I'm on episode 12, and nothing has really happened. Very boring drama. I don't know where this story is going.…
I decided to give it another chance, and finished. It's not as good as Legend of Fu Yao or Eternal Love (also featuring Yang Mi in lead role), but it's alright. This Novoland: Pearl Eclipse story is so much simpler than the other two.
I a bit confused about the ending. Maybe someone can explain it to me. How did they live?
Yea, I thought that maybe they were deities doing a trial in the mortal realm, and then died and went back to heaven from their trial. Not sure what to make of this "open ending", it's one of the longest dramas I've watched, and maybe they should have had a more clear ending. I'm not disappointed, just a little confused about it.
I'm not even half way thru, but it's a surprisingly satisfying light fluffy romance drama. Don't expect some epic drama with a complex story and stratagems and such, it's a simpler story. Just love the actors.
I guess Legend of Fuyao is the first and last of it's kind. There's vast fantasy elements, great adventure and…
Yes, it's a great epic journey, there are so many adventures the characters go on, it's a multi phased epic that makes it interesting to watch because there's always some new mission and crisis.
Finished. Awesome epic drama, the most epic drama I've watched.
It will only get better, this is the most many layered epic drama I've watched. It's awesome really. I finished it in 2 weeks and just got submerged into this story. Can't believe I finished, I miss it already.
I just love seeing Sweet 18 up there. Such an obscure drama but so much heart and fun. I've never laughed as much and felt so fluffy than watching that drama, every episode was such a joy and the lead actress just nailed it.
I'm only half way thru, and so far it's a great drama. But it's a very complicated drama with very large set of characters. It is written somewhat okay, and I feel the chemistry between the leads is just somewhat okay. Overall I'm happy with it, but it's not perfect. I will finish this drama and most likely give it a high rating, but it wouldn't be my first recommendation in this genre.
I feel the ending was too rushed, finished too quickly. Like, was her "fake mother" her real mother actually after all, she was actually the twin of the girl she pretended to be? I need to rewatch it again, because there was only like a small scene where this important thing was reveals in seemingly trivial manner. This was the whole "secret origin" story I was waiting for, but it was so rushed.
It's difficult to write a good time travel story, and this one isn't perfect. It's not only a time travel story, it's a parallel universe story, because the time travelers jump back into time in another universe.
Also the implied romantic affection between the leads has me scratching my head, because they are mother and son, that's incest. But I guess they kind of explained it off by saying: "That's not actually his mother, it's another women in a parallel universe that looks exactly like his mother."
I honestly don't know how they decided to go with that and thought the audience would like it. lol.
Overall, I found it alright to watch, but its plot and story is flawed.
I do not know why this cdrama gets such a high rating. It feels almost as enjoyable as watching the United Nations…
I did finish this, and it got better. However I did find it quite complicated, you not only have so many characters, the characters can be different persons. But it was still good to watch, the special effects are well done. It was very slow to start, I feel like they could have made the first part in only 5 episodes. I also thought the antagonists were a bit lacking. Also I found the ending to be very sudden, I thought it didn't conclude very well.
I do not know why this cdrama gets such a high rating. It feels almost as enjoyable as watching the United Nations Security Counctil debating, so many "gods" debating. Occasional heavenly fights, but overall there is little character development, and I don't care for anyone after 20 episodes.
I agree. In historical dramas you can have the lead characters with hidden identities, like a secret princess or prince, a secret origin that can have big consequences. There's a power struggle for the throne that can be interweaved into historical dramas that you can't replicate with contemporary dramas. All that re-inforces the love story being told. Compare that to contemporary love stories, usually a rich man and poor girl, and the man is a CEO or chaebol, and they fall in love, but the chairman/chairwoman can't approve of it. That's the power dynamics in contemporary love dramas usually :)
