The show is based on a novel, which also has an extra/sequel, which the special episode will be based on too. Yes, it probably is a current trend among dramas and web novelists, but it didn't just come out of nowhere. It's just to give the fans some extra follow-up content; if you felt you'd had enough by the series end, then you don't need to watch the special, it's not for you (and that's ok). The series is narratively complete by itself, but many fans want to see their ship more; that's who the special is for.

I'm not sure why this show is getting burned at the stake, I mean I'm only halfway through - but I'm also halfway through and, while it may be a little lacklustre, I thought it was fairly decent overall. I'm not sure why the description says "as unexpected feelings ignite between them" like they haven't been mutually in love for 8 years already.
Honestly one thing that stuck out more than the bodyguards in stilettos was the fact that the apparent solution for a girl who can faint and end up bedridden after running laps around the school track due to her weak physique is to become a professional dancer ^^" like a full on national idol level talent ^^" yes that mild and not-at-all physically demanding job that requires multiple hours of intensive full body exercise every day. I feel like the scriptwriter has never even seen someone dancing in person, let alone danced themselves ^^"

He literally hired men to stand at her door and confine her while taking all her communication devices, what's she gonna do, say pretty please? Even with the ability to contact others, she still loves her dad, and it's pretty clear from the way she doesn't immediately run away with Tawan at the first opportunity that they both view this as a domestic dispute, if you will, so she's not going to call the police on him. More than anything she wants her father to accept Tawan, not just secretly elope.

I know this is loved for its mental health side, plus of course the usual romance/drama - but does anyone have any recommendations for dramas with a similar creepy narrative vibe, cause I really loved the Burtonesque animations and the macabre children's stories. There probably isn't anything quite as well done as this in that regard, considering they actually put the books to print after, but this can't be the only good drama that feels like it could have taken inspiration from A Series of Unfortunate Events right?

This drama died for me in the 5th episode. Like he tells his employee she doesn't suit nice clothes, calls her easy and accuses her of being distracted by men and looking to hit on clients - but it's okay because he didn't know it was her mother's anniversary?? Wth? In what scenario is that okay? I literally cannot ship them after that, but the instant ML shows her the slightest bit of decency, O Sol is completely sympathetic like nothing ever happened, and then next thing you know, all of a suddenly she's into him because he showed interest in her. Sorry, what? Literally no other reason than she liked her last crush, and it was only the last episode where she's all "I'm so past that regretful phase of my life, not doing that again". Smh.
The acting was fine, but this script was awful; the inappropriate comments are followed by an avalanche of cliches, and chemistry is nonexistent. Not to mention, we keep being told that Neville Longbottom is super handsome and dreamy, which is even worse, when Yoo Jung, our FL, is being treated like a literal booger by practically the entire cast except the secondary love interest. And when you realise their age gap things just get icky (Yoo Jung is 19 - 19 - in this drama).

I don't think they'll do the webtoon's visual contrast of Jugyeong with and without makeup quite justice, but I'm still looking forward to this anyway. Congrats to the author on the adaptation! ^^

It's my first time seeing her in Backstreet Rookie, but she's so crazy beautiful I feel like I need to take a moment every times on screen ^^ I think she embodied the character of Saet Byul really well, hope she does some more badass roles in the future ^^

Funny you should say that, because Kate Royal is basically her caucasian doppelganger (fyi: Kate Royal is a British opera singer, you can see her in Glyndebourne's Der Rosenkavalier, or, I believe, The Rose Knight) It took me nearly the full three hours of opera to figure out where I'd seen her face before.

They need to stop with this dysfunctional timeline thing, seriously. It'd be one thing if they were obvious about time switches, but it literally just feels like they shuffled the scenes on the storyboard and added a few duplicates/

The over-the-top editing style is definitely intentional though, although I can understand it not being to some people's tastes, or requiring a certain mood to enjoy, and no doubt they expected to lose a few viewers due to their unconventional methods. Maybe try watching again later without comparing it/ expecting the style of FP + WWW (I haven't watched them myself yet, so don't have cause for bias myself, and really enjoyed the humorous touch the eccentric style adds to the series.)
I like it a lot when something makes me imagine how much fun its creators had making it just by watching it. I couldn't help thinking while watching that the editors must have had a good time putting this show together; coming up with creative ideas to give it a wacky edge. It reminds me of the vibes I got from the animation in Spider-Man, where they practically reinvented their medium to add character to the film (although not on that level of course).

It's a good feeling to receive. It's definitely something I'm charmed by at least.
