Watched. His yearning was a bit different though... we knew he felt it because of their history, but because she had disappointed him, his pursuit wasn't as earnest/expressive the second time around...
Coming from ‘ONE31’, very much a Thai ‘lakhon/lakorn’ soap opera/melodrama production channel, this BL…
it's just weird that it's mostly coming from the Thorn's character... but since I've seen Pond deliver well in other shows, i assumed it's his interpretation of a lakhorn overzealous idiot... if everyone was doing that, it would work better. Now it looks like lopsided dramatics.
yeah I had more expectations, though it feels like a plot issue, there are so many series that by this episode…
Exactly... just crumbs everywhere:
- what does this powerful family actually do to be targeted so often? Are they RE developers or underworld dealers or both? Why is that still unclesr by ep5?
- why is the omega knowledgable about self defense, but not about ABO?
- what role do the GL couple actually play in the overall arch?
- yea baby bro is jealous and not a true alpha like his borothers but so what? Where is his angst leading?
- is the new omega friend a real plot driver or just there for any "ride"
- we recently learned daddy alpha is hoping for an enigma descendent, lovely, is that his only issue? Would be a waste of all the cold acting if he isn't also some type of trafficker, he's been giving that vibe but again, no proper story telling to clue us into his world beyond "powerful & reputation driven"
They could have cut half the cafe scenes to give us more story, but i guess it costs more to show us vs. telling us.
A lot of people came out of this episode angry, confused, and deeply sad. I cried right along with everyone.Episode…
Even though i haven't seen the full episode, the spoiler scenes on twitter were enough to devastate me.
Just 9 hours ago i was hoping for something different and commented about it... this level of "realism".... not surprising from this production team, but still... can there really be no beauty in a relationship developing after so much strain to even get started? Is that not story enough? Must you nip it in the bud to leave a ragged scar?? Is a beautiful redemption truly not story enough? Must he end where he sought peace? I'm gutted. I'm disappointed. I know it's their story to tell, and this ending is more emotive/poetic, in keeping with their themes, but stillllll 😭 Let it be hard, why make it hopeless 😭😭 Xu ge....💔
Sigh. Maybe getting all my upset out now will help me see the warmth you describe when i do sit to watch the whole thing.
I haven't watched ep13, just the secondhand reactions to it on Twitter and a few spoiler comments here.
I'm grategul for the users of spoiler tags - letting people choose if they'd like to know core plot points before experiencing it themselves.
I'm the type to click because i don't mind a diluted experience if it also helps me brace myself for triggers, but that's not every watcher and we should respect everyone's right to choose.
Speaking of choice, seems like another catchup binge will be how i finish this show.
Is it just me that expected more from the series? 😕 So many months of anticipation after the trailer and they ended up with too much unnecessary dialogue and nc’s that don’t really deliver as well as the actors' prior works, which is odd since this is ABOverse,,,
Seriously… why are they taking so long to connect a meaningful story? Bunch of crumbs all over the place but nothing tasty enough to warrant waiting this long for the meal.
The main lead’s chemistry has earned its PHD, so I keep watching despite other annoyances (like set design that didn’t fully consider the period/era of the story 🙄, or over-acting ).
I've just watched the scene in episode 12 where Han Lu sleeps with an important guy. What really happened to make…
Yes, he’s the talent manager or assistant. The investor would have wanted to sleep with HL anyway as repayment, but possibly HL could deflect and he’d keep trying with other opportunities. Making a scene just added more targets/pressure that the investor could use to blackmail him into it, or directly deal with them out of vindictive jealousy if he’s not getting his way.
The investor even acknowledges this when they get to the hotel room, before telling him to shower. 🤢
I've just watched the scene in episode 12 where Han Lu sleeps with an important guy. What really happened to make…
Seems like HL’s manager eagerly booked the solo magazine shoot without realizing it wasn’t arranged by the company, but by the investor that’s interested in him. That made it a quid pro quo situation, meaning he’s already reaped benefits from the investor that arranged the shoot, probably can’t afford penalty for backing out, and the investor would have a “reason” to blacklist him if he doesn’t return the favor in some way. That’s why you avoid the favors in the first place.
