I’m not so into that arc (I like the 1st arc the most) so I don’t remember but it’s somewhere after episode 15. Though if you skip most of the latter half of the first arc, you’ll miss a major plot point.

Not every show works for everyone. If you dislike Xiao Feng this much already, you may not like the show at all. However, most who don’t like Xiao Feng sometimes like the palace arc when the focus is more on Li Chengyin and his machinations.

It’s possible but not very likely for CCTV. CCTV showcases dramas all the time whether they air on their channel or not. It’s more likely they’re being featured because ZYC has had shows air on their channel and appears in their programs and PXR’s show on their channel had some of the highest ratings for the year it aired.

It seems there were costume looks that haven’t been seen because they were interior. I love the shot of PXR with the bubbles and I thought the shot of Yun Ya’s swordsmanship was a really cool. The bathtub dress also looks really pretty.

I love the overall positivity from the cast and crew so I really hope this show does well. So many posts are talking positively/praising other members and it’s so nice to see. It’s seems like it was a cast that really liked each other and got on super well despite the hard filming schedule.

When she was shooting for The Legend, she spent several weeks studying dance for one of its scenes and I guess she brought that skill to FoF. Even though she’s off beat in the first link, her movements , especially the swaying of the sleeves, are quite fluid. Plus, GJM made her practice the FoF dance too while she was filming FoF. There were apparently lessons 😂

Nah, not really. I heard there’s some hints of jealousy in the novel but there’s no full blown love triangle with SCH involved. For the drama, I’m not sure SCH has any romantic plot line at all.

I did check them out but wasn’t interested in the end. I don’t really like Guo Jing Ming’s directing so I don’t watch his works unless there’s a special reason.

Cinematography is important but to me being able to shoot people well is part of it. I actually think it’s the most important because stories are told through characters. If a director can’t highlight characters well, the story suffers especially if it is character driven.

Xie Ze doesn’t seem good for these types of stories or heavily emotional stories for that reason. He can shoot interior scenes well, as long as the focus isn’t on people. He also has a sense of composition in the long shots. Also, if he is obsessed with candle lighting, he really needs a good lighting engineer. In actuality, his key strength is story rhythm. When I watch his stuff, I always think he’d be better as an editor than director although I think his storytelling method is too simple.

I haven’t watched any of the listed dramas due to lack of interest but I have seen clips. Out of the dramas I have watched, I tend to like the cinematography of older dramas. The technology seems better now but the actual technical ability seems more hit and miss in dramas. It could just be me though. When I started watching Chinese media, it was mostly films so my standards might be different because films have higher requirements.
