What's important is for this drama to reach 40+ million views per ep for it to be considered hit in china by industry standard. For more context, youku platform is struggling recently with views and none of the dramas has even reached 30 million views per ep but First frost started good. The trend is looking like 35+ million if it maintains the quality and keep audience engage. Just needs to attract little bit more audience to reach that 40 million per ep milestone

Tbh most people like to know how a drama is doing in China because that's what matters the most for the industry and the actors. Cdrama industry don't care how much successful and popular a drama is internationally if it isn't successful in China (audience of millions). So far this drama is doing decent to good in china and it's still too early to criticize. I am gonna start this soon but i do think we shouldn't judge a drama based on what C-ents think and form our opinion

I am enjoying this drama but i have one minor complain that is not enough focus on all the women who are suffering under this cruel system. I get bu yinlou is not savior for everyone and she can barely save herself but it irritates me how both of these girls are exceptions who are treated better because they have their lovers to protect them but everyone else will continue to suffer. Maybe the drama isn't about changing the system but to show how helpless women of those times are and how they can never get the freedom but as I said we only see bu yinlou focus who is actually favored and not much about others so I kinda wished there was more focus on this aspect other than romance

And then after this, we will have to wait longer for his next project 💔😔

Last few episodes are more intense, serious and full of emotions. I don't want to spoil too much but dw it isn't bad. In fact, the drama peaked at the end. Ending is more of cliffhanger and we all are waiting for s2 announcement

Yess i think gotd is the highest rated cdrama of this year so far on mdl and it's not even cp focused. I thought it will reach around 8.9-8.8 so this made me happy too