Looks like the investor was there during the shoot while the manager was running his mouth about his co-star QHY’s attempted courtship. Fast forward, shoot is done, investor wants to see HL, here comes QHY making a scene and drawing attention to himself as a potential distraction or reason why HL is saying no - Mr. Investor seems ready to get rid of all obstacles to his goal, whether it’s making things difficult for the company or ruining QHY. HL sacrifices himself hoping to keep the investor from harming others to get to him, basically decides to give in earlier since he can’t afford to make an enemy of the investor. He’s probably also hoping that the novelty would wear off after giving in and the investor would lose interest.
Episode twelve felt so short. But short in that way where every second hits harder. The whole thing is soaked…
This further translation of the episode title is deeply appreciated and your analysis shows just how intentional the production team has been about their story weaving…. Thank you!
I love this show. This is the only series where 55mins feels like enough weekly because of what they do with it-…
FQT’s story has really tugged at me… we saw the end of ep12 coming from the start, and the actor was brilliant in showing us the emotional rollercoaster of suspecting, confirming, and isolated grieving, then quickly adjusting to current circumstances of shared room and worried brother. It’s devastating, but is it also a relief to end the 3yr limbo? Have the mountains healed him enough to carry memories and manage regrets? The interview during the documentary gives me hope that he will live on… and also notice the love that has patiently waited for him. And can I just say… I’m sensitive to anything that can give grooming vibes… so XWS’s style of waiting has to be commended. Seemed a bit iffy at first but when you consider their ages and the intensity of FQT’s first love experience…. It’s the best “respectfully and platonically wait while staying right by your side and supporting you through difficulties” scenario. KWS is more calculative than his father credits.
I love this show. This is the only series where 55mins feels like enough weekly because of what they do with it- manage to sink you deep into their world with the most beautiful storytelling, even into the credits and post credits scenes. Yet you’re still wanting more because you don’t want to leave! How can it be so deliciously raw and yet poetically refined? The production team has cast a spell with this one, it’s actually a mindF how they’re doing this…
Every character is multifaceted, I’m enjoying watching them unfold. XCY specifically … he is exquisite. Brilliance, intentionality and spoken desire (flirtatious innuendos) are my personal trifecta, then they add a service kink and wrap it all up in an attractive package….🤤 Even as a romance junkie, I’ve never had a thing for fictional leads, maybe because my irl partner is pretty awesome,.. so I like them for their fictional partners, I don’t really personify their situation. XCY would have been the exception but luckily he’s too young for me to complete that thought 😅
Thanks to spoilers, I decided to wait and do a catchup binge of ep 9-12 tonight, my heart couldn’t take a wait in the midst of angst…best decision!, I will be watching ep13 in a few hours, ready for Xu ge to show more of his real interest 🤭
I was bracing myself for intense toxicity, but it's not actually that.... at least compared to other shows this year. It's not healthy green flags either though, so viewers beware... this is one of those "grey area consent" shows and i don't see that in the tags.
They actually did a good job depicting a Dom/sub couple, don't think I've seen one in BL before (yes, it's different from usual top/bot characterization)... the service driven sub is acted so well i had to keep reminding myself not to judge his actions... to each their own pursuit of joint happiness i guess... let there be soup! 😅
His family though? 🤬 I'm watching & I'm judging.
Just watched ep1-8 knowing ep9 drops in <24h. It's not a bad stopping point, might wait for series finale before catching up in another binge... don't feel like being annoyed by ridiculously entitled family members for weeks.
On episode 7, and just here to report that the plot was long lost. I definitely would have dropped along the way if i was watching while it aired, but not having to wait is enough to motivate me to complete it, with a lot of fast forwarding.
They're trying to tell too many complex stories in 8 episodes. Would have done better with focusing on the MLs relationship growth and telling that story well.
Watching episode 4 and I’m just wondering why they didn’t consult with actual professionals before whatever that deal offering scene was supposed to be…. Forget the over- acting for a sec, they’re just throwing out buzz words without actually saying anything sensible. - irritated professional.

enough to make me cautiously optimistic. Well played.

These Xu boys love deep, hard and long.
