The pairing of WYH passive uncle who has seen too much with YXW youthful energy and good looks, is a very good casting choice!! Liking this a lot! only seen 2 eps, hopefully the drama will continue to surprise me. Ep 2 has some unexpected parts, caught me by surprise and I like it

I don't remember why they didn't persist with S2... But when BR was airing, I think QCX (Chang An) was caught in a scandal and kind of cancelled in the industry for 2 yrs or so. This also impacted the viewership of the drama at the time. Ashes of Love aired around the same time too and took most of the limelight and viewers. So S2 didn't happen likely becos of QCX's scandal and the poor viewership numbers.... But now that QCX is back, and stronger than before, can S2 happen? Ahhhh we can only wish

I did preface it by acknowledging the bad script but I have seen them in enough other roles that it is suffice…
finally finished. rated 7.5 Not influenced by your rating, I completely forgot too.... just my overall feeling after finishing last ep. I think if I've watched until ep 29, I might have rated 8. I was fast fwding a lot in last ep
PBG... I usually agrees with your reviews but I am disagreeing on quite a few points in this one 😅 I am currently at ep 20... took me a long time as first 2 eps put me to sleep, finally moving my ass back to this drama after a long "put on hold". So yes, I agree on that the directing, editing could be better, some eps spent too much time on little arcs and subplots that could be jump over. But calling Li Xiaoran and Yang Rong mediocre actors!! That is blasphemy! lol 😆. I have a different take on the acting performances. I agree Chen Jin, Wang Zi Wen, Yu He Wei, etc delivered excellently, but not becos they are better actors, but due partly to the script they got and maybe what directors might have said about the characters to them. If we really look at all of the actors, except for YHW's Shi Qiang, they have performed their characters detached and cold. Ye Wenjie is very well-written (in the drama) and the most full character in the cast. This makes it easier for WZW and CJ to perform the character. Actors can better perform when they can understand the characters that they play. LXR and YR probably struggled with the materials they received and had issues understanding and empathising with their characters. Mu Xing is really bland, I can't see how YR could have improved on her.

The case didn't make it into drama? Awww I was hoping it would. They were quite evasive in the portrayal of the women's relationship in donghua, hinting and not clearly stating. Was hoping they'd use the case in drama, there'd be fun to watch
