That not who Xiao Qiao is. It was very clearly shown in Ep30 that she is not capable of being selfish and decisive like her cousin to throw everything away for a person's sake. Also, she has always considered herself as she belongs to both families. It was very apparent in one of her lines that said "I'm a member of Wei family, and also a Qiao woman at the same time". She never abandoned her natal family.

If she did so right after Ep30, she would be so out of character. And that would actually be called bad writing in regards to all these build ups and developments up until now.

Furthermore, in Xiao Qiao's life up until now, her family comes first. Even marrying Wei Shao was for her family's sake, which is literally jumping into a lion's den. Now, she fully considers Wei Shao the same. It would have been unimaginable a year ago when they just got married. They came a long way from there. And she can love both equally, there's nothing wrong with that.

Also, SZE cries so beautifully. My heart just melts.. 😍😍

The changes the drama made are pretty okay, and some are tasteful even. It's one of the better adaptations out there for sure. I like both the novel and drama.

Normally, Langya army shouldn't arrive to those cities this fast, definitely not with this size of an army. It was only possible because they took advantage of the tunnel Bi Zhi dug upon Xiao Qiao's command.

And, Langya opend multiple battle fronts at once, both to the Wei state and Yanzhou. Yanzhou literally do not have any semblence of decent military force, so all those battle fronts fall upon Wei Shao's shoulder. That's why they were so desperate.

Not sure I would make it to day 0, because with all those schemes flying around and if my mother turns out to be a potato, that really could be the case...

The drama should do justice to that battle, one of the peak moment of the story really.

I'm really afraid about it when the drama finally airs and they freaking tone down everything that makes the story epic. lol

I can live with the Prisoner of Beauty having less battle scenes, but definitely not for LoFG.

My favorite dialogue today (probaby the whole drama so far)

Manaman: "Even cousin protects Bi Zhi out of selfishness. I made his lordship fight for me. What am I doing?"

With SZE's excellent delivery, those dialogues broke me. 😭😭😭

Definitely! I really couldn't bring myself to hate Da Qiao's decision at all. She was just being resolute in protecting what is hers.

Xiao Qiao and Da Qiao are cousins. Their fathers are blood brothers. The lady we often seen in Qiao family scenes is Da Qiao's mother, and Xiao Qiao's aunt.

This might be an unpopular opinion. But I actually really liked the whole scene between Xiao Qiao and Da Qiao.

It just shows the stark difference between the two women's thoughts and priorities at that moment. And it also highlighted how much Manman was weighed down by the responsibility for her natal family the entire time that she forgot to be selfish for herself for once. Of course, getting her to realize this opens up to her character growth. Stellar dialogue the whole scene really.

Manman's bio dad is alive. He's the thinner guy we often see during Qiao family scenes.

Manman's mom is already dead. Her aunt raised Manman just like her own daughter.

lol, I've become so used to her playing snake characters.

When this drama started, I was llke "Oh, she's playing Da Qiao, she got a good guy character for once".

But the script says "No!". She gotta have a least one of her signature stuffs in. xD

The narrative is totally different though. In the novel, Manman doesn't even know Wei Shao was chasing her. She was on a trip back to Yanzhou, and then visited Boya on her return trip since it's along the way. Wei Shao simply traced her path and chased her because the river was about to freeze since they are entering the winter, and he was worried about her as once the river was frozen, they can't get back to Wei state for months.

I'm sure drama will use a similar narrative. It's not about Wei Shao chasing Manman across the country to grovel in front of Manman. It's gonna be something like both are looking out for each other in their own way and crossed path in the middle.

And both of them were sooo looking forward to it the whole day. The build up.. ahhh

The make out scene was fire. I'm totally okay with what we got in ep29. haha

It's quite different from the novel. The parties involved, the circumstances, the military movements.. everything is different from the novel.

But, Ep31 sorta is the same as the novel again.

In the novel, Wei Yan was the son of a Xiongnu prince (it's a foreign border tribe. not Bianzhou like in the drama). Major events were the same as in the drama so far.

Wei Yan left Wei state for Xiongnu in the end. But, despite the Central Plains and Xiongnu being enemies, Wei Yan never harmed the Wei family for his bonds and gratitudes toward them.
