I don't even like high school dramas but this one here is a real gem. Just a really relaxing and soothing watch…
lmao, i literally wrote the exact same thing haha without seeing your comment. yes to everything. the cinematography was stunning. i was in awe hahaha. Lin Nan Yi's actor was so chill, it gave me a unique experience with the ML, like he was so laidback and natural as a good friend to his more chaotic friends, and then of course like you said, just admired tongxi so much without any hastles, like he said "to him, she has plot armour" lmao. i dunno, the whole beachy atmosphere, his laidback personality and tongxis bubbly one, plus their two cute friends. it was such a lovely watch ahahha
true. i just watched the kdrama "run on" and i loved it so much because the leads were normal people. funny that…
ive only watched neos and chaoyues parts so far. i hate watching different shows all at once, so i intended to watch each couples moments, and then dramas all at once lol. i never really got around to the other two, but i'll do it one day. im more into dramas than variety shows so it takes me a while to feel like watching it. but yeah, sorry XD i cant answer your question haha. i did watch bits and pieces of their parts, and i really liked yan lin and yi tong hahaha. especially on how clueless he was with his words (Like that birthday scene, how he ruiend hte compliment by saying he remembers everyones birthdays lol) id probs watch theirs next cause i like their chemistry.

oh thanks for the suggestion. yes, these things more interesting in todays time cause people are sick with extravagence. even comedy, Bo burnham finally came back after 5 years and made a whole netflix special from his room in quarintine and its the best thing ever XD id love to see more MLs be normal average people, cause the FLs are actually pretty relatable average people in cdramas (well they dumb them down alot lol, but still haha)

yeah, its about making the normal things in life special or dramatic or funny, thats what makes dramas really interesting, as opposed to over the top rich people, murders, soap-opera stuff hahaha
true. i just watched the kdrama "run on" and i loved it so much because the leads were normal people. funny that…
yeah, i think its just cause i wanna see real people i can relate to or something. or just, real people are multi-faceted, theyre more complex than just being "the cold ceo" or "the rich bitchy girl" like, once you make them average, its their different personalities that define them and its much more interesting to explore. its like how the cast of Crazy Rich Asians were like "each character isnt just "the asian character" anymore, the characters can have depth in their personalities because no one is characterised by basic superfical shit."
watching this is like going on a gorgeous beach trip. the scenery and shots (even the lighting) is so beautiful, i really feel like im at the coast, these kids live in such a nice place. the title "summer again" really fits well with the theme of the show. and omg, all those garden shots, and lighting, its so fresh and cool like the mint lemonade they always drink. lol, i dont know how to explain it. its not cozy like a spring/autumn vibe, but youthful and vibrant. also the story and characters are great. lets not forget. i just couldnt not comment about the atmosphere of the show.
i enjoyed this movie. alot of people think the ml is a pushover because who would take that type of pushing-around for like 18 years. well, in any other situation, she would've been cut out from his life and he wouldve moved on, but you cant do that to family. althoguh its common in dramaland, lets be real, when are you ever going to live with the girl you like in the same house, have your parents treat her llike a daughter, even when you grow up and move out, she's always in your living room, attending meals, you have the same friends, you actually cant get away from her, and obviously he's spent YEARS with her, enough time to see thru her annoying/bitchy attitude and fall deeply for the person she is inside. second reason this rare situation works. as someone wrote below, the MLs love language is acts of service. its how he treats every girl he's with in the movie and to him, its showing that he loves them. of course, because of this, he does a ton of shit for the FL, WHO, being in denial about his feelings, being a bitch, or acting like an annoying sister, takes major advantage of.
its this weird situation where she kind of has family/sister entitlement to treat him like shit, and any normal brother would be like f u, and not listen, but because he likes her, likes doing things for people he likes, he just accepts it. of course this is super unhealthy (and his fault for just agreeing to everything, then getting mad like she forced him to do all this stuff) but he eventually stands up for himself and calls it quits. he also gets mad at her for not liking him, to which she's like "i never asked you to like me. that's on you." which i liked, like no one is entitled to like anyone. the problem with their relationship was always her taking advantage of his feelings whenever she felt lonely or needed help, like she kept him on the side essentially for like 18 years lol. and he, never stood up for himself, never took initiative with his feelings, or called it quits when it wasnt working, but then whined about their relationship being all messed up. she had major pride issues, he was always too scared to take that step. the editing couldve been slightly better in this movie so that both characters could be more understood and not come off so mean or bitchy or pathetic, but i still really liked it. this movie is about FLAWED characters. the female lead is selfish. the male lead feels entitled to her love because he's her best friend.
It's his biological mom. I think she doesn't want to feel old but feel young so that's why his mom prefers him…
"sister" sounds a bit weird in english, but not in chinese. its kind of the same stituation like if you have a young aunt, and she's like "don't call me aunt, it makes me sound old, just call me by my name" lol. its like sommeone calling a middle-age women "young lady" and the woman and the one saying it know its just a joke, but its like indirectly calling someone young-looking. i dunno XD
An actual high school drama where the FL isn't the dumbest girl in the class who is in love with the smartest…
omg yes. i am sooooooooooooooooooo sick of the fl sucking at school, and like, getting super low grades, not even cause she's dumb but cause she doesnt even try and is too busy eating in class or thinks working for 5 mins is boring and cant sit still in her chair, then proceeds to complain about how hard school is, and then do everything BUT study to try and boost her grades. ugh, its so annoying, yeah there are kids who have talents in other parts of life and academics is not for them, but even those kids will do just enough work to get a c- or whatever and just pass. like you have to actively try to fail that bad in school. i mean a B is an average for a reason, cause like 90% of the students will get a B in school, meaning it shouldn't be super hard for a 17yr old to complete exams at that level. why are cdrama fls so incapable of basic shit. i mean, yes, have a variety of characters in your stories, but when every fl is depicted as incapable of even passing school without the ml tutoring her relentlessly, it gets a little degrading to watch.
well actually it kind of just disappears half way thru the show.... infact to a point some people in the ending…
yeah, i think part of the show is about her growing, finding "real love" with a real person as opposed to obsessing over someone you can never actually have. funny thing is, as opposed to being a fangirl, she's probs the best girlfriend ive ever seen in any kdrama. comlpetely rational, gives him space (like asks him when he needs space), encourages him to fix his problems and helps him without being pushy or stepping over boundaries, she knows when he's pretending to be tough and needs comfort, lets him cry without judging him just cause he's a guy. theres no irrational behaviour and they dont breakup ever for dumb shit (pretty much the later episodes are about the ML and his issues so she does alot of supporting stuff) and also is super supportive over his career, without sacrificing her own dreams and job, so yeah, she's a pretty great character if that's the only thing bothering you. but yeah, she pretty much falls in love with her own life as the story goes on and the fangirl moments get more tamed, anyway, its a nice sweet drama, nothing crazy overdramatic. maybe watch a bit more and see if it gets better? but or like you said XD theres a 1000 other kdramas out there hahaha, its impossible to like everything
Please tell me this gets better. The fan girl storyline is driving me nuts. I want to like the FL, but the fan…
well actually it kind of just disappears half way thru the show.... infact to a point some people in the ending episode thought it was a bit weird it wasnt even mentioned when the show was closing tldr: this drama isnt actually about her fangirling, theres a deeper storyline revolving artwork and lost parents etc.
