I just tore through the first 6 episodes of this totally excellent drama, it's incredible. The acting is first class, the director doesn't leave the actors floundering and the writer conjures captivating situations and dialogue. Really impressed with Moon Ga-young, she's transcended from likeable to virtuoso in this role, it's one of those productions where the whole cast enters a slipstream and effortlessly give their absolute best. 10/10. Quality from JTBC and Netflix. Can't wait for tomorrow!
The unreasonable hate comments this drama attracts because it's popular and fans of other actors are jealous their…
There aren't any 'hate' comments, some posted critical views, myself included. It's not 'hate', that's just another stupid sns term invented by kids with small vocabularies. A few users dwell on critical views and simply can't accept them - another modern sns phenomenon: shut down all opposing views, preferably with an organised gang of flying monkeys.
How about not watching rather than spending your energy to spread negativity?
Thanks, about 25% of my comments are satirical, I can't stop myself sometimes, the rest are typical fan comments. I managed to stop myself with Curtain Call, rated it 10 and ignored its flaws completely, for personal reasons. Tbh I regret what I said about this - I'm glad Amazon supported the drama after the casting problems; I like Amazon much more than Disney and Apple, so I shouldn't criticise. Their subtitles are excellent too, better than Viki in that regard, although they still make strange encoding choices (international text, should be utf-8) in their Android app. Saying that, I won't delete my comments since they've got replies now, and I still believe they're a fair assessment of the first 5 minutes.
is it under another name on Amaozn Prime? can't find it
"Island Season 1" Island is too generic a title on its own I suppose. Google TV has it listed as "Ireland (2004)" a completely different k-drama apparently starring both Hyun Bin and Kim Nam-gil. Lol! Google's artificial intelligence is a nightmare when it f**ks up!

The first few minutes tell me a lot about a show, alarm bells started ringing, I thought it was allowed to express my view here, sorry about that. I should have added something positive too - here goes.... it's definitely a good choice of genre with potential and I like the cast. Also perhaps I could have toned down words like 'annoying' with 'frustrating'. When I watch the rest I look forward to learning about how the demons' magic works... so far I see that statues sink into holes in the ground and turn into smoke, a person breathes the smoke and turns into a slug somehow, the slug can be either squished or not squished, it turns back into a physical form (somehow) resembling the original hosts but with blue skin and sticks poking out... then says boo to people... looks good! I'm more a fan of subtlety and suspense I guess.

Sorry, I'm going to refute your "entire" comment... I did use "nobody likes", it's called hyperbole - I expect the reader to recognise that - your focus on one phrase (style) is what's known as a straw man argument. And surely I only criticised the first five minutes? I made it clear I wasn't talking about "the entire show" or "all aspects" of it... how did you come to that bonkers conclusion? (I'm asking a rhetorical question, I expect you to recognise that, no need to answer.)
I just watched a few minutes... Island is going to be annoying. I saw a confused, foreign goth girl in a Halloween costume chained to a bed - not in the slightest bit frightening. Since she can't act, the least they could have done was put her in her underwear to add an edge to handsome-yet-blasé priest Cha Eun-woo's energetic exorcism ritual. I also saw a ridiculous pantomime scene where a photographer starts rummaging around his equipment, muttering to himself for ages whilst his clients are clearly facing an issue, then just as it's resolved he looks up and says "what just happened?"... nobody likes idiots like him or scenarios that indulge such idiots - the absurdities of Sisyphus The Myth flashed before my eyes (and pro wrestling matches where the ref always finds a reason to distract himself during instances of foul play). Seo Ye-ji must be amused - did all the funding dry up when she dropped out? It sure looks underfunded. Horror value: total zero. I'll watch the rest when all episodes are out, just to see how Lee Da-hee and Kim Nam-gil battle their way through. Only pressed play because Google TV told me it was Ireland (2004) but took me to Island (2022) instead - probably the bigger source of my disappointment which started me off on the wrong foot!
Who's got time to watch the same show drag on for 5 tedious years without even knowing how many more years they'll…
Err... I don't, for the reasons I stated. Your comment's obtuse. You don't need to compare two things to like one of them. The "original one" is called Juana la Virgen - what did you think of it? Oh... you don't know? Did you dare watch World of the Married without also watching Doctor Foster first? Ever judged West Side Story without seeing Romeo and Juliet?
I'm happy you enjoyed Jane the Virgin, well done to you for knowing about it, you're great... why don't you find a nice page dedicated to it and write some nice comments about how much you enjoyed it rather than using it as leverage for your simple, dogmatic statements... Do you have anything constructive to support your view? I don't see any thought in your shallow comments.
Agree, I'll wait for s2 to come out before starting. Like most of the latest stuff on Netflix and Prime. Never watch unless it's finished... or a proper SK network drama.
Who's got time to watch the same show drag on for 5 tedious years without even knowing how many more years they'll try and hold you hostage? Thank you South Korea, great show, all in one, brilliant! I only watch SK dramas. Ok, a few from Japan too... one or two from Indonesia and Taiwan.
Disappointing question - you're one of two things: a bot or an idiot.
Oops, sorry! I really thought you were a bot. But why request spoilers? You must know My Mister is one of the highest regarded k-dramas and it's won prizes. Give it 2 episodes, then decide if you like it.
The title bothers me. What's the point in mentioning K-drama actors when it's a Korean drama award show? Did they…
Such a smart arse. Are all social media comments written by narcissists? Well, since you're so great, let's have your title. Write down the perfect headline - and remember... not all readers know what SBS is; MDL articles make their way into Google News feeds and others. I expect you're afraid - when you're done you might receive some of your own medicine and narcissists hate that.
sorry but did these people actually watch woori the virgin? who on earth would nominate it in several categories…
I would, it was excellent. It's clearly not for everyone, you know, kids wouldn't get it, and the catholic haters just hate stuff that has a catholic in it. Which are you?

Luckily he's handsome, good luck to him.
I like the author's title more. It provides more context when included in external news feeds.
You don't win the prize.
