Watched this movie on Youtube, without subtitles. You almost don't need subtitles, the emotions carry the language. Great movie.

Well, it's a family drama, with dramatic situations, but also comedy, romance, etc. Overall it's lighter than dramas like Big Mouth (prison violence and such), or where people are killed off and such. For me it's a light drama because although it's dramatic it's not violent and dark.

It's easy to watch, and sometimes people just enjoy something like this. Sometimes the best dramas are too heavy and difficult to ingest, while this drama is much easier and light hearted.

I'm at episode 29, and it's been getting so much better in the past couple or so episodes. It started a bit silly, but it's so much more matured now, 7.3 rating I am starting to disagree with, maybe 8.0, 8.2.

I just love how cliche it is :D it's almost comically cliche, and I like that. If they did that and weren't aware of how cliche it was, I'd be surprised.

This is like a family sitcom drama almost, American style. Just need the laughing audience.

I actually quite enjoy watching this, very guilty pleasure, hehe.

It's not bad, but it's not a "great" drama, it's a guilty pleasure and you need to be open to accepting the cliquishness and have fun watching without expectations.

What is with this MDL rating? Below 8? This is a travesty. It's one of my favorite dramas I've watched this year. It's very engaging, very good story and great acting and good production.

IMO it should be in about 8.8 rating.

I disagree very much with the negativity about this series.

Many kdramas have some fantasy elements in them, like in the Goblin, that's some fantasy. But to be a true fantasy drama you need a different reality, like Lord of the Rings has a different reality, Game of Thrones as well, Arthdal Chronicles has a different reality, and so does Alchemy of Souls. It's not just enough to add something like a 9 tailed fox into a drama that takes place in "our" reality.
So according to that strict definition of "fantasy", there are not many fantasy kdramas out there.

Talented actor with a rememberable look. Hope he gets a big role, perfect for bad guy turned good guy.

If you're looking for something you can watch with one eye (doing something else as well) this is perfect to have in the background. Likeable characters, simple plot, fluffy and easy and not to complex to watch meaning you can write comments like these on MDL whilst watching (which I am doing).

Last two episodes, just perfect, just perfect. Next ones, can't wait :D

One of the best kdrama I've watched ever. Season 2 here we go! :)
