So many people on MDL and across social media are complaining about Hua Yong’s character in ABO Desire. Some…
Agreed! This show just shows once again, that people don’t want complex characters, they scream for it. But when we do have such a character in a BL series, people tend to only look what’s on the surface. And get mad, uncomfortable when they only see what they don’t like! Characters like for example Yotha (P10L), Vegas (KinnPorsche), Jaemin (Secret Relationship), Boston (Only Friends), hell even Day (Love Syndrome 3) tend to have a complex background, these characters you can’t just judge on what you see, you need to look deeper. Is Hua problematic, sure. Personally I see it like how some people like to read Dark Romance books, do we want these behaviors in real life, no. But in fiction it’s safe to enjoy. For me, Hua Yong is what makes this series exciting. Watching the trailer I knew what to expect, reading the novel, made me realize what’s to come. From the beginning this series was going to have characters that are toxic, flawed. All 4 of them have their reasons as to why they behave like that, nobody is perfect here. Not even Gao Tu, even though people are trying very hard to justify his actions and behaviors.
Sorry but what do you mean forced "straight" story? You mean they should only have bl couples - or was…
There was no straight couple in the webtoon, they were just friends nothing more. The webtoon consisted of 2 gay couples, the main couple and the second couple was a side story.
We really opened the door for the haters in the name of "i have the right to tell my opnion "
And they do have the right to tell their opinion, but that opinion can still be shared by being respectful, both in their description of the series and talking to other people. Some seem to have lost the part about being respectful towards others.
Hell I’ve had very heated discussions in the P10L or When It Rains It Poors mdl pages , yet we were all still respectful and civil for each others opinions. Discussions were done with elaborated arguments about why somebody felt a certain way. I’m not saying people shouldn’t be sharing their opinions, it just would be nice to see less negativity.
You know, before I would watch an episode of a BL series, then go the MDL and read other peoples opinions, what scenes they liked, if they noticed the same details as me, titbits being shared, things that could be better, theories about why somebody would behave a certain way, etc.
But with this series it’s almost every single week the same, it’s constant arguments about which couple is better, which couple deserves more screening time, statements about not liking one or the other couple, hating this or that character, one episode per week not being enough, etc.
This page just consist almost entirely on negativity, can we stop already? Asking for more screeningtime will not happen, the series has been filmed, it’s been edited, they are not going to film more scenes. The team is following the novel and have been very consistent in it, thats a fact. We will just have to accept the way this series is, some might be disappointed or dissatisfied by it, but thats just the way this series is.
Having said that, can we put a pin in it, these constant arguments make me not want to read the comment section anymore!
You are right, but the scale is different. No way in hell is Gao Tus lying comparable to Hua Yong's. Also, Gao…
If you think Hua could just approach Sheng by being an Enigma, then you don’t understand Sheng or Hua.
To me none are less bad or less good, both are lying. And for me a lie is a lie. Even with the best intentions people still can get hurt. Both Hua and Gao Tu are doing what they think is right for them.
Seriously, they make me not want to read these comments. Constant complaining about the second couple not having…
I do get that and i do agree that it’s been somewhat promoted as both couples having equal screeningtims. But we are 8 episodes in, every single week people have been saying that Gao Tu and Shen don’t have many scenes in the novel. Maybe at some point, you need to adjust your expectations, otherwise you are just going to be disappointed!
SOME fans of the 2nd couple are really insufferable 😕😕
Seriously, they make me not want to read these comments. Constant complaining about the second couple not having enough scenes. The team is following the novel, the second couple had not many moments between them, only towards the end of the book!
I honestly don't get people saying the second couple is more interesting than the main. And frankly I don't want…
Louder!!! Second couple to me are the same damsel in distress storylines we already had in so many other series. I don’t mind them, but they don’t excite nor really interested me. I’m living for the main couple, they are absolutely mesmerizing, new, fresh and mysterious. I like the fact that they are (probably) equally matched in strength, Sheng can hold his own, Hua is probably stronger, but by no means is Sheng weak.
To me this series is just pure fiction, I’m loving the manipulative king that is Hua. I have no problems taking this series with a grain of salt. I like how he handles Sheng, he has a target and is absolutely doing everything he can to reach that target.
Dropped after the 3th episode. FL is quite frankly a bitch. She overheard something and made assumptions based on that, not to mention the absolute stalkerish behavior she showed towards the ML. I don’t care about her dating history, but saying to a girl in a nutshell, just cheat, because men do it too, is in my opinion not cool.
If people want a good coming of age series, watch Smells Like Green Spirit. It’s a Japanese series, 8 episodes, 30 minutes per episode. Don’t watch Heesu in Class, it’s a straight washed series, with barely any BL elements! Honestly it’s a joke to call this a BL!
Smells like Greem Spirit dares (like a lot of other Japanese series) to be as realistic as possible, it hits taboo subjects. The series is set in the 90s. Give it a try, it will give you more satisfaction, then this ridiculous series!
As much as I loved the series, I think China should stop making BL altogether until the ban is lifted. The whole…
If nobody is challenging that ridiculous censorship, nothing is ever going to be changed! Stop making BL series will result in the censorship being nicely in place where it is! Oppression doesnt get lifted by staying oppressed, it’s gets lifted by rebellion, by not standing down!
I honestly didn’t mind how it ended. I really liked it, CC and Wei together cuddling on the bed, warm, full of love, safe and happy, with a beautiful future in front of them!
This series didnt need nc scenes to feel the love, it was all there. The chemistry between Tian and Zi Yu made up for a lot of it, as did the BTS scenes. Would I have liked to see them kiss, sure. But half way through the series it became clear that, that wouldn’t happen, probably to protect the actors. So I adjusted my expectations for this series.
I rather have a series that is finished, where the actors still have careers to go back to. Then have an unfinished series full of nc scenes and actors who are being cancelled because of the censorship. Yes the series could be aired internationally and with that it didn’t fall under the censorship, but those actors are still Chinese.
I liked it, it wasnt super good, but a fun series to watch on a rainy day. Only things I didn’t like with the storyline was that Ha-Ri never stands up for herself! Not when those awful friends mocked her for having a boyfriend. And not when that insecure girl posted that BS about her two timing the director and best friend. I wished she would’ve just told those people off, the fact that that girl didn’t even have the nerve to apologize after all that slender, was disgusting.
And the part where the parents of Ha-Ri and the grandfather never meet each other, I think that would’ve been hilarious, the older people enjoying the soap series together.
