Some I can think of with a powerful general ML, a powerful (or smart?) FL, and no fantasy are the following:The…
I would like to add some more. All of these got ML in powerful position and FL is either also in powerful position, very strong, or smart, with no fantasy elements in the story.
Are You the One Wonderland of Love Under the Power The Long Ballad
Same here I watched it for Meng Zi Yi drama, and it completely blew my mind.
Same case as me. I liked Meng Ziyi (her Hua Liu Li was just legendary) and the synopsis sounded interesting, so decided to give it a try.
For Li Yunrui, I've only seen him in LLTG before, and my most vivid impression of him was 'an annoying SML'. I'm so glad for him that he's pulling off his role in this drama this well and exceeding everyone's expectations.
The age of the half-sister is a bit off. Wasn't the FL around 10 yrs when the stepmom was pregnant? Not sure what…
After time skip, it was mentioned that they are 7 years apart where FL is 23 and her sister being 16.
They didn't specify young FL's age when her stepmom was pregnant. The actress that played young FL didn't look 6-7 years old to me as well. But, not a biggie I guess.
I’ve seen some gifs of future scenes and my god - super steamy kiss and bed scenes coming!!!!!!
Ikr!!!
I actually picked this drama up solely based on the synopsis, and watched the trailers only after I actually started the drama. Both leads are freaking delivering and we gonna be eating good with this one for sure!!!
Ep 7. I went in with zero expectation, and now I'm freaking sold on this drama. It's really well written and executed so far. The serious scenes definitely delivers as well.
The gazes and tension between ML and FL are this captivating even with these few initial encounters. I can't imagine how it's gonna turn out when they finally get together and fall for each other. I had my doubts about this CP pairing initially, now I'm fully onboard with this CP.
It took me a bit of effort to grit through the frustrations from all those misunderstanding plots. But, everything was worth it at the end. A very good drama if you can handle the earlier parts.
It's really good. It's been a while I laughed this hard watching a drama. It's cute, funny, and interesting at the same time. Esther Yu is killing her role here.
Absolutely enjoyed this drama. Such an easy and pleasant watch. Really loved how the leads' relationship develop through the course of the story. Current rating doesn't do this drama justice.
The Story of Minglan is like the gold standard of its genre. It's very slow so might be difficult to pick up if you are not used to that type of drama. But, it's really good.
Maybe it’s an unpopular opinion, but I actually appreciate when the romance in a drama develops later in the…
My favorite dramas include The Story of Minglan, The Sword and the Brocade, Love Like the Galaxy, etc., which are super slow burn. So, I'm on the same boat as you lol. It's just very enjoyable to watch the slow build up of romance between the leads.
I loved many things about this drama, especially the leads and a couple support characters. The romance was great too.
But the villains... omg why can they be characterized this shallow. Numbers doesn't necessarily equal quality especially in this case. Some villains were just purely insufferable and exist for a single purpose throughout the story, like Liu Cheng Feng who exists solely to kidnap FL. The only one I can probably get behind is Sun Jing because his existence actually felt like a mountain to overcome for both ML and FL's goals. Personally, I might have enjoyed this drama a lot more without these constant kidnapping and last minute villains whose existence is just for a single plot device.
regardless of the drama, WHAT is up with those music choices?? a good drama can easily be ruined with questionable…
I quite liked the bgm here. It adds a touch of seriousness contrast to what is being shown on screen. I find it fitting for the premise of this drama so far.
Been avoiding this for the low rating for quite a long time. But, I actually quite enjoyed it when I ended up watching it. It was a good watch. The story by all means is not perfect but not draggy so kept me engaged thoroughly. Definitely encourage to give it a try for the first couple episodes if you are on the fence like me.
I was initially hesitant to pick this series up due to the relatively low rating. But I'm glad I picked it up. It was so good that I binged it within 2 days. The characters are very well written that I ended up liking every single couple in the story, and rooting for each and everyone. Even the main villain is one of the most interesting antagonist characters I've ever seen in kdramas.
Really recommend to give this show a chance if you are on the same boat as I was.
