I’m not sure if Huanrui has been producing promotional material for other dramas lately but this drama’s promotion really needs to rely on quality over anything else. There are too many mediocre xianxia out and the leads are not traffic stars nor are they acting in their comfort zones so this show needs to convince viewers it will be worthwhile if it wants reservations. That is why I think it needs a good trailer. A good trailer will do more work than AI posters for every holiday. I’ve always felt like part of the success of Huamei was it had a really well done trailer. It was so well done, that even though it was only released a few weeks before the show aired, the show had good ratings from its first day.

No manipulation. Every drama has its own life. It’s good the other drama has 500,000 reservations. Hopefully, this show will release some effective content soon and will get there too.

Unfortunately, I don’t think we will get any new content until it airs. They also probably won’t release a trailer until it’s close to airing.

Yes, but it is a subplot and in the background compared to the rest of the show.

The love interest or the FL? The FL, Mu Yumo, is not the love interest. She doesn’t require constant saving. I don’t remember the love interest, Bai Hehuai, being that type either. And even if she’s not an assassin, she’s got medical skills. Anyway, women and romance don’t figure too much in this show. It’s mostly brawling and brotherhood.

It’s really a shame. It’s honestly the most powerful scene in the entire show. A lot of people wanted to edit it but Xie Ze’s camera work made it too difficult. Otherwise, I think it probably would have gone viral as an acting scene.

It’s a sub-plot and not the main focus. The leads are also not paired together. There are 3 main official couples:

MYM & TLY
MXW & MQY
Depending on how you see things, some people also feel this pair is a couple:
SMY & SCH

Marie Claire is just the right amount of makeup but it might not be suitable for the stage.

I hope so too. I also really hope they don’t suppress or mess with Feng Miaojun. I’m still upset about how Love and Crown took away Cangcang’s highlights/storyline and gave them to other characters.

Yeah, tbh from a styling standpoint, all of her dresses/looks have been on point. The stylist really deserves praise. So many of these big actresses with big time endorsements wear dresses that don’t fit but her dresses are all well fitted and suit her without falling into that pretty but bland aesthetic that so many others are stuck in. Now, it’s just a matter of fine-tuning the hair and makeup.

Pure Tragedy. There are character deaths and separations but this drama excels in the tragedy category not because of its events per se but because it really understands the drivers behind tragedy. Especially in regards to character flaws.

The pretty faces are legit. They also didn’t use skin filters or smoothing so there’s no enhancements. It’s 100% based on the good looks of the cast.

I still haven’t found a Cdrama able to do what this show did. Even though it has its flaws, I think it’s a really brilliant show for being able to make the audience feel its characters truly were alive and that its ending is the best ending. I walked away with such an intense feeling of both relief and grief that I haven’t been able to forget the show. I watched this show 6 years ago and still feel sad when I see Xiao Feng.

After editing Xiao Ran’s videos for the past year or so, I really hope she can work with more skilled directors and productions who can capture and showcase her brilliance. Lately, I’ve been editing Cangcang and Nie Sangyu and the acting is so beautiful, logical, and natural and the transitions and emotional build-up are so smooth that I am just constantly blown away by her talent.
