Because Huasen is ranked 4th billing and posters usually go by billing order. Even in this new poster, being 2nd and 3rd billing, both Peng Xiao Ran and Qiao Zhenyu are directly behind Gong Jun while Huasen is behind them. It may not make sense to overseas viewers who have a different understanding of popularity but the order of the posters makes sense if you consider they were created before the show aired and were designed to attract audiences. Huasen has been in a lot of roles recently but after Gong Jun, Qiao Zhenyu and Xiao Ran would have the most recognition and popularity before the show airs.

It might be how Google Translate translated the name but it should be Xie Xingzhi’s wife. I’ve not read the book but I’ve heard of this couple a few times in passing and so I’m curious as to who will play them, especially since it seems like they might be 30+ actors/actresses.

Really curious to see who plays Ke Jingzhen and Xie Xingzhi. It seems there’s also interest in their casting.

Seems like a 40 episode version might air in Taiwan. Wonder how that will change the story. 🤔A lot of what was cut had to do with character dynamics.

I feel this way too. I’ve seen a few people complain about the production quality over the years, especially as the show ages but considering people were celebrating its 7th anniversary a few days ago on Weibo and several post 2020 dramas and movies still reference and try to compare to it, I think it still holds up. The show does have imperfections but it felt quite good quality to me after seeing newer stuff-especially the outdoor shots of Western Regions. There are very few TV directors in C-ent that have Li Muge’s mastery of scenic shooting, particularly in how he world-builds and creates atmosphere with it. He also values and showcases the individual beauty of the cast. Xiao Feng’s costume and styling during the Xizhou arc are also a masterclass in effective costume design.

I hope if she does get a character like this again that they are showcased well. She’s so good at showing the mental state of a character, their growth and transformation but I feel like the editing always hampers the performance. Love and Crown has a lot of good moments and there’s definitely a transformation in Cangcang but there aren’t enough scenes of her journey. Outside of Love and Crown I feel like the last director who really captured her ability and charm was Wang Wei.

I don’t think so although I’m surprised that the show didn’t use the hype of BR or even LaC to push itself more. Especially right after LaC, a good trailer would have attracted everyone heartbroken or disgruntled by Cangcang’s fate.
