Recently, some kdramas have started pre producing it after Netflix involvement but still not easy to change how industry works I am new to cdramas but from what I have seen, all dramas have to be pre produced because they go through censorship process (really strict and lots of restrictions). Sometimes shows never pass censorship process and remain in shelf (BL shows) and sometimes they cut out many things from the show to avoid restrictions and to get pass that's why many cdramas feel rushed at the end because of so much restrictions. Like for e. g till the end of the moon was supposed to be 70 eps but china recently made the law that dramas can't be over 40 episodes so the show ended in a disaster. Mostly xianxia genre cdramas have bad endings tbh. Guardians of the dafeng is an exception that it's last few episodes were so good otherwise majority cdramas I watched get boring in final act

I am new to cdramas so not familiar with lead actor and actress of flourished peony but looking at some clips give me the vibe that this is more dark & mature which I usually like so I am sure I will like it as long as writing is good

Many kdramas start airing while the shooting is not done from what I hear. Some like glory or other Netflix kdramas are pre produced that's why more consistent. Pre production is really expensive and they don't want to risk by making the whole show so they air the show and see if audience liking it. if a show is good then we usually get 16-20 episodes (some popular shows like sky castle was initially going to be 16 ep but they dragged it to 20 ep after it's popularity in first half) so the quality of the script is sacrificed

Hot search on weibo can be bought for marketing strategies but they don't give a drama success if viewers are less because then advertisement will be less etc. I hope I explained well. I haven't watched the show so don't think I am hater or something. Just wanted to point out that it's an underrated show rather than popular blockbuster

Okay now that I am done with GOTD, I am finally starting this. I have a feeling that I will enjoy this

if people think it's low douban score & 10+ black hot search against the show within first 10 minutes of its premiere means everyone in China dislikes it then they will come to this conclusionThe truth is that it's viewership is highest for from the start despite releasing 1 ep per day on weekdays (mon to fri). Only flourished peony beat it for 2 days but now it's back on top. Market share is also highest 20%. Ads seconds are double the amount as compare to other shows (all time all platform legendary level advertisement). if it doesn't live up to hype then why advertisers are crazy about this show? (They have all the data ). it reached 30k+ heat index, 1.1 billion playback volume and many more achievements. The audience is majority male centric which is different from usual female audience who hype their cp etc so it doesn't have that level of social media presence as compare to Flourished peony & Moonlight mystique (high engagement but not doing that well in china). However, wang hedi acting skills was trending top 1 on weibo last week and yesterday there were 8 hot searches after the end (all praising the show). In short, it started with many controversies surrounding it. Many people called wang hedi monkey or what not for his accent and not using dubbing etc. plus, criticism of his rap and comparing the show to joy also didn't help because it raised high expectations and now those people will claim that it didn't live up to expectations. Joy of life is a next level hit and I don't think makers were expecting GOTD to reach that level. All in all, it's a masterpiece for me and I am glad that so many now are loving it

It's doing exceptionally well in China. Almost at the level of GOTD viewership wise (little behind) but reception is way more positive. Douban score is highest 7.8 out of all airing shows and same with weibo opening rating 9.3. Considering that market share started with 3% and now to almost 20% is big achievement because mango tv is limited and this type of achievements is more expected from big tencent shows like currently airing GOTD
I want to try this show just because of so much positive reception in China. So far, I only watched GOTD (became my favorite), MM looks boring but this sounds like loved by many so excited to start this

Tbh his haters are just loud minority. He still has many fans who support him that's why he is still so popular. I used to think that he gets hate a lot which is true but I also noticed a lot of praises for his acting as XQA in last 1 week so yeah majority of people who are casual watchers don't care about controversies surrounding him and they still choose to watch his shows regularly

I totally get that they can't adapt everything in detail nor I expect adaptations to be 1:1 copy of source material. I am fine with them deviating as long as it doesn't ruin the story. I just don't understand the plot of killing Lord wei when it's implied he will be fine if s2 comes. Feels pointless but maybe it's a setup for something I don't know yet like XQA teaming up with witcher guy (his father) as equivalent exchange for Lord wei revival. That will be interesting but we can only speculate for now 😭
