ikr... Yan He's death in the novel hit me so hard. His dying process was so gradual and heartbreaking that it was like being chocked slowly. And Xia Chengxiu's extra story left me with snot and tears. Yan He was such a bro and he was written so well despite the limited appearance.
In the drama, it was like the death of a no name foot soilder. If you are not going to do it well, why not let him live... I was even thinking that Yan He might live in the drama given the direction of the script, and yet they just had to cram this one in.
That Chu Zhao's crap was soooo unnecessary. Why not allocate that screen time to the final military campaign or something more relevant to the story... what we got was so rushed that there was no angst at all with the final battle. There was no build up to the side characters so there was no sense of loss either when it happens.. I was like "oh, this one bite the dust"... and that's it.
The amount of frustration towards the script was palpable. I'm not even comparing with the source material for this comment. This drama could have been so much more, but alas it is what it is.

Visually very gorgeous, one of the best productions in recent dramas. Story is light and enjoyable so far. The whole drama gives off ghostly and eerie vibe, and personally like it a lot.
ML is serious and upright with a tint of innocent personality. FL is flirtatious, carefree, and domineering noona type. I'm sold on their dynamics. We don't see these very often.
So far, there's not much angst, but the main plot seems to be picking up in pace with tomorrow's episodes. So, there may be some angst there I guess. For me, this drama is a no skip, no fastforward one, and each episode was over in the blink of an eye.

On the other end of the spectrum, there are groups of people who want the leads to get together in ep2 and have a baby by ep5. Joke aside, at the least what I see most often is comments of a drama being 'not fast enough', not 'not slow enough'... I like both kinds as long as the story is solid though.

I would say ML here is not that extreme. Plus, it's actually quite endearing to see him all shy and innocent sometimes.
