2025 really was the year of toxic BLs...Oh well. Here I am watching yet another one...
I know they don't have the same concerns as a hetero reproductive couple, and there's still places in the world where cousins even marry... objectively I can compartmentalize this... but it did make me delay watching this for a while…
I generally don’t like dropping what I’ve started, so I saw it through to the end, but I’m not sure what I just watched… The leads were intimately cute in the last two episodes, I’ll give them that. But seriously, why was this made? And what would another season be building on?
They wrapped the story up beautifully; no complaints, only praise for the cast and production team. I'll most likely re-watch this to catch acting and scene nuances I might have missed while trying to watch, listen & read CC at the same time.
I plan to read the novel now that it's over. I find that i enjoy watching then reading - less expectations disappointed. Rather I'll get to experience their world for a while longer.
Well... this series was a real rollercoaster ride of the art of manipulation, of letting go... of growth... of…
Exacrly this - copy & paste. Even by ep14 i couldn't really say i was rooting for them (though i definitely enjoyed watching their push & pull), but ep15 helped me get there.
Fair enough. I too struggled to get past the first epiaode for months, when i finally got into it, i thought it was worth it. Hope you've found something else to enjoy :)
I haven't read the novel(s?) I've been distressed about FX, the sociopathic busybody/stalker disguised as an obsessed love interest, so i took a break before binging ep 8 to ep 14. They portrayed the extreme feelings so well...omg. Fabulous storytelling! Though somewhere in there was an unexplained time jump... I was surprised by tian tian's age.
I love that they took a realistic approach to YSL's reaction, because honestly, as an adult, it's too hard to romanticize FX's brand of crazy.
All of that said, toxic love tends to be extremely passionate and addictive, so of course watching it would have the same effect. Ep14 was chef's kiss - the realest their love has ever been. I can't say I'm rooting for them, but i am sat to see how they conclude this... i can accept any ending at this point, that's how well this story has been told. Kudos to the actors for bringing the characters to life so well!
This show was a warm blanket on the coldest day. Mostly warm, with many laughs and a few doses of reality that tug at your heart. I enjoyed watching this, only downside is the episode count ~ should have been 24 instead of 16, with some more college/uni & adult life scenes.
Just started the series (on Ep3) and I've repeatedly wondered if a troubled childhood is enough to explain Fan Xiao's level of diabolical... These guys were minding their business, going about their lives then here comes Mr. Chaos & Mayhem 😩
Going from an emotionally charged (but not too heavy) exchange about queer feelings under the weight of their mind's "straight" expectations... to a sexually charged moment where touching/being touched by the same gender body actually zinged... i had whiplash 😂 (in the best way!) I didn't even get to appreciate yearner boy W's slight show of edge... I was still processing their prior communication 😅
Their relationahip has progressed so beautifully despite it being cliché, honestly I wouldn't change a thing! The actors do a fabulous job of portraying the journey from one-sided curiosity, to joint friendly comfort, to one sided attraction, then finally two sided curiosity/interest, slight detour with self-inflicted insecurity/jealousy before finally getting to both emotionally invested and attracted... all with yearning and clear communication along the way... swoon!! 😍
I'll definitely re-watch Eps 8 & 9 before the finale to lock in allll the feels 🥰

I'm just here browsing TCS, taking in everyone's reactions, because i can't articulate my own yet
