If I'm as emotionally scarred as Wen Yi Fan, my response to these situations would be similar if not the same imo.

I don't know about others but, at least for me, it is not that easy to open up yourself completely just because someone likes you..

They are entirely different kind of dramas. Hidden Love is about youth romance and got more fluff. The First Frost is more melancholic, slow burn, and romance is more mature. It also touches on a lot of heavy subjects unlike youth romance usually is.

So, it basically comes down to one's preference. For me, I like them both for what they are. If I absolutely have to pick one, I generally prefer slow burn with good story so I would choose The First Frost.

This is my first ZRN drama. Instantly became a fan since Ep1. Love her WFY a lot!

It takes place AFTER they became a couple. FL's scumbag family try to entangle with her, and one thing leads to another and ML found out about those things bit by bit. That's the gist of it.

If you have watched Hidden Love before, it was even mentioned there. Sang Yan told Sang Zhi that there is a girl chasing him. The girl mentioned there was Wen Yi Fan.

I'm so looking forward to the courting phase. It was so cute in the novel, how she gradually accepts her feelings toward Sang Yan and set her mind to just chase him.

And with the acting performance we are seeing in the drama so far, especially ep15's Wen Yi Fan, my expectation for it becomes even higher. 😍

Awwn.. Wen Yifan in ep15 is just too cute, omg. Secretly being happy that Sang Yan sat down to eat dinner with her, and awkwardly trying to flirt and failing it beautifully. Dating era gonna be beautiful y'all!

Yifan's defence and coping mechanism is to stay detach from everything and everyone, to prevent herself from getting hurt. And the way she sees herself is that she doesn't deserve good things.

In the drama, Yifan expressed multiple times that Sang Yan is too good and she doesn't deserve someone that good. He's better off without someone like her who'll weigh him down, burden him, and hurt him.

So, for someone like her, I think it's natural for her to think along the line of her defence mechanism first and foremost despite the apparent evidences which might be visible to third parties.

The whole courting process was just so cute really. Sang Yan knowingly let Wen Yifan chase after him, because he knows that only when WYF opens up first from her end that their relationship can proceed to the next step.

WYF's thought process and internal dialogue toward revelation about her affection for Sang Yan and how she decided to start courting him was just so endearing.

She stays with reporter job because she starts to enjoy working as she started to learn how to enjoy her life together with Sang Yan, no longer treating work as just a mean to survive. And, it was hinted that she'll pick up dancing as her hobby from time to time as well.

Whenever I see those kind of comments, I just assume they are not the target audience of this kind of content.

For me, I love slow burn with gradual and meaningful build up of story and characters. For this drama, it would be a shitty story if a person with severe PTSD was cured and fall in love with the love interest within like 5 episodes.

It's good to know the references to another drama, but not mandatory to watch Hidden Love first. You can watch both of them in any order. They do not share the main plot.

She's the same as in the novel. Also, in the drama, she's very clear about what she likes/dislikes, her boundaries, and not afraid to stand up or speak out for herself when wronged. She's very decisive regarding that. I would call that being 'strong', as even people with better mental state than her in real life have difficulties doing so.

To add to that, her nickname comes from "Shuangjiang = Frost's Descent" from the 24 solar term. She was born on that day, hence her father gave her that nickname, apparently in late Oct to early Nov.
