That’s intentional. One of its “selling points” was that it had a plot like a short drama.
Haha, yeah. For a little while C-ent was convinced that long form dramas that felt like short dramas would be popular because short dramas are really popular 😂 but if they did their homework, they would have understood that what the audience likes is good pacing and a tight plot with a good amount of peaks and troughs.
She’s not in it. I think the reviewer is saying that RJL had good chemistry with actresses in his previous dramas. Peng Xiao Ran also had good chemistry with other actors besides RJL too. Though I think a lot of the complaints about chemistry is confusing it with relationship or romance. The screenwriter didn’t seem to want the audience to like the main couple. The two leads have a pretty poor relationship after the 4th episode for a few episodes. And while there’s tension, it’s not really romantic.
Reason #99999 to like Peng Xiao Ran: She’s a goofball🥹 Check out this cute video her studio posted of her reacting to hitting herself in the leg while practicing sword fighting: https://m.weibo.cn/detail/5297465604441686
I’m curious too. Marketing accounts started posting names but that’s not a sure bet. And with how they cut character storylines and changed some of the dynamics I wonder how this arc will go too.

If he wants to keep the same aesthetic, it makes sense to use the same people. Huang Wei seems to understand his vision too and he’s the only person who can get Huang Wei to behave. His problem though is that he makes actors conform to the makeup and styling rather than the other way around. He also doesn’t seem to keep his cast in good condition either.
People need to stop comparing Vos to any other GJM drama, especially FoF.People who do this have simply watched…
This. It’s been so weird seeing all these accusations of plagiarising his own work. Artists recycle all the time and if he’s trying to go the auteur route, there will be commonalities in his works. For FoF and VoS he used the same makeup and costume designer so of course there will be similarities as it seems Cent makeup and costume designers have distinctive styles. Some of the things like reusing spells or gestures sound like he’s building a lore for his worlds. If he’s reusing some character traits, tropes, or plot points it’s because he’s essentially a commercial director and he’s refining the product for future iterations by using what works in a previous iteration.
Shrimp Farm dropped some clips of Xiao Ran training for her new role! Looks pretty cool. Anyway whatever Ranzi plays, I’ll watch it!: https://m.weibo.cn/detail/5296724044418360

Yes, I just saw the other rumored actress is in another drama that is soon to start. Still waiting for the official announcement but whatever role Ranzi plays, I’m excited. 🥹 If it is this show, then I’ve heard it’s an original script which is good for keeping viewer interest even if there’s a reduction in initial hype.

When I searched the show’s title, I saw different casting rumours. Some were old but these were new and were a believable combination of old casting rumours for the leads. It doesn’t seem like she would be a supporting role though. There’s two other major female character according to the poster but one is aged 45 which seems too high for her to play unless they do a lot of heavy makeup. It would have to be the 24 year old role but there’s not much on it.
Because Su Changhe is 4th billing. The billing order is the order that the actor’s names appear on official announcements or publicity for the drama-not the characters. It can be based on multiple factors, not just screen time or the book’s arrangements. For the drama, this is the order followed in China and most official sites. Even if Mu Yumo wasn’t 2nd billing, Su Changhe would not be 2nd billing because he would still be after Su Zhe’s actor.

Yeah, it all feels a bit weird. Everything about the character she plays sounds perfectly tailored for her…Like why be so secretive about Xiao Ran unless the producers really wanted her and were worried it would be snatched? And the guy… it’s really strange that non-fans are pulling him down. If fans aren’t being negative, why should they care? It’s like they are deliberately trying to create anxiety.
